For such a finicky plant, I found it one of the easiest to propagate! Took two cuttings, both rooted in two weeks and now I have a healthy baby diva 😂 Thanks for the great tips.

I bought your root supplement to get rid of root rot on the main plant, will it work for a stem cutting in stead of the hormone? I just have the cutting in water and I'm seeing many roots after 3 weeks!

Good question! We have a propagation promoter and rooting hormone that is a different formula than our root supplement. I recommend using that on any propagated cuttings.

What size pot do you recommend using for a two leaf water propagated cutting when the (8) 1” roots are ready?

Probably a small nursery pot size! 4-6" should be a good size to start.

Hey! how can I get my plant to have leaves all throughout like the ones you have in this video and not have a long stem
@FiddleLeafFigPlant
@FiddleLeafFigPlant Год назад
Hi Juan, if your plant looks a little sparse, you will want to give your plant more light. They need a lot of light to grow new leaves and branches. Another technique you can try is notching! That will help to grow branches in the bare spots of your plant. Here is a helpful video tutorial to check out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--z2c4UtxASI.html

Hi Claire, I accidentally amputated one of my fiddle leaf tree branches when I got too notching happy. I had so much success from trying it before that I couldn't help myself from attempting it again. I'm still devastated because it was the most successful branch after rehabilitating it from a year of neglect and mostly just pure ignorance. Let's just say I'm learning a lot lol...mostly thanks to all your videos. It's funny that I purchased this 6ft tree because it was instagram trendy. Not knowing the work and care it actually takes to keep it alive and striving. But now I understand the joy and purpose of being a plant owner and seeing a new bud blossom. I'm sorry, for the long intro to a very simple question. I'm trying to propagate the lone solider branch, and I purchased the your liquid hormone promoter. I know it says a teaspoon to two cups, but is it normal that my propagation water is a dark brown? And secondly I know you said that when propagating a cutting that it shouldn't have more than 3 leaves max but I have 7 leaves. The leaves are so full and beautiful that I didn't want to pinch them off. Should I pull off the leaves even though my big guy have have developed quite a few popcorn spots after 2 weeks from water propagation? I just Wana see him succeed :( never thought I get so attached to a plant lol. Thanks again!

Hi, I have successfully propagated my mother fiddle leaf fig with just water. I live in Florida and my plants are within a screened lanai and love it! But with that said I had 4 cuttings that just seemed to rot in the water even though I changed it every 3-4 days because it would become cloudy. Only 1 rooting was successful and I wondered if the combination of light and heat was the problem. I am going to use a rooting hormone in the future but am puzzled about the cloudiness of the water. Any suggestions, and thank you!
@FiddleLeafFigPlant
@FiddleLeafFigPlant Год назад
Great question, it could be the composition of the water itself, but you should be ok to change the water as you begin to see it get cloudy and just replace the water to keep it clear of bacteria.

I have a fiddle leaf that is about 4 ft tall and only has about 6 leaves at the very top. Unfortunately after we bought it from Costco and repotted it all The lower leaves fell off. I have read that it will never grow leaves at the bottom again. However today I saw a baby leaf at the very bottom. Is there a chance? I was thinking of cutting the top off and just starting over by propagating it? Not sure what to do? Any advice welcome.
@FiddleLeafFigPlant
@FiddleLeafFigPlant Год назад
Great question! That is correct that new leaves mostly grow from the top but if the plant is under stress, the energy can only go so far as leaves near the bottom of the plant. I recommend making sure your plant is sitting directly in front of and up against your brightest window and ensure the water you give is draining thoroughly and properly out the bottom drainage holes. In time when the plant is healthy, you can try notching to create growth lower down. And pruning the top will encourage branching to occur at the point where you make the cut. Happy Growing!

@FiddleLeafFigPlant
