I work at the fire station in MDR and I can tell you that the area is extremely safe. Especially for being so close to Venice. The sheriff station and the life guard station keep the area fairly quiet. Most of our calls have to do with millennials having an anxiety attack or the homeless who wander down from Venice and people calling us because they are literally sleeping on the sidewalk. Also, Marina Hospital is close to the area and we get homeless who are transported there from other areas of the city. When they find out that they aren’t going to get any pain meds, they walk out and down the street and call us. We send them up to Santa Monica or down to Inglewood and thus the cycle continues. I live in Santa Monica and ride my bicycle to work, it’s great. Very bike friendly community, Very safe and the people are really nice.

Love this. My kids live in Playa Vista so I visit the area a lot. I come in from Phoenix and I have fallen in love with Marina del Rey and usually stay, eat and play there. I am actually covering Marina del Rey tomorrow morning on a local morning show that I do travel and lifestyle segments on. Loved your video and I agree with all of the pros...I have stayed in Marina del Rey about 6 times a year since 2020 so I have become somewhat familiar with the area and the awesome people there. I love that LAX is close and I haven't noticed airplane noise at all.

I have lived in MdR for about 20 years. It is generally more expensive that options available in Venice, Playa Vista, etc. unless you are in one of the older properties. Houses, in general, are multiples of millions. The publish condo prices make it seem like they are less expensive but given that they are generally on leased land owned by the county, there is a hidden cost that makes HOV fees 2-3x more, making them significantly more than their 'published' price.

You bring back many memories for me as well. I also lived there during the early 70s onward on Bora Bora Way. Also live at Mariner's Village Apartments for some time as well. Those were the good old days!

I lived in Marina Del Rey at an apartment next to the Cheese Cake Factory in the early 2000s, loved it, had a boat which I kept in a slip next to the apartment. It was not cheap, but cheaper than Santa Monica. I would never live in Venice because of the crime. You never had to turn on the AC living here, actually don't recall if I even had an AC.

FYI Sea lions are brown, bark loudly, "walk" on land using their large flippers and have visible ear flaps. Seals have small flippers, wriggle on their bellies on land, and lack visible ear flaps.

FYI, if you want to move to Alabama then I'll suggest Golf Shores which is a very beautiful beach town which offers great amenities and it's very cheap so a lot of low income and retirees live but I'm planning to move to Marina Del Rey regardless..... I have been blessed to have worked on several Film and TV projects as a Background Artist aka extra before and every time I was booked I enjoyed that place greatly gals and guys 😎

One of the cons would be during coastal flooding due to storms or tsunami, you want to be further inland. You can always visit the coast, no need to live there 24/7

it's rare to see a storm or tsunami in Los Angeles haha

There’s never been a tsunami in the modern days. You obviously have no idea what MDR is like.
