I live in italy, dominic speaks with a southern italian accent like Sicilian or something similar while doc was speaking proper italian but his pronunciation sounds like a native English speaker but he spoke well, at least the few words that he said.
They hadn't gotten that far yet. He's a man of his word. He agreed to the job, it's a contract, and he'll honor the contract. A person's word is important, treat it like a cheap trinket and it'll end up in the garbage.
A true italian with integrity. Some of those guys in the old days always kept their word, whole business transactions were sometimes conducted verbally. You cannot imagine that being the case today, it would be foolish
I owed my Italian friend $19 but gave him $20 instead, he proceeded to break my kneecaps with a crowbar for giving him $1 extra, said my word couldn't be trusted as I only owed him $19 but gave him $20, safe to say I learned the hard way what an Italian man's word means
I don't know much, but in the criminal world you still only get to rely on the other people's word What are you gonna do, sue them? 😂 I guess it's more the fear of retaliation rather than respect or honor that makes it somewhat work though 🤔
They likely didn't know this, but I imagine a classically trained musician would be able to understand a bit of Italian, or at least recognize the slur
@@sampsonfeliciano8496 You go, Ratso. The funniest was the guys eating fried chicken in the car. "What do I do with this"? (a chicken bone) says Doc. "We do this"! (throws it out the window) says Tony. Loved the cars they used. Great portrayal of life under Jim Crow in the 60's.
Viggo transformed in this role i didnt recognize it was him. He didnt use prosthetics or change his appearance the way he carried himself in this was amazing
I dont think he transformed per say think all the qualities he displayed in the movie were already on the surface. He just acted the way he did before becuase of the people he hung round with.
@@donfrank2544he's a chameleon...his appearance is radically different depending on the role...he looks a thousand times different from Aragorn here & absolutely nothing like he did in G.I. Jane...
Man you said it. My word is my bond. In today’s world I’ve given way too much credit and running room for people I’ve had to be affiliated, I have been disappointed nearly (nearly being 99.9 percent) every time, I have however found ONE person whom I can count on every single day, even when I ain’t worth nothin. Jesus is there and lifts me up and I hear…. Keep lookin. Keep lookin. We’re out there. Keep lookin. So far I keep lookin. Fact of the matter is, worlds not what it used to be. We’re all losing it and spiraling 🌀 out of control, and if you deny that then you’re not even lookin. I remember a time when I would blush…when the world had time for each of us individually, … now media and this contraption your most likely reading this from has gotten its viewers, visual, sight. Lock in. Zoned in. Acute visualization HERE. Real quick. What did you forget to do today What did you push off because, in a minute you’ll get to it What options do your REALLY provide yourselves(me too I’m not excluding myself) Where did we give up When did we stop When was the last super we prayer at with our when it wasn’t thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc…. We need Jesus of Nazareth guys.. we need a word that’s strong. I’m sorry I don’t even know why I went off on this.
Although this movie(as with life...in the time period) had many sad and fretful moments. . the overall affect of Tony... made my heart swim. Tony is what the best in humanity represents!!!
That is how you make a connection with someone who will trust you his entire life, depending on your job it can be worth much more then money, but if you work for a big corpo, take the promotion and the $ :D
@@floydblack3521 Nah...living in the real world and not fantasy land. You must see what you think is that. Because in reality someone that genuinely fits that mark is actually very rare. Look a little harder and you will figure it out.
Whether or not this happened. It show some people are true. Now some may say whether or not? I choose to believe that there is honor - honor on a deal - honor between people. This is how we should be and can be.
I just found out I am part Italian. I have always had integrity and valued my word and friends over gain etc. I didn’t know that it was a known Italian trait.
Anyone that can't accept "I gave them my word" isn't worth doing business with. Clearly if they can't respect commitments you've given, you can't expect them to honour any commitments they may "give" you. Your word is one of the few things people can't take away from you. If you give that up, you're working against yourself in compounding ways.
Condottiero were Italian Mercenaries. They would take payment to fight Wars on behalf of City States. And many times they would take payment from one City, just to go to their Rival City and tell them how much they were paid. Then the Rival City would pay them extra to not attack them. But One Condottiero, Federico da Montefeltro, The Count of Urbino, did not work this way. He would take payment, then never break his word. He became so famous for his loyalty, that Cities would pay him, to not take up arms against him. That's the vibe I got from this clip. His word is his bond. And he will not break it, even for a "better" Deal.
Dont be dismantle by what you see. Remember Jesus went to hell thinking the devil had one against the MIGHTY #1, ONLY TO be robbed by the keys of hell. For God had instructed him from the beginning, & knew he would never betray HIM."
Okay so, Let’s be real here. The manager realized the guy is invaluable and couldn’t afford to lose him so he offered a promotion and a salary increase. My dude here wasn’t planning on leaving, so he didn’t take it. I think my dude here , Mr Tony, should have said “thank you for the salary increase and promotion. I accept it. Also, I’m happy and honored to see how much you value my work and I promise to keep doing it well to the best of my abilities. I would like to still go down for the drink with my old friends. Thank you again.”
Just for the people who don't understand Italian a egg plant in Italian means ninja for the black top of the eggplant Just like in black man talk pasta dish means Italian
And to think that they formed a great friendship until the day of their respective deaths...... when prejudices are put aside, it is incredible how reality changes ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I still do business with verbal agreements. But I never let myself get in a position to be screwed by the other party so bad I can't recoup the loss somewhere else. So that only goes for some people, not for big outfits. I'll diligently read the contracts with them. I also like to give new people the opportunity to screw me on small things. They only get to do that once. But it doesn't happen anymore. These days, I have people around me I can trust because they know they can trust me in return. You get as much as you give. Remember: your reputation is everything, especially if your business niche is relatively small.
Honestly, Doc should've trusted him from the start. He didn't know Doc could speak, or even understand, Italian. For all he knew, everything they said on the street was gibberish to the man, but Tony still made it clear he has a job, and he's going to do it.
