Something i notice about Calgary is how clean and well kept the city is. Overall it's a nice looking city to live in , and yes , the mountains being so close is an option very few places have to offer.

I couldn't agree more, one of the most noticeable things about Calgary is how clean it is.

Is Calgary better or #Atlantic #regions like Nova Scotia , Saskatchewan or even this end #Vancouver , Victoria Island near Vancouver ? Specially for international candidates and students looking for #universities and #living in Canada first time and then looking for jobs and or immigrating ? What would you say and point out ? How do you compare them ? *Which university choice would you Say is better and isn't like for example BC having much better weather and climate and VIEWS and Beaches !* What are the pros and cons of each region ??

Hi Ravi, there are a lot of factors that go into deciding where to live. The answer to your question could be very different depending on what is important to you in a location. Feel free to send me an email and we can schedule a time to discuss your questions in more detail :)

By the way Anthony, Merry Christmas 🌲🎄 ⛄ and hope you are fine. Wanted to know How is the real estate around the #UNIVERSITY ? University of Calgary and Mount royal and which is better ? Is it the most happening area and are all housings and companies concentrated in that area and can we get jobs there ? How far is it and what are your recommendations about these Universities and the campus and the area around ?! How's living there like ? Is real estate available easily and how far are there from #downtown !!
@merf64
@merf64 2 года назад
Both universities are not a happening place haha. U of C is located in the middle of a residential area, and Mount Royal is between commercial and residential areas. There is nothing around them for entertainment. Other cities have their universities surrounded by cool bars and restaurants...ours not so much.
@deboraabh
@deboraabh 2 года назад
@@merf64 yes heard something like that .. not sure though .. how's others and the other cities .. like the best happening places or a great name Univ ? Both fun and ranking ? Also is Saskatchewan a great idea for like jobs or less crowd so bigger opportunities etc ?? Or not a good deal ? So is BC and Vancouver left or Mc Master, MC Gill, IVEY? , UBC , VIC , VIU , RRU ? *Lastly how's Calgary to live and work and entertainment and hep life and friends and lots of young crowd and even for late 30's and 40's and future kids ??* Where would you personally recommend ?? And does #RANKING #matter for employment and Salary ?? And BEST MBA or Masters programs as per you ??

My biggest pet peeve with Calgary is it is soooooooooooooo boring. Look at any city in the states that is similar size to Calgary 1-1.6 million, and they all have way more entertainment and things to do then Calgary. Our downtown core is empty after 6 pm and weekends, our museum is ok, but a lot of similar size cities have lots of museums and some a lot better. There are way more outdoor things to do around the city (I get it were cold 7 months out of the year). Our restaurant scene sucks. Once you get out of downtown and the surrounding area, it is all franchises, and they are all the same (Moxies, Earls, Joeys, Original Joes, shark club and so on). Go down to the states and they have so many better restaurants. Not much to do for nightlife pre-covid. Yes we have 17th ave, but every city even Regina/Saskatoon has a few block stretch of bars and clubs. Travelling the states, most similar size city has a nice theme park (that would put Calaway park to shame) indoor water parks, huge indoor arcade/play fun centers. Also Calgary is close to...nothing (city wise...besides carbon copy clone called Edmonton). Lastly the one thing I always defended Calgary about was how safe it was. You can go to a small 70k+ city in the states and they have ghettos worst then anything in Calgary, but the past year or two there has been such a huge growth in our homeless population. Its like it doubled over night. People getting attacked on C-trains on a daily basis, drug use out in the open everywhere. Every few days there is a new article in the paper about how unsafe c-trains or downtown is. Also I will mention that I am well aware of the mountains and that is a huge plus for Calgary.

Hi, I appreciate you taking the time to comment and express your opinion. I would have to respectfully disagree with you on a few points though. Calgary's restaurant scene is one of the things the city is known for and is very vibrant with so many great local options to choose from. This is one thing that really sets the city apart from others. Sure you will get more chains in the suburbs but that is comment practice in any city. Sure we don't have a large selection of dance clubs or an exciting amusement park but we have many great options for entertainment and I would say the city is far from boring. We have access to the two largest YMCA's in the world, we have the Canadian Olympic park, we have the largest pathway network in North America for biking, we have two large provincial parks in the city, we have a never-ending list of great restaurants and pubs to choose from, we have lots of sports entertainment with hockey, football, and Lacross. There is also indoor go-carting, an insane amount of escape rooms, a large number of golf courses. A different event or market happening almost every weekend like the Calgary International Beerfest, 4th Street Lilac Festival, the Calgary Stampede, Beakerhead, and a bunch of music festivals. There is also the Calgary zoo, Telus spark, heritage park, river floating and so much more. This is not even including all the great outdoor activities you can do in the mountains all year long.

What about Calgary Madical services? How easy to reach a Doctor or Specialist Doctor? How long is waiting time to see a Eye doctor??
@LivinginCalgaryAnthonyTaylor
This can very significantly and would depended on many factors. I would say the current wait times in the city are longer that historical norms in the area. With that said you can still go to a walk-in clinic and see a doctor within less than an hour typically.

Hi Anthony, how is the rental market in calgary for a detached 4 bed house, if I want to buy now and move in after like a year or two and have the house on rent meanwhile, is that something people do?
@LivinginCalgaryAnthonyTaylor
@LivinginCalgaryAnthonyTaylor 2 года назад
Hi Samister, thank you for commenting. The rental market very much follows the housing market, with that said rent prices have seen an increase as well as demand. The best place to see up-to-date rental prices is www.rentfaster.ca. I hope that helps, feel free to book a call with me as well if you'd like to discuss anything in more detail. tidycal.com/anthony5/meet-with-anthony1

How bad is hail in the summer?
@LivinginCalgaryAnthonyTaylor
@LivinginCalgaryAnthonyTaylor 2 года назад
Ho Joel, great question! Depending on what part of the city you live in the hail isn't actually that bad. You might see one or two big storms a year. There just have been a few in recent years that have caused lots of damage in the NE and SW but for the most part it shouldn't be a concern.

The road infrastructure in this city leaves much to be desired. there is only ONE way to get around from location one to location two. your only other option is going on a road trip that takes up a lot of gas and lots of time. both are expensive these days bud.

 @Shep Hi, thanks for commenting. I certainly see where you are coming from although after traveling to other major cities I feel this is something that you find everywhere. The completed ring road will definitely help with this as well moving forward.

its one thing to put policies in place to deter waste, its another to exhibit this type of greed to people not in a position to opt out of a service they don't want, need, use or asked for...you have to see the people first hand experiencing this greed to actually feel the greed...shame shame on this once great city for treating their citizens this way...

Calgary is the greediest city in the country..take for example the Blue & Green bins...they force everyone including those who cannot afford these bins to pay for them regardless whether they use them or not...they were supposed to be paying for themselves when first introduced but now they force eveyone to pay for them. Ive noticed some seniors going without proper clothing or proper heat in their homes because of this unfair burden on their utilities.. Ive seen seniors going without their prescriptions because of this unfair charges forced on them...have you seen a utility bill from Calgary yet? they charge you for water and then water surcharges, and then administrative charges on top of it, then they charge you for cleaning the water you use and then surcharges and administrative charges on top of it, then they charge you for the sewer charges then administrative charges on top of it and you guessed it, they charge you again and again for administrative charges...

Hi John, I am sorry you feel that way and I see this must frustrate you as this is not the first time you have commented about this one my channel. While I know the $24 monthly fee can seem unnecessary to some people. I believe the City put these in place to help keep our City clean by recycling and reducing waste in our landfills.
