My forget me knots are from seeds that were given to me in memory of someone. At the moment I have two beautiful bushes but I'm planning on moving next year and want to take some with me. Can I repot some or will they die?
Really useful video, thank you. I do have one question for you. I've got a new customer that, I think, has a rambling rose, but it's never been pruned. The main stems are about an inch thick and not sprouting any new growth. It's overgrown the space dramatically. How would I go about starting to prune it? It's massive!
January/February? I'm still shoveling snow in Niagara Falls, NY. Forget me not complement my Hostas. Unfortunately, 1st week of June I pull them when cleaning up the beds. Wish they didn't have su h frail roots.😢😢😢
Enjoyed your videos, I notice you stop making videos around covid time I hope covid didn't effect you or your business. . I had a few self employed friends suffer during lock down. . Hopefully you are back gardening or planning a come back 👌
Lots of people claiming to be gardeners are just grass cutting contractors with no interest in plants or presentation. . Our contractor (calls himself a gardener ) has never planted anything just cuts grass and sprays chemicals. You show an interest which will always lead to knowledge. .
Fantastic video thank you. Although I have many climbing roses I am new to a young rambling rose in my garden. Fortunately mine has been pruned this year before being sent out to me. Would I train a rambler the same as a climber? Lateral?
Just came across this video as we’ve just moved and our garden is very heavy clay soil and holds on to the water in winter, I have a pampas grass which is about (4 years old ) in a pot could I put it into our new garden?
So glad i watched your vid. Exactly what I've been trying to do this year. Glad to see I can happily cut a lot harder back. I was too nervous as never done it before
I have what i think is a rambler that i started from my mother's, which came from her mother. I've had no idea how i should manage the pruning, so it's a mess. I started cleaning up deadwood recently with gloves and goggles then decided enough is enough. I just came in and found your video. Glory to God, i might actually be able to do something with this now, if i CAN untangle it. Thank you so much!!
Love the way you think - I do the same in Australia & once you provide quality work , your key customers will stick with you - & I’m fully booked some 6 weeks out.
Great video, thank you. You said for smaller space you would go for something else... what would you go for please? We currently have a privet that was planted by the previous owner. I agree it is far too vigorous for the space it has (a hedge line that is about 1m deep and keeping it 1.5m high). It's also looking very messy from all the pruning and was thinking of doing a hard prune this winter, that's how I found your video! I'm fond of something like a Yew. Do you think that would that be good? Thank you!
Thanks! Our gardener convinced me to cut our very old privet from its current 8 to 12 feet height to about 6 feet, and also to take about 1 foot off of each side of it as it was starting to be really overgrown. It is about a 250 foot long hedge so its going to take a lot of time (and money). We want it to be a bit thicker to hide a road on the other side of. Your two videos convinced me I made the right decision. Looking forward to seeing it fill in next spring!
Great video. Agree with every word. I'm just about to start up and have exactly the same mentality. The days of bunging someone 20 quid to do the garden are long gone. Customers have to realise you've invested thousands in van, fuel and tools which has to be paid back and you're doing physical labour better than they can do it.
Nice video, thank you, Im doing much the same for one of my clients.......... One little suggestion though buddy, next time youre filming, wait until Mr Hammer Happy has finished banging away. hahahah
