Astro hard crashed my system today while I was downloading other titles. Couldn’t believe it. But, and a hard reset and few other steps later, everything is running fine. I also deleted Astro (since it’s an auto download) and re-downloaded it manually, and I did a safe boot to rebuild the database afterwards to be extra safe. Important note, during a hard crash your system and controller will be unresponsive - DO NOT UNPLUG THE SYSTEM POWER MANUALLY - instead, hold down the power button for about 30sec. The system will still give you the warning screen and check the drive, but at least you won’t be risking a power or voltage spike by pulling the plug ;)
Mine did the same . I was downloading fortnite and went to play Astro it froze loading the game nothing worked on the controller or the power button so I unplugged the power cord and waited a few min. Bad idea I know. Restarted and been working fine. Been playing games watching dvds ,Hulu ,remote play,downloading games it’s on almost all day. With no issues since.
Good to see people giving solutions or at least possible solutions. I have a PS5 digital version and had only 1 crash so far which was when my wife was playing cold war and I think it may have been the game that did it not sure tho. I dont use a external HDD and the only games I have been playing is cold war, dead island, and gta games.
It might be cold war and the external because it happened to me also, I’m hearing that both makes the ps5 crash and it makes the system restart itself 🤦♂️
I had a lot of freezing with certain PS4 games, specifically FFX and Caligula overdose where it would freeze at the pop up save screen since the PS5 uses its own system save screen rather than the games own one like when you play on PS4. I rebuilt the database, removed the external hard drive and cleared up a lot of space by deleting games I no longer play and it seemed to resolve the issue
I just secured a PS5 from Best Buy today. It's a good thing to know what to do to prevent these issues from happening when I get my PS5 later this week. Thank you!
@Cross country mechanical Hahaha Crazyyyy and play what? Backcompat bullshit? I have zero issues and so have million other people the problem is this day and age everybody and his granny has a cellphone with a camera! Everybody can upload their problems on social media. So every little thing gets bigger than it should be. And it is not like series X isn't having any issues decpite it being bought by fewer people! The ps5 is outselling the series X 3-1 if not more.

There is something to the don’t play while downloading updates or games... that worked fine on the PS4 Pro so I imagine it can and will be fixed shortly

Demon’s Souls from time to time crashes when I return to The Nexus. And DMC5 crashed twice at random but other than that I haven’t had many issues. Certainly not as bad as others. Not putting the system in rest mode doesn’t seem to help because Demon’s Souls still crashed at The Nexus after starting from shutdown but it’s still rare.
Maaz Mathers I’m not too worried about it. I’m sure that Sony will fix it in a software update soon so I’ll put up with it, since it doesn’t happen often enough to warrant doing that yet.
Hey Xagrebil. Good idea. It sounds like your issues so far aren’t as bad as many others. I wouldn’t do anything if I were you, just wait for the patch!
Run4FunGaming Thanks for responding! You’re right, I don’t think it’s worth resetting the PS5 yet because it’s rare enough that it’s not a problem when it happens especially since Demon’s Souls is always saving, so I’ll just deal with the occasional crash until it gets patched.
Thank me later Yeah it’s a little lame but it’s a bit more stable after the patch that came out the other day. Demon’s Souls has only crashed once in the 10 or so hours I’ve played since the update, I also think the crashes in Demon’s Souls are the game and not the system because it crashes the same way every time. Return to The Nexus and about five seconds in it crashes, so I’m hoping a patch will be released soon.
GUYS THIS IS 3 MONTHS AGO. - Most of the common issues has been fixed, by system update. It is more stable and will only get better. - Game crashes, is usually on the game developer and not sony and your console. Cold war went from crashing every 30 min to never or very rarely in Zombies. - I have only had 1 crash in AC Valhalla (15 hours of gameplay). Cold war 1 crash (10-15 hours). 0 system crash or anything weird. No freezes.
@@MrUchiha then this video isn't really for you then, is it? If you say yours have no problems, you are the last person to say anything got fixed. All these problems still exist, and according to the number of reports to Sony, higher than ever. It doesn't really matter what your personal experience is if there's nothing wrong with your PS5 lol
This was months ago and most of the common issues are fixed, I received my PS5 on Feb 26th and: - REST MODE: I have no issues using rest mode at all rather if using PS5 or PS4 games (Disc and Digital), however, I power off whenever it's thundering outside and unplug it - GAME CRASHES: Haven't had that issue at all, yet (no matter if I'm playing on system storage or external HDD or external SSD Portable) on my PS5 - ERROR CODE CE-108255: I gotten this once and that was loading Spider-Man Miles Morales before it was updated and same with C.O.D, these were fixed thankfully after update then full Restart. - EXTERNAL HDD: All 122 of my PS4 games on it had no issues as I start and setup. Do note I'd rather use external SSD Portable since HDD is a bit slower than external SSD but not too noticeable unless using BIG PS4 games digitally like The Last of Us Part II (No Patch for PS5 yet) and GTA V (PSN Digital) All of these I'm on latest update as of (March 2, 2021 2:45PM CST). These are my experience of none of issues though. Hope the most anticipated update rumored for SONY PS5 VBR and internal SSD doesn't cause any issues and they do full teste and list best SSDs. Even is months old, glad for video for some few tips though for when starting off

I guess I've been lucky cause I've been putting my PS5 in rest mode with no issues. Using an external HDD for my PS4 games as well. There simply isn't enough space to play PS4 games otherwise.
well, i infer i have to wait until most, if not, all the ps5 bugs have been resolved before i purchase the console... summer 2021 might just be safe by then... thanx for this informative video...
Thanks for the video! I've had a couple crashes during Spider-Man Miles Morales, so I'm going to try these out and hopefully it works! It sounds like it will since you had a similar issue to mine. I use rest mode all the time, so hopefully rebuilding the database and not using rest mode for the time being will solve my problem!
Hopefully it helps! Rest mode seems to be the biggest culprit, so maybe give that a shot before rebuilding database, as it could likely fix the issue on its own

I got a ps5 recently and I chose the option to transfer data over from ps4 to my ps5 but during the process I turnedoff my ps4 because it was taking too long and when I turned it back on it stopped transferring data but on my ps5 it showed that it was still transfering so I went ahead and clicked Cancel and Delete while it was transfering data. Just to make sure no unwanted date was transferred over to my ps5 i factory reset it. After the ps5 opened I accidentally signed in with the wrong account so I had to factory reset again 😂 I was wondering is it harmful to be reseting the ps5 like this. Could it have caused any issues, perhaps making the ps5 work slower? I just want to know if its not healthy or fine thanks. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Brand new ps5 and I'm having crashing issues when launching games. Rebuilt database and it's done it once since. I dont want it to keep shutting off, and keep getting error messages about not shutting down properly. Should I just do a complete system reset? If that doesnt work I guess I'd have to contact sony?
I got my ps5, seven days after realise and I've never had any crashing or freezing, but I've had black screen fir a second or two in first 3 weeks, apart from this best thing I've purchased in years.....
One of my ps4 game is stored in external hard drive and play this game on my ps5. But, after a while the game crashes alot. I’ve tried rebuild data base, reinstalling the game into my drive still the problem persists and that too happening with only this game of ps4. Pls help!
I did the same thing as you it froze I was downloading multiple games .. I had to u plug it but I haven’t had a crash since .. I have no coil or sound coming from the ps5 so I really don’t want to return it ..

I just got mine and can’t even go through the first steps when getting a new console like choosing language, and hdr brightness, etc cause it keeps freezing. I can’t even change settings cause it freezes right away only happens when I’m in Ps5 menu.
Hey guys, I recently got a ps5 digital version about a month ago . I had my Astro a10 from my PS4 so I used to for my ps5 controller. The audio was cutting out and my controller was lagging or bugging out when I play call of duty . Has anyone run into this issue? I also plugged in my PS4 controller with the Astro a10 and still got the same issue. Please help?
PS5 update! I contacted Sony. A couple days later I had a shipping box to send it back to them for repair. 5 days later I received a brand new PS5 and it works perfectly and have had no problems with it whatsoever! 👍🏻
Dude .. I basicly played 24/7 on my ps5 (Cold War 1080/120Hz) and nothing happened until two days ago .. my game randomly crashes, progress ani't get saved and reinstalling the game, rebuilding the database or resetting the whole console did not helped at all.. it seems like when your PS5 games start randomly crashing your PS5 is probably bricked .. Maybe and this is a huge MAYBE.. Sony bring out a patch and Activision specifically for Cold War get a patch too. I'm so pissed right now as I sad in the beginning I played so much over the holiday season and now we are in 2021.. I used my ps5 for about less then 50 days and it is kinda bricked... and get it replaced is probably almost impossible too cause Covid slowing down everything because people can't just hold back for a few months -.-
I get my ps5 on 21 november now im sending it to sony for repair. Dont install any game any more. I try all type of reset but nothing to do its lost 🙄🙄

i had it too while switching from astro to eso most likely software had a green screen so far when i started it so far and it goes back to normal after i restart hope thats a software tho
Mine was fine went automatically into rest mode now gta v is freezing and crashing I reset the console still doing the same so I let downloading it again but not on my external think this will be alright
yeah mine crashed last night while I was about to play Fifa 22 then all of a sudden my ps5 not working !!! its loading but crashing so I had to restart the system still no help kit had my ps5 for very long time first time this has happened need help asap please !!!
You can still give it a try. If it doesn’t work and the rest of the list doesn’t help either and you have issues, you can reach out to Sony or wait for more patches on it!
For me Astro freezes and my ps5 crashes... Cold War as well and my ps5 is always crashing... I bought Cold War digitally maybe the ps5 has difficulty downloading the games right

Sometimes my screen just freeze and i can’t even turn off my console safely... already had to unplug it 3 times IN MY FIRST DAY OF USAGE!!!! Is there a way to turn it of manually when the screen frizzes?????
Mine happens when I bluescreen/ game crashes. Is says about the error and gets to 90% and then does nothing. All my mates PS5s are fine, and recover. Not mine. I have to unplug it
I think most of the rest mode crashes are the games doing it because whenever I put my ps4 in rest mode while playing cold war and turn it back on my ps4 hard crashes and I have to unplug it

Both of my PS5 digital editions are not having any issues with crashing especially involving rest mode and I use all of the features like booting up a game with my phone while away from home
1 external ssd 1.700 tb of games on a samsung t5 2 tb = always error = fully empty ith = 0 games Then format - then reinstal games = ok for me now. Stil under 1 tb . Maby problem = when you go above 1 tb . NOT download stuf in standby = error Then you need to fully reinstal the game Learn hard way whith cyberpunk jesterday whith patch 1.06 Restmode no downloading = not a problem But if a download start you have big % you getting problems . Do not use hdmi sony give whith ps5 I buy belkin 4k-8k ultra high speed No more problems whith auto sinc ( somtimes you getting black screen when starting ps5 whith orginal hdmi ) Playing + downloading = no problems to miself . Lots of games needed to be patcht up to have beter performance = maneater After 2 patch = running match better .
I’m returning mine noticeably hot my daughter is 7 walked past it and said daddy why is the ps5 so hot. Plus it’s crashing daily and resetting like I just unplugged it. Not even taking a chance highly disappointed
I have one and I haven't encountered any problems so far. For me this is the best console ever made. Not even due to the graphics or the load times, but the controller itself. It's something you really won't understand until you feel it.

@@AyubKhan-rk1oo The controller is nice although after using it only once it was stained with sweat and the grooves where filled with grime... my weren’t even dirty, it was just gamer hand sweat which we all produce naturally!
Yes, you can download PS4 games. As long as you aren’t playing them from a HDD it should work. Games may still crash like ps5 games but should have less issues
