Stake Conference: • Video
** Sorry, there is some feedback on the Stake Conference recordings **
This last Sunday, April 14th, 2024, we had Stake Conference in my Stake, which is the Sandpoint Idaho Stake. I specifically moved here because I wanted to get away from the heavy-handed authoritarian control, however it looks like it has arrived. During the conference there was a very heavy focus on following President Nelson in all things without question. In addition, it was mentioned, more than once, that people that didn’t obey and get the covid vaccine were wrong and should have obeyed without question. The general message was that anyone that doesn’t follow President Nelson, exactly and completely, is spiritually deficient and needs to repent.

When I stopped being church centered and became Christ centered I found the true love of Christ and will never give that up to follow any man again. The words and wisdom of Joseph Smith is like an old comic book or antique car to the leaders of today. I will ponder and take more seriously the words of a man who has seen and openly testifies of God the Father and the Son our living Savior than those who say these things are too sacred to talk about. If they were to sacred to talk about we would not have the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. It is now being taught that any new prophet can over ride any old prophet. Christ did not over ride the old prophets of his day. In fact He quoted from many of them. Be very careful about following leaders today. You are being prepped to accept more woke and mainstream stuff to come. Jesus Christ was crucified because he was not mainstream.

The doctrine of "Follow the Prophet" started by Brigham Young was the beginning of the end for the restored church. What I find interesting is that they quote dead prophets and at the same time teach us that the words of dead prophets don't age well. You can't have it both ways.

The actual end of priesthood and actual authority ended when Joseph and Hyrum were murdered. I left the church in 2007 and will never put my soul in another man of flesh's hands ever again. We fought for the Lord's plan of free agency, before we all came here. Blessed? I have been sick and disabled for 37 years. Pharmaceuticals have made me die 5 times. Wasn't Brigham Young the one who got riled up about fighting Johnston's army, but then later said, "this morning a man was speaking, but now the prophet is speaking." Elder Christofferson quoted this in his talk "the Doctrine of Christ" I believe. Seems to me that Brigham Young was teaching that prophets can have wrong opinions.
@thomasthezaugg
@thomasthezaugg 3 месяца назад
@fightingfortruth9806 right, it was Wilford Woodruff, that formally codified it into the doctrine and covenants. Joseph had earned this level of discipleship from the saints through demonstrated work, so edicts of this kind were never required. Brighams violent rule meant that of you didn't follow the 'Prophet' you were likely to perish in the Utah territory. Woodruff merely articulated what had previously been established by young through indirect means. "The Lord will never permit me or any other man who stands as President of this Church to lead you astray. It is not in the program. It is not in the mind of God."

I'm grateful for my testimony of President Nelson I received during covid, that he is JUST A MAN. It's difficult to sit through Stake Conferences such as this one. Makes me want to walk out. I applaud you. I attended church maybe 3 times in 5 months, from Nov 2023 to March. Then I was told (by God) to go ahead and live the law of Moses, as it were, go to church regularly for now, ministering, etc, but while doing so, to follow the two greatest commandments. Yes Sir. Evidently I have a lot to learn (don't be critical, for one). Then my wife got called to be RS President. She feels her mission is to love those Sisters. So those 2 greatest commandments are our mission, everyone's needs before our own at whatever sacrifice. Everything else is ancillary to that mission.

@donaldjones9830 3 месяца назад
He can lead us astray. By opinion or sin, but I wouldn’t call this false doctrine. Did people mischaracterize his words? Yes. The prophet didn’t lie and didn’t try to lead anyone astray. The members decided getting the jab was a sin or bad for everyone, so you all shouldn’t be judging people for getting the jab, many got it before the letter from the prophet. Many got it to help out with getting COVID over because of furloughs and state regulations on jobs, because the prophets advocated that. One could argue the Church was slow to respond and that one didn’t have good knowledge from government or doctors about COVID or the vaccine. I agree. Doesn’t make the vaccine bad though

@@donaldjones9830 I’m not talking about the jab specifically. I’m talking about the claim Woodruff made that stands to this day in the church that a prophet could “never lead us astray”. @donaldjones9830
@donaldjones9830 3 месяца назад
@@Dont-Be-Abi-Yussif Like I said that I agree with blindly following, the other extreme is always taking everything anyone says in the Church to God and demanding an answer. God doesn’t command us in all things. By the way, I’m unaware of President Woodruff’s comment you’re referring to. It’s important we avoid both extremes with Church leaders. They are not infallible but one can be duped by them by how you interpret them. One can be an extremist and never make a decision or believe anything they say unless God tells them so. It wasn’t a sin to not pray about getting the jab or not getting it. If you do other work to make a decision. Being led astray is what we call not accepting truth, correction from others, not learning from our mistakes or others and not learning correct doctrine. It’s a form of being holier than thou, a know it all, pride etc. Basically when we sin, we are going astray. One must be amenable to changing themselves through the Savior’s Atonement. Just coming from it a different way. Understand that President Woodruff’s comment you mentioned is on a video about COVID and a Stake Conference. President Oaks said there is good in all political parties. I struggle to see what’s good about the Democrat agenda or socialism etc. Not criticizing him, I don’t understand a lot of some things the Church leaders say.

@@donaldjones9830 This was actually a video about prophet worship as the title suggests. C-19 is just used as an example of how this false doctrine was applied in the modern day, but this is only one of several instances in church history. If you ever read the first Manifesto then you can find the quote from Woodruff there saying that a prophet can never lead one astray. It seems to be the most recycled quote throughout the generations to justify the expectations that members should be obedient to their leaders’ counsel. What many have failed to realize when quoting Woodruff is that the Manifesto itself is a clear example of deception coming from the top down and a perfect example of “a prophet” leading people astray. The Manifesto claimed to forbid any further plural marriages in the church but it is well documented that the brethren continued to perform several plural marriages. Oh the irony!
@donaldjones9830
@donaldjones9830 3 месяца назад
@@Dont-Be-Abi-Yussif Where is the proof that they continue plural marriages today? You say it is deception on their part. Is that like all the people who with COVID said God told them no, then they said that means everyone would have gotten that answer as the reason to say the Church was wrong? The same people that said that anyone who got the jab followed the prophet falsely, even though many got it before the letter? Furthermore they claimed God needed to say so to them, despite the fact they have never applied it to any other vaccine or medical decision, and then claimed the vaccine was poison. The fact was over 80% of Americans got it. To claim private revelation should have been what revelation the Church should have said was false doctrine. It assumed that everyone who got jabbed lied about it and didn’t pray about it because they decided they were right and it was poison and God said no to them. What hubris. You say this is a recycled quote from President Woodruff, so that means we can’t truly identify him as actually saying it. No one worships the prophet. People do the opposite and take everything to the Lord in prayer including things they want God to tell them in because they think he should counsel them in everything without making a personal decision themselves, meaning they aren’t exercising faith in him. You say this prophet worship happened several times in Church history without offering anything but the Manifesto. You are not technically correct. There were people who found ends around it by technicality for a few decades, this happens in the temple all the time, including baptisms for Jews and celebrities which has occurred before until a lawsuit came against the Church 20 years ago or so. Because marriage involves sealings, one could go past the original Manifesto with a work around for doing it with dead relatives in stead of the live marriages back then. That did occur until WW1 when that was declared against the spirit of the Manifesto. See how easy one is duped? They didn’t lie about it, they found another way to practice it on a technicality but it was finally shut down. I wouldn’t say the end around was an attempt to follow the prophet before it was banned in 1890. Early Church history is sketchy on many things that were done or said, so I take a lot of it with a grain of salt. The follow the prophet controversy is another way people use to lie. They say Follow the Savior, not him. The prophet represents the Savior. They say he must preface his comments with Thus saith the Lord, in order to be doctrine. Which is untrue. They implied the prophet lied about the letter because they assumed he said it was a commandment or that there is no wise medical people to consult. Also nonsense. Also, they took 1 vaccine, said it required they ask the Lord, when they never applied that to other vaccines or anything else the prophet has mentioned with health related issues. There were people who called President Kimball racist for opposing the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution. Following the prophet is not false doctrine. If one can’t know when he dictates doctrine versus stating his opinion, as mentioned in the bottle crushing story, that is your fault. What is said in General Conference is prophetic counsel. Letters from the First Presidency also constitute doctrine unless it says otherwise. It was obvious the Church never said it was mandatory to get the jab. The Church does advocate following the law of the land. If you lived in a state where your job or state required masks or a vaccination, to not do so is not following the prophet. The Church teaches us when Church law supersedes the law of man, but in this case, it does not apply here because getting a jab is not a sin. This explains why we do not do missionary work in China. Their law is evil, but we respect it. The idea that we should ask the Lord about the jab simply to justify telling others they were wrong for getting it and saying they were duped into following the prophet on a non commandment is just evil and wrong. Private revelation is one thing. Revealing it to justify telling those who got it they were wrong is immoral and wrong. Simply using a Church video from a Stake Conference in which they chose to upload to RU-vid so you can justify judging others by implying they are following the prophet falsely on an assumption they thought it was a commandment, is the height of arrogance. None of you know what prophet worship is. I’m Republican, and I get accused of Trump worship, because he is an adulterer and evil according to most people, even though Biden and most politicians have committed adultery and things accused of Trump. You guys treat prophet worship like Democrats do to Republicans on Trump. You simply declare their choice a sin and say they are worshipping an idol. This kind of arrogance is wrong. I can damn well choose who to vote for or how to interpret what a prophet says and still get a vaccine, regardless of whether it was a good idea or not. Who are you people to judge? Saying prophet worship is wrong is tantamount to declaring the other side of sin for a choice you didn’t make, and then hypocritically applied to Church leaders who are doing their best to get their stake to follow the prophet, in a stake conference not given live to anyone outside the stake, and therefore not my business to judge them for. Stop telling people you disagree on a choice with that they are worshipping a prophet or politician. This is an abuse of your power and my agency and therefore you are declaring false doctrine by saying we are practicing false doctrine because we made a choice that isn’t a sin. Sorry. I vehemently disagree with this video and OP. Such stupid nonsense. The Book of Mormon warns against false doctrine and I’ve seen plenty here on these videos discussing the Stake Conference in Sand Point Idaho. I’m done here. I’m tired of the stupidity here. I will call out any church member’s channel promoting such nonsense and criticizing of Church leadership. Or if they promote contention, false doctrine or advocating the Church abuses people or lets guns in buildings . Move on. Tired of COVID debates.

President Nelson isn’t a false prophet. He didn’t claim that if we didn’t get the vax, then we aren’t following the prophet. Technically a false prophet is anyone not appointed and called by God. The hardest part about this video was listening to him say that those who didn’t “follow the prophet” were just following their own opinions. He even had the gall to suggest it was political. He doesn’t even consider that people could have made their choice based on sound evidence and answers to prayer. Man, it still hurts my soul to be insulted like this. I’m sad that’s how they think of those who are taking God for their guide. Again I disagree here. The prophet told us to pray about it and it wasn’t mandatory, yet you accuse those who did get it of following the prophet but said they were duped into thinking it was a commandment. Making it appear you are calling getting the jab a sin. I’m assuming the SP got the jab and was advocating it. Even if he was wrong to do so, you both are doing the same by using a video to judge him for something that was intended to judge anyone who got as worshipping the prophet. I’m not allergic to vaccines, not opposed to them and I’m getting judged for getting it, when almost all Americans did get it. So you can’t have it both ways. I just love the hypocrisy here. It’s interesting the same political party that got it wasn’t the party who developed it and got it out but they accepted getting it. Then they elected a president who wanted to force it on everyone else, the same party that accuses the party of the president who helped overturn Roe vs Wade of violating people’s privacy with medicine, even though they tried that with the vaccine after accusing Trump of mishandling it despite taking the jab themselves. Of course both sides were wrong with the government. And you’re both wrong here. You can’t say it’s a private decision to ask God and then tell others who chose different that there private decision to get it is a sin because they misunderstood the prophet and worshipped him by not questioning the vaccine. Getting it or not getting it wasn’t a sin. It wasn’t a commandment because even the prophet and the Lord knows that some people are allergic to it and that some shouldn’t get it. So a one size fits all is wrong both ways. But you took an uploaded video that if it hadn’t been uploaded, you would have known nothing about that Conference, and you took advantage of it to criticize the Church and those who got it to further your agenda. You both need to repent. You were both wrong on this, yet you allow people who didn’t get it to potentially brag about it. Your point was to be holier than thou to state that people in the Church blindly follow the prophet, knowing many got the jab before he said anything about it. You are both being called out. How dare you lecture others on what you think is a sin by a SP and GA, and then do the same thing and use a video to cause contention.

But I also never implied or said it was or wasn’t wrong on his part. The reason you produced the video was because of the jab. Which is why, correct or wrong, the SP talked about following the prophet. Your take was we are obsessive with following the prophet. The fact is everyone who got the jab or didn’t get it followed the prophet, so there was no point to the video. Obviously you agreed with people saying the SP should be removed. So why does an uploaded by their stake conference video need to be commented on by members of the Church here, regardless if they are in that stake or not? It isn’t your job to call out the SP and GA. I’m not going to defend this video or comments that say he should be removed, whether or not he overstepped his bounds. Technically that’s gossip. Your SP isn’t around to defend himself and your attempts of ignoring him on masks and trying to talk to him, is where my comment on being childish comes in. Anyone talking about it as a Channel owner is out of bounds. Plus judging others in your stake on social media for the world to see is not a mature thing to do. I don’t care if the SP and GA were right or wrong. Parading the video around so people can unrighteously judge them is plain wrong. I believe that is called slander. Or badmouthing them. Leave it alone. Or take down this video. Contention is of the devil, which is what this video promotes. I’m not being defensive. I’m tired of the garbage on these videos and COVID nonsense since both sides of the jab are lying about it, then they turn a video into a judge someone else’s SP and a GA. I’m done with this conversation. This is classless and disrespectful to your own stake. All it does is encourages more people to bash the Church or leave it. Which I’ve seen plenty here. I’ve seen plenty of people deliberately misconstruing my comments, name calling, bragging about not getting the jab, promoting false nonsense and harassing others for a decision they didn’t agree with. Like I said, your membership in the Stake is irrelevant. What they said was for their stake and for others to use it as weapon on following the prophet was wrong. No offense, but I will not accept any more replies of people who just won’t listen and think they can say whatever they want on social media. You say you will follow the Prophet until he disagrees with Christ. However in a general LDS sense that is not going to happen unless he advocates for clearly evil things. Therefore Christ and the prophet will always agree. This is logically unsound.

Pres. Nelson’s last talk was filled with lies. I know it’s impossible for those that have never done the research to appreciate this important truth - but he lies. They all lie. And so all the “blessings” promised to you are filled with deception and unfulfilled promises. Look up the original revelation DC 110. Elijah never came. That was never in the original revelation. Look at when they added Elijah to this section. Look at when Peter James and John gave “keys.” It never happened. If it never happened then when will Elijah return again? Jospeh even taught that Elijah was yet to come 2 months prior to his death and we still dismiss the words coming from Jospeh like he didn’t understand. Unfortunately, you are left hearing stories and lies from Brigham to Nelson without ever doing any of the work in knowing what really happened. The gospel preached today IS NOT what Jospeh taught. What we have are the doctrines and commandments of men being taught. Awaking and arising to an understanding that we’ve all been lied to our entire life is frightening BUT when one comes to learn that Jospeh truly had the words of God then we can begin to find God.

The last canonized prophecy is Doctrine and Covenants Section 138, to President Joseph F. Smith, on 3 October 1918. That was over a hundred years ago. Clearly today, we have prophets who don't prophesy, seers who don't see, and revelators who don't revelate. I wish they would magnify their office.

This video is very saddening. The entire idea that members following the church leader’s council is leading us to be “mindless” is utterly blasphemous and despicably incorrect. I say unto you, when have you heard the prophets council something contrary to pondering the scriptures for yourself and coming closer to Christ firstly and foremost? It simply doesn’t happen. This video harshly assumes that everyone in the church is “mindless” and that we are wrong for heeding advice of gods chosen servants WHO ARE HIS MOUTHPIECES. However, following someone’s council is in no way “mindless” as this man suggests. If we were to say that, then following christs teachings would under this man’s teachings be wrong because you aren’t thinking about your actions and are just following someone’s council to love others, which is The same message the apostles send to us. I apologize for being so abrasive, but topics like these need a firm guidance

‘He [Lucifer] wins a great victory when he can get members of the Church to speak against their leaders and to “do their own thinking.”’ and “When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done.” This advice from the 1945 Improvement Era may be old, but it certainly still seems active to me. Did you miss Elder Haynie’s conference talk a year ago? What about the Primary song, “Follow the Prophet (don’t go astray)”? What about the counsel that any personal revelation you get has to match up to the leader’s words? Even if you got that revelation or understanding while prayerfully studying the scriptures? What about when the church leaders teach things that are against the scriptures? (Yes, they absolutely do.) It took me a loooooong time to question the leaders because they did promote following Christ. But when they then say to follow them, they are redirecting people to follow THEM not Christ. They are doubling back on their words. They are creating a dissonance that people struggle to get past. I knew from my walk with the Lord that the Covid vaccine was an abomination. When the first presidency urged everyone to get it, many chose not to follow this very harmful counsel. Many had already received their answer from God, and they chose to trust God over man. Is that sad? What is sad to me is that some who had been told by God not to get the shot, went immediately out and got it after the prophet urged them. That is the saddest thing of all to me, that someone would put a man before God. That is called idolatry, and that is one of the gravest of sins. If YOU always put Christ first, then GOOD. I will tell you that there are many who don’t, and talks like these ones do not help at all. Church leaders should constantly be pointing us to Christ and a personal relationship with Him. But they far more often now speak of following the prophet. Don’t believe me? Analyze their talks. See how much emphasis they put on the prophet. See how many more times they quote Nelson than Jesus Christ in General Conference. Elder Haynie taught that modern prophets are more important than those of old. Even though Jesus Christ is one of the prophets of old. That was the most dangerous talk ever given in recent times. Putting men above God. Smh When you see it, you see it. And when you see it, you can free yourself and follow Christ with no middleman getting in the way.

I tend not to watch videos - and this is a great example why. I mean, imagine someone claiming that they moved to Idaho because they thought the Church would be different there! I can't even. Yes, it is pretty early in the morning for me, but that really is the dumbest thing I have heard all day. Then the narrator (not identified?) launches on his stake president for allegedly saying things that - I will bet money right now, if anyone wants to put up a 20 on the other side - the stake president did not actually say. Making these statements here, lies. I mean, just in the first minute. He says there was a focus (actually there were apparently multiple foci, since more than one focus is mentioned just in the first minute - something of a misuse of the concept of "focus") on "following President Nelson" in "all things, without question." (At about 0:29.) It is phrases like that which are giveaways of the lying. Leaders and members can, do and will say, "follow the prophet." Nobody ever adds, "without question." That's the lie. But the presenter here HAS TO ADD THAT because merely to say, we should be guided by the words of the Lord's chosen servants, especially the senior apostle/prophet" (see D&C 1:38) would be commonplace and ordinary. Only by (falsely) adding the phrase "without question" would such a message seem dubious. He does the same thing again - falsely adding the phrase, "without question" - at 0:41. "People who did not obey were wrong and [the video claims the stake president said] should have obeyed without question." First of all, obeyed WHAT? As the video goes on, it becomes clear that the stake president was concerned about members whose panties got into a bunch when, in 2021, the priesthood leadership of the Church urged compliance with "the wise and thoughtful recommendations of medical experts and government leaders" regarding measures to limit the spread of the SARS-Cov2 virus. The Church leaders said, "To limit exposure to these viruses, we urge the use of face masks in public meetings whenever social distancing is not possible. To provide personal protection from such severe infections, we urge individuals to be vaccinated. Available vaccines have proven to be both safe and effective." That's it. That's what is so upsetting to this fellow. Urging, not commanding but urging, members of the Church during COVID to respect prevailing recommendations from WHO, NIH, CDC and the President of the United States (someone named, "Trump," I think) regarding use of masks and vaccination. Now, I had better add a personal disclaimer. During that time and since, I have been among those who have been very dubious about mask mandates, lockdown measures, and vaccination requirements. I lived in an area that was stricter than most but in a church context, I regularly advised our bishop as a member of the ward council to liberalize temperature checks, seating requirements and so forth. But at no time was I ever told to do anything blindly or without question or any of the lies that are being told in this video. And though it all, I reminded myself that the Lord had not called ME to be the Prophet of his Church. He had called someone else. The Lord had not revealed TO ME how the Church should navigate - world wide - all of the intense social unrest and contention associated with the pandemic. And so even where I might disagree, I could and did see the wisdom associated with the idea that members should strive to be good citizens. See also, Rom. 13:13. And it is not like anyone checked up on me or my mask compliance or asked to see my vaccination card or anything like that. So I thought I should clarify that, but now I'll get back to my second observation about the statement(s) in this video, using the phrase, "without question." That is just another false insert. I guarantee the stake president did not say, "People who did not obey were wrong and should have obeyed without question." That was just a lie. It is absent from the clips within the video. But I knew that was a lie even before I realized that the video is peppered with video clips from the stake president's remarks. There is no place that members were told to do anything, "without question." The video from the goofball member here keeps using the term, "blindly." There was no place where members were told to obey anything blindly. The VERY WORST that can be said is that the stake president was referring to the RECOMMENDATIONS about masking and vaccination. That no one EVER said "blindly," or "without question" AT ALL is evident from this First Presidency statement in January 2021: "Individuals are responsible to make their own decisions about vaccination. In making that determination, we recommend that, where possible, they counsel with a competent medical professional about their personal circumstances and needs." So, again, "blindly," "without question," all of those claims are lies. Members of the Church ought not lie about their leaders. Ever. At all. And then the very next claim is, "an increased focus on living men and a legal incorporation." The "legal incorporation" bit is the funniest - he is speaking of the Church. Many people seem to think that it is somehow a bad thing that religious institutions - all the way in size from the Roman Catholic Church down to "First Bible Church of South Pixley" or whatever - incorporate for purposes of tax deductible contributions, buying and selling church property, hiring employees, having a bank account and all kinds of practical, daily, routine reasons. All of them. It's a fact that has nothing to do with anything, except that nuts and crackpots like to bring it up all the time. But let's get back to "an increased focus on living men." WHAT THE HECK? If this liar claims to be a member of the Church for any period of time at all, he should at least get that the Church is SUPPOSED TO BE "built on the foundation of the prophets and apostles, with Jesus Christ himself as cornerstone." Eph 2:20. And in fact it is fundamental to the Restored Gospel that those and all other priesthood offices have been restored; it is why and how the Lord can say, "What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same." (D&C 1:38.) This is not some new invention, it is a fundamental part of the Lord's church. And I can't believe that this fellow was somehow in ignorance of it. But we know that the video is worthless for that reason alone.

In your quest to be negative you somehow missed the entire purpose of the video. You bet $20 that the SP didn't say the words but I literally showed a video of him doing so.
