I'll clear this up, the internal SSD of the PS5 has faster read and write times than external SSDs. It's around 7000MB/s. The WD Black P50 is 2000MB/s, which is why it was faster to copy the games over to the external SSD, than copy games back to the internal console SSD through the external SSD. You will need an internal M.2 SSD like the SN850 to play PS5 games.
Sony recommends People to plug in External Hard Drive to the back for faster speed and its more reliable that it won’t disconnect for no reason even if its plugged in
Great video. But as i test it before you can use your external ssd with those two usb 3.2 in the back of the ps5 too. Just buy a female type c to male regular usb converter and you can connect those external ssd to the back of the ps5. The speed is the same because despite the front usb 2.0 that just for changing the controllers the other two usb 3.2 in the back and type c in the front are all have 10GB speed support. 😃👍
doesn’t need to be hooked up to the USB-C port on the front the two on the back have the exact same speed so you can use the USB-C to Type A included in the box.
So you gonna tell me I can get the T7 Samsung for like $150 or so and it works on the ps5 no problem? Meanwhile a WD P50 is like $300. Wouldn’t ppl just buy the Samsung if they work exactly the same? Am I missing something?

i little late bro but im looking for an SSD right now as im typing this for Ps4 in hopes of using on ps5 onces i do decide to purchase 1. i mainly want an ssd to help boost the ps4 loading times. as someone who has used several which do you honestly recommend bro? WD P50, Samsung T5 or T7? ( for ps4 and 5 in the future)
But can it actually run the PS5 titles from the External itself or would it be like my regular external where I need to put a ps5 game on my internal to play im only seeing PS4 titles played
The P50 marketed speed isn't supported by the PS5 so don't get the P50 for PS5. It's simply overkill and you won't be able to take advantage of it's highest speeds.
@@MilkshakeGuruTTV seems like the back ports are more reliable, yet i've read both the front C port and back usb ports are the same speed. Back forsure though as USB A is always trusted since day 1.
