I’m moving to Fredrick next month! Moving to Ijamsville with my gf. I love Fredrick it’s way nicer and peaceful then Montgomery county where I’ve been. I’m so excited!!!

We just moved to Frederick about 5 1/2 years ago. overall, I like it here. I feel like people are a bit nicer. Like any place in America, it has its cons too. But in the time that we have been here, its definitely growing and seems to be moving towards bright future.

I moved to Frederick and adopted it as my hometown in 1996. I had to move away a couple times to care for parents, etc., and went through a divorce and had to rent for a while. It has gotten way too expensive. I wanted so badly to buy and stay here but I can't---and I think I make decent money as a nurse! The average house (common ordinary, not too fancy) is $350-400,000 and the taxes are so high. Cant even find anything affordable ($250,000-$300,000) within the county. :*(

I've never lived in Frederick myself, but my mother did and I spent so many weekends there. I miss the area, but I don't think I'll ever have the money or job skills to move there. A cousin of mine still owns the house my mother used to live in, but gaaaah. I miss it.

Frederick is nice, but I just found out about the whole cancer-cluster situation with Fort Detrick. That has made me worried about living there.

Quick question - is living in a townhouse looked down upon or is that just the ‘norm’ in Frederick?? Also - is Jefferson Place a decent area?

Its not frowned upon at all. It really comes down the lifestyle that works best for your family. The townhouses here range all different price points from starter homes to full on luxury town houses with elevators.
