your channel is comforting to watch, as a nerd i love hearing you ramble and nerd out about consoles, glad to hear im not the only one obsessed with these things hehe
Those 2 pieces “slide” on. Did you try that? They don’t just press down and clip in. You have to slide them in from the left or right (can’t remember which way). It’s still a PITA, but that’s how those secure on there. You can easily buy replacements too.
it's funny because it's the exact same story for me lol. around like 2013 I got this exact model for Christmas and I didn't even know that eject button was there, I always just slid it open. but the glossy plastic bits never once came off? they're still on there good.
I have the 500GB Super Slim from the Last of Us bundle that was released in 2012 and I can say that I've barely played it. I mean there's under 10 hours of play on it. I wonder if that could mean it will last longer than if I had been using it all those years?
So for the side covers you can get replacements new on eBay for $11.99 and free shipping. That is if the covers you had which I assume you already sent back are what is broken and not the spots on the actual PS3. I need to buy some for mine though I my PS3 Super Slim is one I bought brand new at Walmart in 2013. Mine just has one deep scratch on the back one from something I don't remember what was. The covers on mine as a whole are showing age with smaller scratches and stuff but I could live with those. It's that one deep scratch that looks ugly.
Lol I hat this model but if you slide the door open manually you are forcing it open that’s why these ps3s have so manny issues with the door just use the fucking button
I have a backwards compatible fatty but I’m considering finding one of these in good condition to do my heavy ps3 gaming on. Everytime I turn my fat boy on I’m worried it’ll be the last. Lol
Just get a 43xx model which has trusty and cool 28nm chips inside, softmod it and play all 3 generations of Playstation games for many years to come without dealing with the lid at all.
Those 28nm RSX models are great. They run very cool and draw little power. And you don't need a 43xx to have it. Most 42xx models manufactured after mid-2013 will have it.
@@nBasedAce That's 100% the truth. IM seems to find the cheapest most beat up models he can find. Mine's over a decade old, has no panels that pop off, disc drive and mechanism work seemlessly. More to the point no YLoD which is more than I can say for the other models.
My cousin has a Super Slim, and man I always hated it. It's just so damn cheap feeling. The fat and slims are miles better in comparison, but I do have the same bias as you lmao I always prefer the original fat models of consoles
