Another handy tip with gloves is to use a cotton glove liner. It’s thin and goes inside the glove. I use this trick all of the time, it prevents sweaty clammy hands and allows you to take the gloves on and off very easily.

Wearing nitrile gloves while airbrushing is a real game changer! I started wearing them several years ago and have kept the practice going. Great topic!

Scott, thanks for watching and sharing your experiences. Gloves are a really useful tool at the workbench.

Another glove that is handy is the food handling glove. These are great for quick protection while painting models; they are cheaper than other gloves, and go on easier. I keep a box near the spray booth.

@@FineScaleModelermagazine I use them to hold the model while I spray with the other, ungloved, hand, so it doesn't require the dexterity of a nitrile glove. My hands are biggish, so it's nice to not have to struggle with a tight glove for a quick operation.

Thanks for the tip segment, Tim. I probably should go get some gloves, and given the number of hardware stores around me I have no excuse not to! Also that TIE looks amazing. It's a little pricey for me, but I think I'd feel comfortable doing it. I'd probably paint it like an Inferno Squad TIE, but I can imagine it'd look great painted as Sabine Wren's custom.

It's now at the front of my queue for models to review. I just finished up the 1/48 (1/51) TIE/in for review and it should appear on FineScale.com. For the Revell Outland TIE and the TIE/in I've used the Archive X TIE colors that are color matched to the movie miniatures. I may use those again for the big guy, but I might go another direction. I'll decide once I'm in medias res. If you do build one, make sure to send us images and info for Reader Gallery! -TK

I can't build with gloves on, it reduces the amount I feel too much. Rather than gloves and/or wet wipes, I will simply give my hands a quick wipe with a paper towel that has some rubbing alcohol on it. I will also give the model a rubdown with alcohol before painting anything. I'll use gloves for airbrushing, however. That saves a lot of cleanup.

Enjoyed the episode and the model show. But could you please slow down and maybe spend at least 1 second on each model? Even slowing down the video it was difficult to focus on one build, with so much great work being shown. Edited to add: Or maybe use the gallery images in the video.

You should remove all finger jewelry before putting on the gloves.
@FineScaleModelermagazine
@FineScaleModelermagazine 11 месяцев назад
You can, and some might consider it a best practice because a ring could tear the glove, but not everyone has that option--some people's fingers give bigger over time and those rings don't come of or go back on so easily. FWIW, I wear gloves all the time and don't have a problem pulling them over my rings. -TK

Slow down chaps! everything is far too rushed to take in! Especialy the pictures of the model show. Too fast even to pause to take the models in for a close look). Iam 83 with 75 years of consistent modelling behind me.I remember the very first plastic kits when I was still carving"solid" aircraft and ships. Regards, Walter.
