The Propella V4.0 is a class 1 commuter e-bike that's fast rolling, light weight, and good looking.
With 250W of power from the motor, and quick 700 x 35c tires you’ll find yourself cruising at high average speeds without a lot of effort. The V4.0s price point is also very competitive for what you receive.
Those who want an e-bike, but still like the feeling of a normal bike below them will like what the Propella V4.0 brings to the table. Propella offers the V4.0 in a single speed, and 7 speed design, both of which have their benefits.
We reviewed the 7 speed model and found the gear range to be largely beneficial to the ride experience as a whole. Commuting? Riding for fun? Either way check out what the Propella V4.0 has to offer.

E-Bike Question of the Day ⚡ Do you think Propella should use a larger moter on the fifth version of their e-bike, or is the current 250W motor good enough? Let us know in the comments below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

750w will make this The perfect ebike.

A larger motor would mean more weight in the drive system and the battery to drive it. I bought one of these largely because it is relatively lightweight.

Keep upping the power as the battery power per Kg increases over time to keep weight increases neutral.

I had mine V4.0 for almost a yer, put in 2.4K miles so far and I love it. I have had NO issues at all. I get +50 miles on level assist 2-3 with a few hills here and there. Recommended upgrades: Kinekt seat post and suspension stem, there’s close to no vibration and completely changed the ride. Love it so far.

Excellent review. I really appreciated the rigor of the testing. I would like to ride a little more upright - I am older and don’t want to stress my back. Is it adjustable for this?

What an amazing review! Definitely going to check this out as my first potential eBike. Thank you for this! Question: Would the addition of maximum potential weight movable be a plausible/practical thing in the reviews, some of us riders are a big larger the the seasoned cyclists and weight would have contributing factor to whether or not a bike's right for a rider. Also being a commuter bike it would be used for things like going to work/school/light grocery shopping all of which add weight.

That’s really cool that you can ride like a normal bike though!

I'm looking hard at the Propella bikes but would really like to physically try one. I live in St. George UT. Do you have one of these bikes in St. George? What's the chances of test riding one?

Excellent review and super thorough like always! Super nice looking bike, but I’m spoiled and wouldn’t go for a motor that puts out less than 350 w ;)

Thanks so much, we appreciate it! Jumping up to a 350w motor intrigues us on this bike for future models!

Good review. I want to understand the 5 Levels of electric motor. Q1: Is the higher the Level (1-5), is the higher amount of electric motor contribution to the ride? Q2: Can the electric motor be disabled, so the bike is 100% rider's power? Thanks
@MattRix
@MattRix 2 года назад
At one point in the video he shows exactly what the 5 levels do and he also shows that you can ride with it turned off.
@VinhNguyen-np7qn
@VinhNguyen-np7qn Год назад
@@MattRixAt level 0 the motor is not doing anything at all and like he said in the review, you can ride it like a normal bike . The weight of the bike without the motor is about 33lbs which means it will fit most bike racks and hitches!

Good review, thanks. FYI Dampening is to make something slightly wet - I believe you meant damping when talking about the wider tires.

@realitychampion8022
@realitychampion8022 2 года назад
@@rafaelvargas4113 I canceled the order. It was too long and they kept delaying. Also, do not buying 500watt motor, get a 1up bike.. it’s cheaper with a 750 watt.

Did I see Presta tire valves on this bike?

This would be perfect without the bar. I cannot lift my legs very far, so because of the bar, this isn't the best bike for me.

Take my word for it, spend another $100 and get the Wing Freedom. Nothing but issues with propella. battery is tiny

FYI... The word "simplistic" is not interchangeable with *simple*. It means oversimplified or "characterized by extreme and often misleading simplicity".

"We like to perform what we call a 'range test' " lol. Everyone calls it a range test. Because that's what it's called.
