Back when racing game is all about fun and not about Ultra Realistic, open world , online game. I miss Motorstorm and Twisted Metal on ps3.

Man, I would do nearly anything for a remake (or even just a re-release) of this game. Seeing this game in 2022 brings back memories of a better time......and makes me realize even more the depression of the current time. ^^'

MS is by far the most underrated racing game man 💯

That buggy's suspension disintegrating while landing on the bridge isn't an emulation issue, it also did that on the PS3, so much I learned to aim the landing anywhere away from the grates to minimize that issue. The buggy bottomed out and the game detected the impact as a collision when it was trying to drive out of the grate and onto the wood.

Man I remember playing the demos of this forever at walmart. Wish I had this when it came out

running this with 5600x/3070, runs like a dream except when there are lots of big ones be careful with installing DLCs, one of them seems to make the game unstable

Still one of my favorite racers ever and the pinnacle of the Motorstorm games. I wish they would just do a rerelease like this for newer Playstations. Just give us a modern resolution and more FPS. This would still be great. Would pay money again.

I bought my PS3 in 2010 i think in a bundle with GT5 Prologue and Motorstorm Pacific Rift. I just wanted to play GT5 so bad, but ended up playing Motorstorm waayyy more often 😅😅

Now that reliable PS3 emu is possible, I wonder if we could see some Modnation Racers or Ridge Racer 7 gameplay some time.

Emulation just requires 4 or more cpu cores these days, and depending on the game you should be able to hit 1080p60fps with almost every cpu/gpu combination, with the only real outlyers being certain low-end-cpu's that you really shouldn't be playing any games on anyway, I mean, like really low end ones, to the point where phones outperform them without additional cooling. the exception to this is that ps3 requires more cores. also, you need a cpu with at least SSE4 or 4.1, I have no clue what that means, the easiest way to not have to think about it, is to assume everything produced after a certain year has it anyway. like 2016/2017. so yeah, if you want to use some old office computer that you really had no other use for whatsoever, and it has less than 4 cores, or it was made before SSE4, then you'd be limited in what you can run. so you'd have to limit it to everything up to but EXCLUDING GameCube emulation. also, if this truly is the case for you, then get OLDER emulation software, most emulators have archival copies available online. if you are certain your intended computer is like from the last 5-6 years, and it doesn't have the worst performing CPU in history, then good news, ignore the stable releases, only ever use the nightlies, and everything should be 60fps unless the game was originally set to 30, in which case you may need to patch it, meaning either getting a new iso, which isn't recommended or just having the emulator patch the game using cheat codes, like action replay or lua scripting or something, each emulator doesn't come with this as a built in option, but most of them can get the games running in 60fps even if it wasn't originally meant to run at 60, a good example of this is the Wii-U's version of breath of the wild which has a 60fps patch, which does a lot more than just getting the game to 60fps, but it fixes issues that the game has by running at that speed. so simple right? just get a decent recent cpu with many cores. the graphics card just needs to be higher performing than a 1050 ti. Want 4k60? target 1440p, use your graphics card control panel to upscale to 4k using FSR, DLSS. it'd be indistinguishable from native 4k playback, but your card would be using far less effort, and therefore less heat generation and less power consumption. most games have been designed to run at 240p, 480i/p, and then later 720/1080p, so you have to always remember to set the internal resolution to 3x native at least!

Man this reminded me of Motorstorm Apocalypse, I played a lot of that game one summer for some reason it feels a bit nostalgic!

as a kid i thought this game was about heat management racing because this was the first game i plated with throttle on the triggers, so i would win races managing the boost XD

I really need to watch a video on how to emulate the MotorStorm games. The Sony Pony's are blind as to how needed this sort is to come back. It's really the only thing that would make SONY's essential service worth turning my auto renewal back on again for PSN.

RPCS3 seems to really like Intel 12th Gen! At 1440p with a 5800x my PC sometimes won't hit 30FPS in this game, let alone 60.

Motorstorm is one of my fav Racing series! The Best for me is Arctic Edge from PSP which I bought for my PS Vita :). Also Motorstorm RC for PS Vita is good.

I have a R2700X and a 3070 and it was really decent in 1920p 60fps! Same, couldn't enjoy this game cause no PS3 at the time, had to go to a friend gouse to play good time good timesss

2:12 Exploding into the finish line was actually an achievement on PS3 lol 9:09 I'm not so sure, I think they pretty much going slow when they ahead of you, then they just speed up when they behind you. It's like a 2 side rubberband, you know what I mean?

I still have this game and I got gold in all events, god was it horrible to get them all but it was worth it, some of the physics are a little weird but this game is a blast to play, if your unsure on playing this do it

Tried this game, and Apocalypse, out on RPCS3 and largely had fun. The ATVs in Pacific Rift can go rot in Hell but the rest of the vehicles handle fine after you get used to the game's physics. Also, the rubberband AI can also go rot in Hell. It's definitely a case where it wasn't a good implementation of rubberbanding considering how much the AI outright cheats on the later stages of the Festival Mode (or when racing against Hard AI in Freeplay). I'm definitely the type that prefers it being possible to frontrun once you get good enough at the game. To me, rubberbanding doesn't exactly give a healthy challenge in Pacific Rift where the game's physics can be a bit finicky and quirky. Apocalypse feels like it did AI difficulty right but ramped up its game with the tracks where they're some of hardest in the series.

This game was such a joy when it released on PS3! Love it :)

Caldera ridge, Casacde Falls, and The Edge were three of my favorite tracks. I liked couple more but i cant remember the names

Still keeping a PS3, still playing games like MotorStorm (Pacific) and Assassin's Creed, because they are the best of the line. After this, gaming became 'downloadable', pay per view, online logins, hidden maps, bullshit. The games on the PS3 were fully realised and the culmination of a perfectly realised digital system.

I know I am 2 years late but the reason the motorstorm games don’t have speedometers is because the game uses clever camera trickery and level design to give a sense of speed. But the truth is that even the fastest cars in the game have a top speed of like 70-80 mph, and compared to conventional arcade racing games that isn’t very much. So the game doesn’t tell you because it doesn’t want you to think, wow, I’m only going 65? That’s it? Even in my racing car with boost? But without the speedo you FEEL like you’re going 200

I should really go track down the older Motorstorms considering how much I enjoyed the Apocalypse.

What's funny is that this was in fact the second game to use a song from the Hold Your Colour album, the same one that Evolution Studios used for the first game with Slam, which is a pretty good album that Pendulum did, but it just makes me wonder why didn't they use a song from their 2008 album, like 9,000 Miles? Okay, I guess it maybe because EA was using that album for the song Granite for Need For Speed Undercover, but Pure came out around the same time period as Pacific Rift and that game used Granite in it's soundtrack, so what was their excuse for not using at least one song from the In Silico album???
