Provenza Vinyl Plank Flooring Review - We've had our flooring for a little over a year, so I thought I'd do a little video review. Don't the before and after shots look amazing?! I'll go over some tips on how to care for your LVP floors and teach you how to clean vinyl plank flooring.

Thanks so much for the detailed review! I have a sample of Finally Mine and Sweet Talker and hopefully my indecisive self can make a decision soon. Quick question-do the painted bevels scratch at all? We have a big dog...I LOVE the bevels, but I'm a bit worried about the dog's nails. Thoughts? Thanks!

I don't have dogs, just kids, but we haven't had trouble with them scratching. Sorry, I know that doesn't help.

I just ordered a sample and it has a bunch of lighter lines of each board. I see some on yours but what’s yours take on how it needed up? I am doing some larger rooms and concerned about the amount of light lines on it. Thanks for any help.

I’ve just had Provenza City Chic (another LVP line) in the Fire & Ice color installed throughout my house and I am very happy with how it looks. But, I was very surprised to learn that I cannot use any rug pads that have rubber to keep them from sliding around. I see that you have rugs, what kind of backing do your rugs have? I’ve found a company which makes a backing that is not a petroleum based rubber. It has a soybean oil and bio-based filler and does not contain any plasticizers such as phthalates. Is this a safe option?

I buy rugs without backings attached and find safe pads to use. It took lots of searching, but I think I found some at bed bath and beyond online that were labeled non-yellowing. I don't know about any of the other options.

Can you use a steam mop to clean them? Like a shark steam mop?

No, you can't use steam on them.

It has an attached underlayment, so they didn't add anything else. They did put a plastic moisture barrier down since I'm on a concrete slab. Make sure to read the installation instructions on whatever product you choose. It will usually tell you what to use.

Walls are Sherwin Williams Repose Gray at 50% strength and trim/cabinets/ceiling are Sherwin Williams Pure White.

Does it expand or buckle in standing water? We had some product that got wet and the edges buckled and made ridges. Terrible. How does this product do with water? Thanks.

I haven't had a ton of standing water on it, but it has done fine with spills and random melted ice cubes that my kids leave on the floor.

Are you able to give us the name of your vacuum? It is a real challenge to find a vacuum that has a beater bar shut off on it that is lightweight. Is your a battery-powered or cord-powered one? We just installed Fire and Ice by Provenza and are loving it after removing the carpet and hardwoods.

Yes, it's the Hoover Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum. I really don't recommend it though. It constantly gets clogged and half the time I turn on the beater bar anyway because it doesn't really work without it. So glad you are loving your flooring!

We got a sample of this flooring but it looks much lighter than in your video and pics. I know a sample may not show the true look as maybe the darker part of the plank was not in the sample we happened to get. In your experience, was the sample a lighter color than what it overall looked like when installed? Also, we're debating ordering just a box of planks to lay them out and see if we like this color. Did you do anything like that? Thanks!

I was able to get a pretty large sample, and there are some boards that are slightly darker than others. I didn't order a box, but I think it's a great idea. It's such a big decision, so if you are able to return it, and you aren't sure, I'd definitely recommend doing that.

I thought the same thing but as the floor was being laid out by the installers, my fears faded and I LOVE the way it turned out. The color changes with the amount of light in the room.

have you installed it over a wood subfloor or cement slab? do you have any crackling sound like sand in the bevels? Thank you

It's installed on a concrete slab foundation. I also have some upstairs in my bathrooms now, which is over a wood sub-floor. I haven't had any problem with crackling sounds.

@@CutesyCrafts Thank you! We have some sounds like plastic on the sand when you step on it, not always, but especially when you step on seams.

I'm looking at the Uptown Chic line of Provenza LVP which has a microbevel rather than the little bit of grout-type lines in-between the planks. Do you find that crumbs, etc., tend to build up in between your planks? Maybe I'm overthinking this!

I use a vacuum without a beater bar to clean my floors, so it sucks the crumbs out. The bevels will get a little bit of gunk in them over time, but I didn't notice until just now, 2 years later. If I have to clean them out every 2 years, I'm okay with that.

We chose this and are unhappy with it. The floor looks awful. The finish is dull and has splotches where it looks like the finish has worn off.

Do you get any areas where the planks feel spongy? Do you know if your installer also used a vapor barrier since it's on top of concrete?

Sorry for the late reply. I don't have an spongy areas. He did use some kind of plastic as a "just in case" measure. We had problems in our last house with moisture in the concrete foundation, and I wasn't taking any chances. The installation instructions should say what's required.

@@beefcake681 We noticed the moisture issue before installing vinyl plank in our last home. Actually the day we closed escrow, which was really lame. The old bamboo flooring had dark spots and there was mold under it when we pulled it up. Moisture tests confirmed it was too high, which was why we went with LVP. Eventually we figured out the moisture problems were due to poor drainage around the house. Every time it rained, there was water pooling all around the foundation. I don't know if all LVP is the same, but the one we chose in our previous house could be installed with higher levels of moisture in the slab than laminate. In our new house, we chose it because of the waterproof and scratch resistant features.

I was all set to order wood look tile throughout home minus bedrooms and master. I have wood color of golden honey oak cabinets and trims. My thoughts on vinyl plank have been mixed because of what it might emit in air and the uneasy feeling of plastic The cost of tile has doubled now so rethinking is there a color you think might balance orange tones? I think you're going to love it! As far as color, I'm not sure. I had honey oak cabinets in my previous house, and we went with a browner floor. I think it looked okay. Best bet is to get some samples and put them next to the cabinets to make sure they don't clash. Good luck! Flooring is such a hard decision to make!

We had Provenza Uptown Chic installed in over 3500 sq ft. We are not happy with it. The floor is dull and there are splotches where the protective finish looks worn off. The house was finished in 2021 and we are a retired couple who are meticulous housekeepers. In hindsight it would have been better to have chosen engineered hardwood. The floor looks cheap.

I'm considering the Provenza lvp vs hardwood as well but the cheapest hardwood (on sale too) is at minimum 40% higher cost. Did you price any hardwood?

The sample of Finally Mine looks SO much more gray than ANY of the videos and pictures do online. Does it pull more brown/warm once it's all installed everywhere? I love the way the color looks online in pictures but this gray looking sample worries me 😫

I'm not sure. My mom is looking for new flooring as well, so I brought some of my leftover boards. It looked super gray and dull in her house. We aren't sure if it was the lighting that made it look that way or because it was next to her wood subfloor that is more yellow-y. It has a little gray, but there is still some warmth to it in my house.

I am having the same issue. A floor person told me that floor colors look MUCH WARMER IN PICTURES. Trust what you see in real life and in your own home in your lighting. I like to see pictures of rooms so that I can see if any patterns show up larger scale. Hope that helps.

@@CutesyCrafts I actually just had Finally Mine installed and I LOVE it! It was so much warmer /more brown once fully laid out . The small sample can be tricky since you move it from room to room and it changes with each room. Once it's all laid and blends together, it's more consistently brown/warm. I'm glad I went with my gut feeling!

Simply Vintage, I'm having the same issue as your post. The sample I have from the dealer is of 4 connected planks connected to a backing board. The sample looks very very gray in all the rooms under any light. Did you speak with the manufacturer before making your decision or did you just take a leap of faith? I love the texture and character of the boards but the gray feels almost green or ash. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Different companies will charge a different amount, and it will also depend on where you live. I'd call a few local retailers and get price quotes from them to compare.
