Good video, these truck are not meant to be a zero to 60 truck. In my opinion the " performance modes" just give a higher likleyhood of ruining something prematurely. They're meant to be efficient as a work horse. If it shifts good and solid and holds around 2k rpm range at 70, she's doing just fine. I'm not saying you're wrong, that's just my opinion. I do think there is a great benefit to the tuners from a towing stand point. No argument there.

I wouldn’t be worried about how many miles are on the truck as long as you properly maintain it. Those 7.3L engines are as tough as they come.

@@brandon22333 Yup runs and drives good, has 199k on the clock. have to fix a door latch on the driver's side. Sheered it off and have to weld on a new one.

So i got a 99 7.3 4x4 all stock except for a unwanted straight pipe and a open filter and box delete. 380k miles doesnt smoke at all just put a brand new transmission in only about 10k ago. Think my truck is still good for a hydra

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NORMAL UNDER PERFORMANCE MODES BECAUSE ENGINE PARAMETERS ARE OUT OF RANGE PER STOCK APPLICATIONS. GO BACK TO STOCK OR SIP MODE AND LIGHT GOES OUT UNLESS HARD CODES ARE STORED

Not really true, i have a ts6 and it runs no cel. I think the only time you get anything at all is when shifting in pos 6 under full throttle

So mine runs 25 lbz boost with the 140 hp tune do I have a boost leak and it has the wastegate completely disabled

You must have a boost fooler on your truck because anything after 23lbs of boost the computer will de-fuel the engine.

Is your turbo stock? The stock turbo is set to open at like 8-10 pounds of boost so that seems pretty good to me. Steam the hydra should take care of that.

@@brandon22333, my turbo is stock but i turned in the wastegate rod so the wastegate stays shut longer to build more pressure. What i meant in the case of a boost fooler is the computer is programmed to defuel the engine at anything above 23psi. You need to install a boost fooler so the computer won’t see anything over 23psi even though the turbo is making more boost. The hydra tuner only takes advantage of the boost fooler. You need to have the boost fooler to compliment the hydra because even with the hydra installed on the PCM the PCM will still defuel the engine if it sees more than 23psi of boost and your check engine light will turn on.

@@JLCmike4014 I had emailed php about this when I first got my chip and I got the answer that it is not needed because it keeps the code from being set which in return keeps it from defueling. But since then I put bigger injectors bigger turbo 5 inch exhaust cold air intake stage 2 Hpop and some fuel modifications so I then added a fooler wasn’t sure if the custom tuning would take care of it or not but when I hit 38ish pounds of boost it’ll throw a code for wastegate control solenoid

I would like to know if you have ever switch the position of hydra tuner during driving/towing? Example: I’m towing a loaded trailer at 70mph and some drivers are going slow and I want to switch to performance tune to pass but fear it will mess the transmission up

As a professional and a diesel truck driver, DON'T CHIP YOUR TRUCK if you want it to last longer , drive it stock. If you want to wear our your truck then be stupid and chip away.
