PS4 Pro No Button Sound No Power Southbridge CXD90042GG Replacement 

Maybe it's the southbridge. Maybe its the APU. Maybe it's something else. Hard to know for sure without properly testing it.

Connector ripped from the board of the PSU? Maybe it wasn't soldered back on to the PSU correctly. Maybe the PSU is just bad? A trained professional should verify the PSU is fully functional. Or if you can borrow a known good one from friend and test your console with that, that would be good too.

I’m fixing a hack job repair that did have a blown PSU when their wires seemed to have grounded themselves.

10-4. Well it could be your 46GG but if it was a HACK JOB repair and they even ripped a connector off of the motherboard, I would first assume damage on the motherboard. Inspect it very closely for damage. I've seen hack job repairs like this where they ripped a connector off and super glued it back to the board and make it look really good, like there was no issue. Then upon further inspection I realized a connector was actually ripped off of the board a needed rework. I would look closely for missing or damaged components and connecters before I went after the Southbridge.

Also, did you test the PSU while plugged in?

Hey, did you find somewhere answer for that? I am considering same thing since I saw that in slim model SCEI chip is connected to shield by thermalpad and aluminum little heatsink. SCEI chip gets really hot and in pro model it is hidden under shield where is little to no air circulation.

The first i would try is flashing the bios to see if that fixes the issue. But yes, it could also be Southbridge or similar type of fault, I think.

Thanks. Cant really tell until you start testing things but with APU issues, the console will usually still turn on. PSU going bad is very common so if it hasn't been swapped out already, it is a high probability. Good luck and thanks for watching!

This chip came preballed with solder. They don't always. Sometimes I have to add the solder (tin) myself. Yes, I clean all of the old solder from the board before applying the new chip. Thanks for watching! 😊

I was using continuity mode (beep mode) on the meter to see if any of those caps had a short tp ground. I hope that helps.

It's better to do a reball than a reflow for a BLOD issue. I can take a look at it if you want to send it in. I have all necessary tools and equipment to do a proper reball. Hopefully the prior repair attempt didn't cause irreversible damage to the APU or any other components but there's only one way to find out! 😎👍

Check measurements on the board with multi meter. Check for shorts. Also, where did you get your replacement southbridge? It needs to be from a trusted source. There are fakes out there. Did you possibly knock any component off of the board like I did in this video?

@@AlphaBravoTech I get them from China, but I get a lot of my components from them that work, bluetooth mods, switch usb-c ports, m9t36, etc. All caps seem to check out, fuses check out ok as well. No components knocked off.

Hi! Thanks for watching and for the comments! I use a lot of different cameras and microphones. For this video, I used my Sony AX-33 with an external RODE shotgun mic. I'd have to look up specifics. There's a couple of parts in there that I dubbed my voice into. I think I used my snowball microphone for that. For the meter, I'm not exactly sure which brand it was but if you search on Amazon for Kamtop Digital Thermometer Dual Channel Thermometer with Two K- type Thermocouples Temperature Meter. Hi Ruthless. I have a couple of other videos showing how to troubleshoot these power supplies. There's a lot that can be wrong with them though. If purchased brand new, yes. I'm not sure who has some in stock right now in the USA. I can check if you'd like. I know they're available on aliexpress but I've heard different things about the quality from aliexpress.

😂🤣 at your username. Honestly, I'm not sure. The fault is so common I would guess some kind of design flaw. That's totally a guess though. The PSU is also a very common issue. Thats definitely the first step you should take, checking the power supply. Hopefully that's your issue. Keep me updated and thank you for the Sub!

@@AlphaBravoTech hey buddy just keeping you updated. The system wasn't responding at all, no lights, beeps or anything. I just put that new power supply in it and now all it will do is 1 single beep accompanied by blue light, but dies back out instantly. I removed the hard drive, blew it out and reinstalled it to see if that did anything. Do you think the power supply I just bought could be faulty?

@@hidinfrombiden6251 how long does it stay on with the blue light and will it do the same thing immediately, over and over? If so, probably not an issue with the new power supply. But it could be. @@AlphaBravoTech with my old power supply it's not doing anything at all. With the new power supply installed it will beep once and the blue light comes on for a split second. It does this over & over. I contacted the person who sold me the power supply and they said it sounds like a mother board issue. Just doesn't make sense to me that it's the mother board when I can swap power supplies and get different results lol. It's like the new power supply works, but for some reason it's not producing enough power to initiate start up. The day before yesterday I actually purchased another used PS4 Pro for $300 that's only about a year old. I bought it with the intentions of being able to swap parts between systems until I narrowed down the problem, so I wouldn't be just randomly throwing money at new parts, but the one I just bought is newer than my old one and the ribbon cable that plugs into the power supply from the board is shaped different. Other than that it's identical. After I noticed that I was going to just swap hard drives so I might get lucky and not have to reinstall all my games & stuff and even the hard drive has slight differences how it plugs into the board. So for now I'm in the process of having another power supply shipped to rule that out. I'm not sure what the issue is but I read somewhere online that people were having the beep once & light flash issue's and it ended up being the screws for the X clamp came loose or needed some washers put on the screws. I'm gonna check that on mine but I don't expect to find that problem lol. But that's about all I can think of, if I find anything out I will let you know. Thanks again for responding.

Hi Mickey. Thanks and thanks for watching! Most commonly, in my experience, that issue is caused by a cracked solder ball under the APU. Reballing the APU would be something I would consider doing for this console. You'd have to take it to a super experienced repair shop though because not all of us repair techs can do reballs. 😎💪😁

Toqhy, thank you! Technique is better than exact temperatures, in my opinion. Knowing when solder is melted, knowing what temps it melts at, knowing how it acts when its melted. Knowing how everything works is key. Thank you for your comment.

@@AlphaBravoTech No problem man but I tell you if you need good rework station check aoyue 866 this is good for Playstations motherboards takes less time to desolder and cost around 190$ and for reballing I recommend if you want to buy machine I recommend with dhb1 or honton r490 you can find it on eBay for 1400 dollars
