I have both 2 stroke long reach hedge cutters and Stihl battery. With the batter ones you can wear the battery on your belt and the hedge cutter feel much less weighty. Also less noise, got a battery blower on order also.

Why prune the bay tree at the beginning with hand shears and not hedge trimmers for quickness?
@westcountrygardenpro7535
@westcountrygardenpro7535 5 лет назад
I keep hedge trimmers for hedges and smaller topiary stuff like this where you need to be accurate I go for handshears. One wrong move with a hedge cutter and you can ruin the shape.

hi there. what a good idea to put a thing round the bottom to collect the trimmings - what is it you have used and what size?

hello mate. how do you find the long pole hedge trimmers.... I just purchased a new one for my gardening business, however I couldn't believe the weight; will I get used to using it in your opinion... and how do you find using yours? compared to my small maruyama hedge trimmers... it's like lifting weights😰. PS: highly recommend maruyama: Japanese engineering at its best)

Hi Nick. No they are fairly weighty I have to say and using them for long periods is bloody hard on the arms. I should say that I'm using them here as my regular hedge cutters are broken and I have been too lazy to get them fixed

What do you do with all your waste? My local recycling centre wont take any commercial waste. I am looking at setting up my own garden maintenance business
@westcountrygardenpro7535

Elliot cross hi Elliot. I try wherever possible to take on gardens where I don't remove waste but where I have to then I can take it to my local recycling centre, get charged of course but it's not much

hello mate, do you have any recommendations on long reach trimmers, aswel shall I go for a dedicated trimmer or have you tried the 3 in 1s such as brush cutter/trimmer.thanks for your time
@westcountrygardenpro7535
@westcountrygardenpro7535 7 лет назад
Hey stig. I think it depends on how much you are going to use the machinery. For example if your setup involves lots of strimming or hedge cutting then it may pay off to invest in a dedicated machine for that. For my business I don't do huge volumes of that work so I have invested in the Stihl kombi unti with strimmer/hedgecutter/polesaw and tiller and I find that works for me. Over time I have bought 2 of the engine units in case of a breakdown. I don't have experience of other makes than Stihl so cant help you there.

Hi mate. Started off with a small maintenance/landscaping firm, then moved over to a large private estate where we did 'proper' horticulture. Have done RHS course and diplomas whilst working

Hi mate is that the 6 foot ladder that you have thank you Gordon
@westcountrygardenpro7535
@westcountrygardenpro7535 7 лет назад
GORDON MCRAE Hi Gordon. That one is the 8ft version of which there are two types, domestic or professional and mine is the pro one....from memory its stronger welding. I use this one day in day out and really love it, very lightweight, strong. I also have the 12ft one which I don't use that often but allows me to do the occasional higher works much more safely.
