My husband has a ferritin level of 2ng and his hemoglobin level was 4 they gave him a iron infusion put him on iron pills i brought him home and made him eat pig liver, pig heart, and the kidneys along with lots of beef and when he went back his ferritin level was 106 and hemoglobin was 13 .he is doing so much better. And had his energy back he is only 55.
This is brilliant! I didn’t fully understand PSMF (maybe due to the terminology), - being borderline diabetes 2, struggling with weight management. Just what I needed - good science explained. Thank you, Craig, I’m saving this video. 🙏
I’m a follower of Dr Jason Fung, very interesting on your insight on modified fasting! Definitely will try it out. I have lost 40+ lbs and probably 20+ to go, thanks to Dr Fung.
I recently started 24 hr+ fasts having learned from Dr. Fung. I’m glad I did but it’s not super comfortable and difficult when the rest of the family is eating. I’m glad to have this as another tool in the toolbox, allows me to eat with my family. Just need to get my quarantine 6 lbs off. Too much yummy fat and less walking……
Wonderful presentation, and one of the most complete information out there about keto- carnivore, it should get millions of views! Thank you, I know my lesson now, and what to tell people who are questioning me on the carnivore diet. 👍
Thanks, Craig! I get it. I stalled on Carnivore plus OMAD and extended fasting. Lotta bad advice out there from world-class athletes to those of us crawling back from diabetes, etc., LOL. Marty Kendall's Data-Driven fasting and protein sparing kick-started weight loss, glucose drop and proper re-direction. My faith in M.D.'s decreases by the day. Sad.
Dude, your hypothesis that dietary fat is the primary component of adipose tissue flies directly in the face of the work being done at BYU by Dr. Ben Bikman and his team. Can you cite the data for your assertion?
I think it is right ,your fats have to get stored first. Not medium chained but when carbs are around you have oxidative priority which is different name for Randel cycle where fats loss battle against carbs and have to go to storage ,high tryglicerids are effect of Ranndel cycle, dumping fats in blod.
No it doesn't! Maybe you just didn't pay attention to the data, but no matter what the fat intake is no matter how low the intake is including some of those people limiting their fat grams to less than 10percent a day or less, the fat you eat is the fat that is stored then utilized depending on activity levels.
I know a lot of very skinny drunks. I see them and I think how are they skinny and they drink so much? Here I am trying to lose weight and can’t even have a drink
It seems like there is plenty for research out there suggesting that fat does NOT stimulate insulin release. I’d like to see the evidence he is using to make that statement.
Carnivore, which this is, is not for me. I have enough of a problem getting enough potassium and am very happy and healthy on healthy keto. Our ancestors were carnivorous when they could catch the animals which was not always consistent from what I have read.
Antinutrients in plants inhibit absorption of potassium resulting in deficiencies. On Carnivore, after adaptation period, you won't need to supplement potassium as red meat is rich in it. Watch Amber O Hearn video on RDAs. You'll be surprised how little we need in absence of Antinutrients.
If I don't have weight to lose is PSMF for me? I have been keto for 2 years but find when I go full carnivore I can't handle my running training programme (8 hours a week and training for a 100 mile event).
PSMFs are typically great for people that have body fat & weight left to lose & can assist with breaking stalls. If you're already at your desired weight, PSMF can sometimes help again reduce body fat & maintain muscle mass. I don't think that's something you 'need' to do, but if you want to try it once a week & see how you feel - go for it. If you aren't consuming fat & also don't have much fat on your body to use, then I can see you maybe not responding as well to someone with a lot of extra weight they'd like to use (essentially more fat to use for fuel if not consuming on PSMF days). Hope this helps. Maria & Craig to explain this in some of their videos.
I don't mean to criticize, but there is a glaring inconsistency here. In the beginning he criticizes BP coffee drinkers for adding a small amount (15-30g?) in order to extend their fast. Later in the video when he details the PSMF he points out that some amount of fat is necessary for delivery of fat soluble vitamins and allots 30g of fat during a fasting day, in tandem with lean protein. This is a larger disruption to insulin and more calories than the original person who was criticized for adding a spoon of coconut oil or butter.
For a PSMF day, it is 30g of fat MAX for the entire day versus someone adding 15-30g of fat for a BP coffee, and then eating other foods that also include fat, so you’re over the 30g threshold which leads to your body holding on to fat in the cells. In general though, everyone has a different response to eating different amounts of fat, always do what is best for you as you know your body best.
carnivore food only, want to modified fasting, but unsure on cooking. weights of meat looses fat/water on grilling ,do i weight raw/cooked please ,, there's a huge fluctuations weights .so over eating protein r under eating all fat moisture drips away on grill.
I aweigh food after I cook an example was tonight I cooked Cod, I weighed it when I took it from the freezer and then when it thawed and then again after cooking it started at 16.3 oz and ended up at 12.4..oz I put the 12.4 oz in my tracker to make sure I’m hitting my protein.
Thank you. For some reason I have a hard time with the mental motivation for complete fasts. I can do them, and have done a 7 day fast before, but it takes a lot of mental determination to do it. (F.O.M.O.!) I am sure a modified fast as described will be just the thing help me incorporate more 'fasting' so I can get the fat loss I need.
