Now, blend both amps together! Haha! The rectifier has that tinge of treble brilliance to it that I love. Gives it a hi fi sound, and it’s really tight, but the MT-100 has that big low mid sizzle with a little more sag to it. Both are absolutely killer amps! Great demo!
They’re both really good, and have that similar vibe, but I think I still have to tip my hat to the Mesa. It just sounds like it breathes more- it’s more open and doesn’t sound like there’s a blanket over the speakers, if that makes sense?… At least in the video and through IR. That may not be the case “in the room” through a cab. Great job as always, Blake!👍🏻🤘🏻
Great video! If the the MT-100 is anything like the Archon, the presence needs to be a little higher than you think. That might have made them sound a little closer. 🙂
I like mids to be wider and more prominent in the lows so PRS for me, but the Recto has its place. I agree with others that in this clip the upper mids of the Recto sound more prominent
interesting. The MT100 reminds me of a bogner a bit. At least in this clip it has this lower mid fullness to it while the rectifier, suprisingly has that upper mid shine. Great usable sounds both. Also great playing!
Nice video. Well, Tremonster did use Bogner and Mesa amps simultaneously for some time. The MT PRS is supposed to capture his monster tone. This is like watching a father and son play basketball with each other.
Both sound fantastic. However I think the comparison is a little unfair, I'm perceiving the Rectifier as much louder which makes the PRS sound weak overall. The PRS can compete much better when I increase the volume a little, it then basically becomes a competition of the PRS'es mid punch vs the Recti's upper frequency bite. The ideal sound would be more in between for me though, the PRS could use some of that high end presence that the Mesa has, but not as much, because it's a little too harsh for me.
Damn, the Rectifier mops the floor with the MT100... There's smth about the MT100 that doesn't quite do it for me. It sounds solid statish, too sterile idk...
@@blakemansfield2356 right?? But I was so excited about this amp, I'm a huge Tremonti fan, I have an Archon and I love it and I also like the MT15, but the MT100 does not sound like a bigger version of the 15 for some reason, which is disappointing.
@@guitarlair Well now that’s a little odd. I have a friend who lives close by that has an MT15 I’m going to borrow. Will definitely do some clips to see if that’s true
Thanks for the comparison video. Is that reverb/delay added in post or are you running something through the FX loops? Very sweet sounding. Great top end sizzle
I've got the MT15 and I must admit it's a little gem so I'm not surprised the big brother sound as good as that👍 Both amp are wonderfull, the perfect blend for 2 guitarists in a band😊 Nice demo, thanks.
@@blakemansfield2356I don’t admittedly like that it’s scooped, but the extra rawness and aggression made it the winner for me. Would be cool to also hear the orange channel against the MT. Orange ch is my go-to in Recto’s
@@blakemansfield2356 I find the orange channel has a lot more growl and richness to the tone vs red being more smooth, bland. Not as tight of course, but other amps I’d use anyway if tightness was the priority. It’s more so with the Rev C & D where I really love the orange ch. To me that’s where the iconic throaty recto lives. Just my opinion
@@mygear1896 All I’ve ever really noticed in the past is less high end on the orange channel. I haven’t messed with this one much yet. I’ve heard the iconic recto growl on every recto I’ve played though 😆
To me, the MT-100 sounds like Tremonti came to Boogie to be blessed with the creamier mark series sound only to be disappointed with the overly scooped overly brilliant/presence sound of the shift to the rectifier amplifiers that were dominating when he came to the scene, so he said F this and added some slower transient Bogners that have that low midrange warmth that kills the rectifier from being truly great at EVERYTHING, and then had them combined into one amplifier.......but instead would've probably been happier with a new Mark VII or an older IV 😂😅 Both of those do sound truly wonderful within their own realms of high gain, though. Certainly no denying that. Ive always felt MT was trying to channel more of an 80s James Hetfield tone, to no surprise, once he started incorporating other amps.
The Mesa definitely comes off as clearer and more articulate - some of the high mids are completely missing in the latter riffing on the MT…is it that case in the room as well??
MT100 for the win. The rectifier has a similar treble frequency as the EVH 5153 Stealth 100 that my ears do not like at all. It is like nails on a chalk board to me.
@@1973starlingI agree the MT100 is definitely not a thin sounding amp. Quite the opposite really. If I did the same settings on both amps the results would be really weird and not a good representation of at least one of the amps.
Honestly, they are both so damn fun to play and just sound great. I’m not sure I have a preference. Depends more on the individual song/riff which one will work better. The extra midrange on the MT100 really gives it some authority, and the recto does its thing like nothing else can. I pick both
lmao at the comments. ya'll know them EQ's on them amps have knobs right? roflmao you could make these two amps sound identical if ya EQ em right. just sayin.
now lets wait for "a few years later" video, servicing Mesa amps is a pure nightmare, hope PRS didnt copy that mess. in this video though Mesa seems to be tigher, better defined
@@bigmike9527 xDDD made my day, is that what you say when you look into the mirror? Right after enumerating all distributors of Mesa in Europe? Oh wait 🤣 Glad I could help, there are many great amps coming from great builders these days, no need to overspend on this.
Mesa looks like an old rev G triple rectifier and if so i have that exact amp i ill be buried with it when i die.something about theMT 100 that just doesn't make my heart flutter or even come close to give me a biner but i loved the Mt 15. Who the fuk knows but i think the mt100 is going to go down as a failure especially considering we've been waiting for 5 years for this amp and im not impressed by anything it has to iffer to be honest.
