Prototype Soap Testing - Fine Marvel DE - Myrsol Formula C aftershave

Interesting video, Michael! There are so many diff soap bases out there now. Hopefully this artisan will be able to adjust the formula to improve performance. Blade tabs. They don't bother me. I have razors that have exposed tabs and some are covered. I don't remember ever nicking myself on a blade tab. Tabs haven't been an issue in 5+ yrs, so tonight's shave will probably result in stiches! I've always enjoyed alcohol based aftershaves. I feel like the antiseptic quality benefits my skin. I usually follow up later with a balm or moisturizer. I did buy the Fine Marvel razor and enjoy the way it shaves. It definitely adds more variety to my shaving arsenal. Thanks! Cheers! -Rob

Yes! Myrsol "C" and "Plastic" are fantastic for my skin with "Emulsion" coming in third(a different type product), all great performers for me👌 Haven't tried the Marvel razor, most users like it though. Blade tabs😉 I was part of a test group for an aftershave produced by a mainstream, well known, artisan company. After many variations of the splash and doing my best to give honest critique, I was overwhelmed with performance vs scent and longevity🤔 Well, they did go on to produce the product and it's available today. A real experience to say the least. Nice video Michael👍 Enjoy!

Nice look at the ways you assess the lather and razor working together. You also make constructive remarks about the sense and the effects of after shave. I do not ordinarily towel off, or dry, my face. There is always a thin layer of water on my face when the after shave goes on. Some have more of an "alcohol" hit than others; some are referred to by the makers as skin food. Either way, the after shave is part of the experience. End tabs, I think, are getting somewhat compensated for by razor design. That said, another nice tutorial!

I am an every other day shaver and even I find this Fine razor to be a bit on the assertive side of things. I think if I were a daily shaver I'd find this razor uncomfortable. Still, it is a good razor, perhaps better (or best) put to work on several days of growth. Thanks for uploading Michael!

I am relatively new to DE shaving, but can say with full conviction that I love the idea of zero overhang, due to nose(inside) cuts.

Following on from last week where we discussed the fact what works for one... etc... Nice to see you use the Marvel. The blade gap is almost double that of my 'go-to' Rockwell Plate 3 and I feel that has to be a factor in how it just didn't work for me. Like you said, you certainly feel the blade in the Marvel.

Hi Michael. For the most part I quit using after shaves many years ago. I`m fair skinned and they just seem to turn my face red. On the rare occasions that I do use it, I`ll drop a few drops of water into the after shave and it ends up about a 50/50 mix. If it does my skin any good its really not that noticeable. Most of the time I just use a warm water rinse and then cold. Have a good week. Thanks for the video.

Micheal, I couldn’t agree more about the blade tabs. I have a similar curvature on my neck and issue with the corners of my nose. It’s funny though, the only razor I’ve had a bit of an issue with getting the blade out is my Tech. For what ever reason the blade just gets stuck in the top cap and I have to pry that sucker out.

You say the soap is not dissipating. Looking at the video, to me it does look like it got tendencies to disappear. Edit: I’m more of a balm person - but perhaps I just never tried a well formulated after shave? After shaves never interested me as I focus on reducing skin irritations to a minimum. Regarding the discussion about the blade ends sticking out - I don’t care much about that but what I do care about are base plates with annoying “sharp/pointy” corners (my ej got a bit too sharp corners)

Hello, "Never put Aftershave on your shaved skin" No, "Put Aftershave on because it's an antiseptic" It's bad, it's good, you shouldn't, yes you can, its fine. "Jesus".... I started wet shaving, no wait! what am I saying, after every Shave I've ever had, either with an Electric razor, or cartridge or DE blade, I've always 'Slapped on' aftershave because I like the damned smell, and I always will....... Remember, #shavinglikeyourgrandfather They did then and we should now...... All the best

aftershave is bad for you? i get it that they dry your skin, but don't they also have good qualities?
