Hi coach Daniel. Can you please talk about “if I dont sleep I will lose my mind” fear. That is what causes me the biggest anxiety, fear and sleepless nights 😞
@thesleepcoachschool8192
@thesleepcoachschool8192 2 месяца назад
Hi, yes I’d say this is one of the most common concerns… but I’ve never ever heard of this happening anecdotally or in any case report. We can feel like we are losing our minds without this happening at all. And you this concern is so normal and typical that it shows we have a normal and typical mind 😊

I literally went into insomnia, induced psychosis, and accidentally caught my house on fire so I fully believe you can lose your mind if you don't sleep. That's why this is such a struggle for me. I want to believe that I can sleep, but I have other medical conditions that say otherwise.

@onedarkfrill hang in there, rooting much for you. And you know, although of course how intense the experience is varies for all of us, we can all recall times in our lives when we thought/felt/acted very differently because some inner turmoil. But what your very lucid and insightful comment here highlights is that the fear on so many people’s mind “if I don’t sleep I will lose my mind forever” isn’t backed up by any evidence that can occur… but yes, very grateful for your input and rooting much for you

Start watching the natto playlist on this channel! Keep following these teachings and watching these videos. Reading Daniel's book "This is Natto" also really helped me! I was in the same place as you. It's totally possible to go back to a peaceful state and get sleep...it just takes patience and education. 💛

So in short - we are to live life as if there is NO sleep issue enjoying life as if we had slept and just go to bed and leave it to well it will resolve maybe I’ll sleep tonight or not no big deal perhaps we don’t even think of that question which would be ideal. I agree this often works. I have had stressful events in which I don’t think about sleep and fall asleep because I wasn’t focused on sleep but the other stressor. It’s such an annoying thing But then there are days I don’t think of sleep and still find my self not sleeping with this “access energy I have” just unable to feel that sleepy heavy feeling. That energy is a lot and it’s like why? Could it be old trauma and issues survival stress that is coming out perhaps one has to befriend that stress and let it come out. Ask the “wolf” which is what I call it - I have given it that name because it’s cool and wants to protect. It’s got energy to fight and flight. So I ask the wolf why are you here? Sometimes I understand other times I just don’t and let it be

This goes for sleep paralysis as well! The more you think about it during the day the more hyper aware you will be at night and more likely to cause sleep paralysis

Thank you for this video! I never had insomnia until one night i experienced hypnogogic hallucinations which I'd then become aware of and wake immediately after. It went on for 48 hours of very little sleep. I found your channel videos about awareness and it finally allowed me an hour and half real sleep! It then improved but ill have very bad nights here and there. Or experience these bizarre things any night and fall asleep after. It is scary of course. I have experienced those strange hallucinations while drifting to sleep, hypnic jerks, awarness that strange sensation falling asleep and suddenly realizing it then wide awake again, waking every 1-3 hours, vivid dreams constant anytime i sleep even if for 15 min! I have had hyper sleep to and times im not quite sure if i slept or not. This is crazy to me, considering i slept fine up until these began suddenly one night. It caused me sleep anxiety and worry.. even though i can sleep fine many nights(7-8 hours) yet ill experience these issues and occasional bad night they wont let me sleep until 4am. Have you done any videos on hypnogogic hallucination? If so i havent found any. Would love to hear about it as its scary to experience. Another thing.. at times as i drift into sleep ill have nonsense thoughts that make no sense and i suddenly am aware of those thoughts, think "that doesnt make sense" and am awake again! Is this the same thing as hypnic awareness? I seriously have all the bizarre sleep symptoms except that i DO feel sleepy. Least i have that going for me.. but these disturbances cause me such anxiety and confusion. Can having all of these things that start randomly one night be linked to just hyperarousal? The key is really to just ignore them, befriend them and wakefullness? They make me feel crazy and affect my days as well since i dread bedtime.

Sir I want to know this one thing. I'm sleeping 4-5 hours in the afternoon and 1-2 hours at night, because I cannot sleep at night for 6-7 hours straight, is it okay to sleep like that for recovery process? Because my doctors are against it but this is the only natural way in which I can sleep.

Since the two past month i have had trouble to falling asleep! For one week i successfully slept good without any medication. But most days i was getting 0 sleep hours. My anxiety and stress levels was very high; I was relaxed and calmed but when i was about to drift off my heart bits was rising without amy reason. Yesterday i managed to sleep without any medication using one of your great skills "embrace wakefulness". I was so relaxed and calmed to do something i liked, so later sleep came. I slept for 4hours and obviously i was tired but i have a grreat feeling of success. Later in the evening i take an hour nap; this was a great feeling! Next night went to sleep and immediately slept (amazing progression). After 3 hours i woken up because of the heat! Then i tried to sleep again but the fear of fear to not get enough sleep kicked in! I tried to relax but nothing helped! In fact in my brain i was making credible scenarios like "and if i woke up again from the heat?", "what if the dogs outside barks and they woke you up?", "if i open the air-condition i may dissipate the heat but i create enough drying environment that will cause my mouth dry!". All of this scenarios has happened in the past, so these thoughts were credible but they are only thoughts and nithing else. In reality nothing of these happened at that time; so the environment was friendly to go to sleep but my thoughts about how may things go, created this anxiety setting and i failed into this loop! Is there any tip to use in order to get out of this loop and find my sleep again? Is it true that because i was so happy, relaxed and calmed because i found my sleep the other night, to have got so many expectations about the next night? Thank you in advance!

Hi! Look at words like successful, managed, failed - the show we have an idea we can control sleep and that we celebrate sleep/criticize not sleeping, which are reasons we have trouble sleeping. Without effort, celebrating, blaming ourselves - peaceful sleep happens by itself

Hi Coach Daniel, What do we do if we keep encountering the Houdini effect or adrenaline rushes over and over all night? Do we just stop trying to sleep at all and read or watch shows all night? Or is there ever a time to just lay our heads down? Thanks so much for your help!
@thesleepcoachschool8192

Hi Zelle, It’s all about intent, anything we do that is intended to control it or make it stop signals that something off is going on and we become more jumpy! Anything we do that signals that is okay that these rushes and Houdini effect happens makes us less jumpy. Rooting for you!

I have only been watching these videos for a few weeks, and I say this without hyperbole, but they have changed my life dramatically. I have had a total shift in perspective from these teachings. The sheer simplicity of this approach (or lack of!) is profound in and of itself. For the first time in over a decade I get it. And what fascinates me the most is that knowledge is rarely enough to change behavior, but every once in a while something just "clicks" and you can change course with very little need to steer. Daniel, you are truly a genius. I am in the process of a career change to become a licensed mental health counselor, and I want to include sleep coaching in my practice. I would love to connect with you to tell my story and also discuss your certification program. Is there a way I can contact you directly?
