PSA not making graders' notes public is just another indication that they have ZERO integrity about the grades applied to slabs. Not allowing the notes to be public keeps consumers from comparing notes on graded cards. Until there can be an industry standard for grading, companies will continue to pull this crap. As far as cleaning rules and restrictions, fuck them 😂. They need to figure out that cleaning and altering are different. Even with altering, they miss. Bluffing about detecting cleaning just opens them up to look ridiculous as they continue to slab cleaned cards and people laugh to themselves.

Never had one card returned and I clean every single one. Unless you leave wax residue on the card, there is no way for them to tell. Zero. As far as Grading Notes - anyone who has sent in the same card numerous times and received 2 or 3 different grades knows that this is all bullshit. I generally designate my cards as either 'Could get a 10' or not, and if they are in the former that bad boy is getting sent to PSA until they give me a 10. Almost never fails, even when the sequence is something stupid like 8, 9, 8, 10. Now what might change my behavior is if they actually implement these grader notes and hold their graders to the past 'findings' on serial #d cards. If a grader incorrectly gives a card an 8, but they have that now tracked against the serial # and PSA makes a blanket decision not to revisit any of these? I won't re-send serial #'d stuff to PSA and would look to SGC to try and get the 'true' grade.

First thing first, if anyone thinks that that statement from PSA is going to do anything for flippers and scammers to stop cleaning cards yeah good luck to you buddy. Secondly, I think if people really want graders notes, PSA should put it where if the card is high in value in the current market then said card should be able to receive notes to see and share. So anything that does get submitted at the regular level and up like express, super express or PREMIUM 1-6 yeah those should get graders notes; anything that is submitted at bulk sub prices or the value at the current market price of the card is less than $1000. You do not get graders notes.

Well done NEO. The comparison between ADT and N7 is spot on. PSA is CYA. Understand initially on PSA keeping the grading notes private to just the submitter, but then the submitter should have the option to share the notes. After all, they own the card. Until next time...

Neo, You are spot on again! CGC continues to miss some many opportunities to put pressure on PSA and possible take some market share from them. The sports card side of their business is so poorly run!!!! I so want a different option, but PSA is still the only real option. FYI - I have three different orders in at PSA (all sent in at different times) and all three are now stuck in assembly. They really have no concept of the 1st in 1st out process. I sent them in a different intervals to see how they would process them through, but the 2nd order got checked in first and now the 3 order is ahead of the 1st two orders. I just don’t get it.

Great video! My thought is they are afraid of losing the people who normally would take a chance on a PSA 10 and as a backstop they believe the card will at least pull a PSA 9 making sure to cover the grading costs and also still make some profit if selling. Having the notes may influence a submitter into not going for the 10 because they see the notes and they see issues on them. If they have one or two defects possibly they see on their card, they many balk at sending the card in possibly of not even getting a 9 Potential large revenue loss for PSA. Even if it causes 10-15% of folks not sending cards in, 100,00 plus cards a month less of grading fees coming in. Hope this was clear. As always, from a fellow Northern Ohioan, GREAT Stuff!

PSA doesn't want Grader Notes public because they have so many incompetent graders. PSA doesn't want someone who gets a 6 on a freshly pulled card (that should be a 10) to publish the Grader Notes that says there are flaws that don't actually exist on the card. BGS puts their "graders notes" on the label. PSA says the customer "have no rights... directly or indirectly publish, publicly display, recreate"... so you can't take a screenshot of the notes and put them in an ebay listing, or type them in the description (is that "indirectly publish"?). But if someone messages you, can you dm them the screen shot? I wouldn't say a text message to an individual is "public".

The fact that you mentioned "freshly pulled" as if it has anything to do with a grade being assigned ruined your point. Anyone who says stuff like that is a goofball. When you pull a card from a pack room sealed set has ZERO to do w the grade it can get.

NEO don’t know if PSA tracks numbered cards they grade. For example if I crack a PSA9 numbered card will they catch that and grade it PSA9 again automatically?

They do not want the consumer to know what to look for on their raw cards bc once we find out what downgrades a card we would STOP submitting so many and when we stop Submitting so many PSA income stream will drop. Whats the downside for PSA if a submitteemr sends in a cracked card for resubmitting? Don't they want more cards submitted? I believe this does affect pop counts though since they wont know if a card was cracked

Another thing is that people in the hobby most of us I think realize that the big grading companies do not necessarily grade quality of physical condition of a card as much as they do how much of an impact it will have on the market if it gets a high-grade I mean if you get you know a Jackie Robinson rookie card you’re not gonna get a 10 you’re gonna get a 1.5 or authentic and you can have a car the same exact condition and it can be modern or WhateverScottie Pippen for example it can actually be worse and it will get an eight or 10 or nine it’s all about population control which ultimately controls the market which ultimately keeps the chase going and keeps PSA submissions coming in my opinion

I had 5 high valued cards with no flaws and good centering and they came back a PSA 9!!! In the same submission I sent a card that was clearly not a psa 10 due to some surface issues and it came back a psa 10!!! WTF!!!! Also my TB12 bowman chrome rc was evaluated a 10 came back a 9. Literally cost me thousands of dollars!!!!

They’re probably doing that because it will cut into the PSA 10 as top dog because when people buy Beckett slabs with upgrades, they want the highest subgrade they can get in it gets more of a premium. I don’t think Psa wants to degrade any 10 that they have even though we all know that there are some tens that don’t look so good but they got that 10.

So I think there is a much stronger financial element to this as well. To publish graders notes it will take longer to grade. Thus it’s more expensive to grade each card. Most likely this will lead to a significant price hike in grading (which may not be too bad there are too many cards getting graded anyways).

I believe this for PSA was always about calming people down who didn't get the grades they wanted, I don't think this is the reason most flippers wanted notes I believe most flippers are just looking for arbitrage and / or cleaning opportunities I can see why a PSA wouldn't be incentivized to provide that

I 100% agree the reason for the non public reason for notes is the risk of resubmitting from cleaners. I wonder how the grader notes will work with bulk submissions. Will the bulk submitter be able to share the notes?

Why come up with a system of consumer notes and not make them public? PSA is a big company and can do whatever it wants with its money. But to invest in a notes system geared inherently toward consumer transparency is a terribly bad business decision and will generate negative ROI.

The easiest way for you to test this theory is to get a card any card from 1985 or before and then get a modern card put them side-by-side and get a black light flashlight and shine it on them. You will see without adding anything, the stock is different in the modern card will glow as opposed to cardboard stock will not, want to take this step further to or whatever and apply different solutions or however/whatever people use wax card cleaner and see if it changes under the black light I think the results will surprise you. This is a very good way to determine whether or not vintage card is a reprint, fake or legit anyway my two cents

What if you bought a card thru eBay, card shop , whatnot , card show , etc etc and the card you bought looked super nice. So you send that card into psa and it comes back as altered or cleaned. That’s my fear 😨 is that I buy a cleaned juiced up card unknowingly!!!! Scary times we live in as collectors man!!! We are screwed unless it comes back psa 10 then it’s all good 😊

Perfect comparison with ADT signs. I cannot figure out non disclosure of notes either. Why would sharing them be any issue? What are they trying to stop with that? Don’t get that one. I think graders notes are a bad idea for them anyway. You think someone was mad when you give their vintage 8 a grade of 5 and they wonder why. How mad would you be if the graders notes call out “wear on lbottom left corner” as the issue. Refer to their grading standards and now I will be livid that they are not grading by their own rules with my barely perceptible with my eye slightly imperfect corner.

PSA is a joke. I sent them what looked to be a near flawless Select 23-24 Rookie Gold Card and came back a PSA 6. I don't see any surface issues and the centering, edges and corners speak for themselves. Without graders notes, I'll scream corruption til the day I die. It's a crap shoot and raw to grade now is officially not worth it. You gotta get lucky to hit a box that gives you a good card, you gotta get lucky for that card to be in good condition and then get lucky again PSA affirms that card is in good condition. F them.

If PSA makes the notes public this would be a give away on the low end 10 versus a high end 10. This would reveal that a lot of there gem 10’s are actually 9.5’s.. forcing them to know longer being able to hide those facts. Also could force them to have to use a 9.5. Could also cause a shift in sale prices. Maybe closing the gap between SGC and BGS.

PSA going to catch card cleaning and altering. Dick Towle is laughing in his grave! He cleaned, took out stains, creases wrinkles and otherwise make cards look so much brighter for 10's of thousands of vintage cards - if not more. PSA couldn't stop Moser. They couldn't identify Towle. Nothing is going to change.

After grading 100s of cards with PSA, I feel like they want to keep the grader notes private because grading is subjective and I have resubmited many cards that graded low the first time that came back much higher the second time. They also want people resubmitting the same card numerous times because repeat business is the most profitable.

Until 5 years ago PSA graded more coins than cards, and a coin graded as cleaned loses most of its value - very big deal. Why would you think they cannot detect cleaning? They have been detecting cleaning for decades in PCGS.

You would think they would be able to put like a black light on the card or something to be able to tell if there was like a wax or something put on it because if somebody puts it on it, you’re not gonna wipe it all the way off it’s gonna show residue and another thing I don’t think they want the graders notes to get out like I said because Beckett upgrades people pay more for higher upgrades tag kind of has that problem too because they used to have the big dig report and when people were buying tag slabs, they would be going for like a 980 more than they would a 955 that’s why they just want to put single-digit numerical numbers instead of the three digit

why is no one talking about how PSA said they were continuing the may sports bulk special thru June but yet when I tried completing my order 2 nights ago on the 19th of June the $15.99 no longer exist and they want $18.99 a card? I'm so over this company there about a year or 2 away from no one sending them any cards I never seen such a successful company be so cheap and try to jew all there customers I'm over it. I also seen they set my PSA collectors club membership up for auto renewal when it expires and I never agreed to that, and that hasn't been the way the membership has worked the last 3 years.

psa is in the process of taking a big hit to their "brand". they have been dogchit for a while now. and there has always been major scandals they have been caught up in throughout the years. you can find these scandals here on youtube. not only the scandal shit but now the grading is so erratic and just downright bullshit that I would now consider the overall grading from psa to be a scandal in and of itself. Not just the individual scandals involving certain graders and such over the years. But now I am talking about as a whole in general the grading is so erratic and off that it is criminal in my books.

Agree with banning cleaning. Cleaning should have never gotten to the point that it is, it's complete horseshit. Hard disagree with graders notes. They should be public on every card that is submitted and they should have an easy way to get to the graders notes for everyone ala TAG. Hopefully they reverse that stance and work on implementing a way to reduce cracking and resubmitting as well.
