Wasn't this a thing 20-ish years ago? The F-22 was the star aircraft of AC04 because the JASDF hoped to be the first export customer for the F-22. Anyway, let's see how Tempest/FCAS/whatever it's called now turns out...

In a sense, the KF21 Boramae, being designed with help from Lockheed Matin, is this airplane.

This is old news. Japan is building a domestically source 6th generation fighter. The F-22 is 5th gen. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_F-X
