Psilocybin containing mushrooms saved my life. The drastically reduced my benzodiazepine withdrawal allowing me to quite illicit pill addiction after three years of heavy daily use before it would had became medically dangerous to quit. It has also helped me survive depression.

It interesting how the further we go, the more the lines between ancient spiritual traditions and scientism blur. Scientism will have arrived at the same point as the spiritual traditions after it's run its full course, the difference is the path taken. Whereby the spiritual traditions took a "from inside, out" approach, Scientism is doing the opposite, working from the outside, in.

This conversation makes me think about the prophetic dreams I had back at a low point in my life. There was something about those dreams that felt important and I told my family about them right after they happened just took a few months to pass from each dream to have both of the dreams to be realized. They were major life events like being at a funeral and having my nephew who didnt even exist yet come up to my family to introduce himself, then the second dream was even more clear about my grandma getting sick and dying because I told my family about it before hand they were witnesses to it. Now some ppl in my family share there dreams with me wanting me to tell them what it means or asking about my dreams its been about a year and I haven't had a dream with that strong feeling of importance since. But that experience let me know there's a lot more going on behind the scenes, and life is nowhere near pointless or coincidental like some seem to think.

Ok. Though one of the issues here is that Grandma's unfortunately often get sick and die. And children even more often do get born. Death and birth are also recurring themes in most people's lives. The timing in your perception makes them special. But how does one really know what the connection between the dream and the realization truly is.

I'm 61 and acid and shrooms never really did anything for me other than cause a few distortions of whatever I was seeing/hearing/etc. Using DMT - closed-eye trips - took me to "places" I'd never imagined and I met entities I'd never imagine. What's odd is I felt completey "sober" and the experiences seemed as real if not more so than the experience of typing this now. It was Hoffman's work and Paul Davies work, along with my experiences doing a DMT, that turned my thinking 180 degrees away from physicalism.

I remember watching this full interview sometime last year, and I couldn't fully get behind the idea. I agreed that evolution is not really showing us the full picture, but I was (and still am) mainly a physicalist However, about a month ago I had the most intense psychedelic experience of my life, and at the height of ego death this has all been revealed to me. I was floating through space as pure consciousness. And it was not my consciousness, it was universal, part of everything. In that moment I felt like I knew everything there is to know about the fabric of reality. I even knew how math and physics worked, and how they both fit into an unified framework. It all made sense. I reached the conclusion that the basis of all things is knowledge/consciousness. Subatomic particles are mathematical entities, and therefore units of information. People are just large scale concentrations (or portals) of knowledge. And the reason why we're drawn towards certain people is because they possess or are searching for the same knowledge. And there are different ways to get to this knowledge, psychedelics, science and transcendental meditation being some of them. And then I realised how cool and unprecedented it is to be human, and to have a brain capable of accessing this thing However, I knew that at the moment I was in 'virtual reality', or a different dimension. And I knew that once I've returned to the body, this knowledge will lose most of its meaning. Because our dimension (Hoffman's operating system) doesn't function like the one I was in. It's like the fabric of reality got "frayed" while I was in that state, and each string could be seen clearly. But normally all the strings are together and overlapping, so it's hard to distinguish them (could this have something to do with string theory??). In the end I woke up from the trip at will, because there was nothing else left to know. I asked all the questions and got all the answers. I am still naturally skeptical though, because I've been familiar with these ideas for a while, and I was in the middle of reading David Deutsch's "Fabric of Reality", which discusses notions of virtual reality, consciousness and epistemology. However, I'm glad this had led me to put 'david hoffman psychedelics' in the RU-vid search bar, and revisit this interview. My intuition tells me that the scientists who are closest to solving the mystery of reality are likely to have tried psychedelics at some point in their lives

I have strong reasons to believe that our brain can be pushed into overdrive, to focus on things with much more efficiency than usual. I remember having moments of perfect clarity while sleeping, and the memory of it, obviously, persisted. There is nothing, however, that indicates to me that I was gathering knowledge that was outside of what was possible to infer from what I already knew (but I wasn't able to do it in "normal" brain state).

This. This conversation between Lex and Hoffman is what I was looking for. Both of them are trying to get to a conclusion but our mere human terminologies are so primal, that in itself makes it difficult for someone to understand the causality and reality. Something we experience with psylocibin or dmt. Hoffman did a really good job at making it so consumable and Lex's genuine way of interpretation, makes it easier for us to fathom. Need more these.

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."

The "huge" leap or crux of the whole hard problem debate is how you go from just stuff to subjectivity. Whatever the universe is, we are always experiencing it in this first-person perspective which stumps a biological explanation. Antonio Damásio's "Feeling and Knowing" is a good intro to understanding the biological underpinnings, but he is the first to admit its incompleteness and is also open to Roger Penrose and Stuart Hamerhoff's considerstions of the role of quantum physics (we just don't have biology-chemistry-classical physics-quantum physics bridge or even an inkling how those all come together in, life, sentience and consciousness. Damásio sees the basis for consciousness at the cell level in homeostasis and thinks that feeling (not Descartes's cogito) is fundamental.

What was explained to me by The Mushrooms during a 30g dose that lasted about 13hrs, is that whatever mechanisms give us imagination can be used- in a lot of different ways including psychedelics- to allow us to perceive and communicate with beings from other dimensions. It's hard for a 7th dimensional being to manifest here, it makes them cosmically nauseous and is basically a really bad trip for them. It's better if they stay where they are and manifest through our imagination to communicate. We think our imagination isn't "real", and dismiss it, but we couldn't be more wrong, I was told. The power of all our imaginations is creating reality in all dimensions somehow, and it's really important work for some reason, and every person no matter how vile, returns to the source a sort of hero for at least trying. I was also told it's not a simulation (simulacrum), as there is nowhere else quite like this place, but it is a game of some sort that needs to be played. They picked 3D space for the game because, bound under the flow of time, its the realm of consequence. Things really matter here. Any intelligent life from 4D space or above has little sense of the consequence for its actions because time is relative and controllable. If they make a mistake they can just sort of relive it instantly and get it right, so its really hard to learn certain universally important lessons anywhere else. I was also told humans aren't the only players here in 3D space, and some of the other players have nearly unrecognizable forms, and the game itself is so complex that it's largely beyond the comprehension of most the players (myself included). I was clearly told though that its not a game of money or power, and your gonna wake up in the afterlife a loser if that's all you pursue. It's actually a game about love and understanding and growth and cooperation, and even though the game is still playing out, the winner was decided a split second after it started. Good won. But the game has to finish, and Evil is so mad about losing that it is being a bad sport and its gonna do anything it can to ruin the game before the finish. Because it never learned right about consequences for actions, and its scared of whats coming. But...there is an open secret that Evil just can't understand. Good forgives. In the end, Good won't exact any price at all, and will forgive Evil completely for all the awful it caused. And Evil will learn about forgiveness that way, and will forgive Good. And we- the good, the bad and the ugly- are all going to walk back into heaven together. Heaven is the reward for suffering the game. I might have just been trippin really hard though. Heh. Love ya, Lex.

@@BarackObamaJedi Thank you for your kind words, they actually mean a lot to me. I don't want to mislead at all. I'm personally on the fence about if its "real" or not, or if that even matters in the end. I'm still wrapping my head around it all. For the sake of complete honesty, what I actually did was a series of increasing doses, about 20 overall spread about a week apart, until I did a couple 30g sessions, which was where I ended the experiment heh. What I wrote is just quick summary of the tip of the iceberg of what I experienced. I feel very compelled to share it somehow, but I'm struggling to find the right method. But knowing that someone took even just a little heart from it is encouraging. Allow me to share something else that has really helped me. In the realms of eternity, I met The Angel of Death. Against the advice of my flaming mushroom spirit guide, I invited Death to share the experience of eating fruit with me...kinda through me actually, if that makes any sense. He (it?) is an odd, quirky, funny but kinda lonely character. He enjoyed the experience so much, and was so grateful that I could see past his frightening countenance and be kind to him, that he let me stand beside him and see death from his angle. And its a big funny joke. I sadly cant recall what was so funny about it anymore- like whats the punch line again? But I do recall that it was a big, ultimately harmless joke thats being played on us all for a good reason. I howled with laughter, tears pouring out of my eyes for hours, just like "Really?" That's all it is?! WTH LOL!". Im still scared of the pain and suffering involved in dying, but I honestly now look forward to the day I meet Death again, and he can remind me what the punch line is and we can laugh about it some more. That's how he helps us let go of this life and move on. He's actually a really decent, noble character with an important job he takes seriously. I'd almost say I made friend, but it feels extremely pretentious of me. But, ya, don't be afraid of Death. The skull is grinning for a good reason. Anyway, thanks again. God bless.

Her gravitational leash became a string, her tugging on my waters, me laying in an open field. The leaves were squirrels and they were leaves, and then they were carried away by winds. And then all the surrounding grass, billions of blades swaying in moonlight, made contact me with, the weird teenager soaking up the dew at two o'clock in the morning. In my waking world, I'd walked across the field thousands of times ...

Psychedelics are more than likely the reason that humans developed religion. In my experience, even though I was aware that I had a DMT experience, I still felt as if I had spoken to God or a higher power. It’s easy to see why ancient humans would perceive such an experience as “God speaking.” LSD and psilocybin allow more of our subconscious mind to communicate with our consciousness and can have enlightening experiences in their own right. But with DMT, it’s as if we are witnessing the birth of our consciousness (or soul, spirit, etc) along with the creation, existence and afterlife of the entire universe simultaneously. Even that description is underwhelming compared to the experience of a DMT breakthrough itself. IMO, If such an experience is bewildering to the deepest parts of our subconscious, it has to have a connection or frequency to something far more powerful than what exists in this 3D world of ours… Happy traveling fellow psychonauts!

I'd slightly disagree on needing DMT. I've pondered existentialism a lot and I tried remaining unbiased as best I could in areas. But I would somehow always get close to something that was of religious nature. I found that I'd get near Buddhism beliefs or Christianity when I made certain conclusions. Just seems that when you deeply contemplate these things and always try moving forward or if you take a psychedelic, we all arrive at somewhat similar conclusions.
@derekpotts2549
@derekpotts2549 2 года назад
@@yutecforz4416 I agree that most roads lead to a similar conclusion when pondering existential questions or the connection we feel on psychedelics. My point was in my experience, nothing had ever overpowered my understanding of consciousness, or the existence of a force far beyond it, until my first DMT breakthrough. I had plenty of enlightened moments under the others but never anything that completely upended my understanding of consciousness and existence. Everyone is different though

Great and inspiring conversation! However, you don't need psychedelics to open inter-dimensional portals during conscious states. Deep meditation (alone or in groups) and hypnosis can do it too, once you slow down your brain activity, reaching theta waves. I did meditation experiments of the kind with the Institute of Noetic Sciences and EEG measurements seem to show significantly different activity when people connect to a portal (I call it stargate because it also offers a channel for telepathic communication with cosmic intelligences), feeling energies, vibrations and, in a few cases, seeing extra-dimensional beings. People can also experience physical and/or emotional healings during these sessions. This kind of practices date back millennia (to ancient Egypt, Atlantis, Lemuria) and have been used in closed circles (also involving scientists in modern times) ever since. People tend to be lazy and psychedelics offer just a shortcut to achieve similar experiences and results. During this kind of meditation experiments, somehow going beyond the holographic reality as we perceive it with our senses (which are essentially frequency filters), time can also "bend" in ways which are verifiable on multiple devices. I sometimes did catch such time anomalies on tape, on my laptop or phone or involving other devices. This is all still consistent with quantum physics and the effect of the observer on the reality we perceive. And electronic devices can be considered as observers themselves.

I think he was very convincing while saying time and space may not be fundamental in reality but may be fundamental to our interface with reality. I started to become less convinced when he tried to explain that consciousness may be fundamental in creating time and space. I feel its a leap to say that because you've found that time and space may not be fundamental it must be consciousness that is. I don't understand what's to make us think time and space or consciousness is fundamental. I'm doing my best to follow along.

Any ‘paper’ I could conceptualise about this topic dissolves as soon as it’s made. Because the fundamental paradox I experience is that any attempt by consciousness to ‘grasp and understand’ its own rules is, naturally, occurring within consciousness. Writing any paper on this topic is necessarily to overlook the entire area of study. Intellectually entertaining but of no relevance to consciousness itself. Eventually you’ll be brought to your knees and have no choice but to surrender. Hope you’re having a good day 😂❤️

Here’s a start. (1) Consciousness is just feelings - hunger, fear, pain, hot/cold, … There is nothing to understand about that - feelings direct you to do something. Either do or not do as Yoda says. (2) “Awareness” can be considered as different from consciousness. If you are aware of something, you generally have some idea in your mind, e.g. being hot / cold. In that case you are comparing your present awareness with past memories, which is different than the basic feeling itself. That’s all there is to it.

Infact the bhagavatam purana talks about how various planes experience time in a different way ie the scale of time that we feel on earth is completely different, or how consciousness actually interfaces with our world from higher planes

I really hope this reaches you, Mr. Fridman, as I'd like your opinion on a theory of mine that came from a psychedelic trip from when I was younger If matter and antimatter were made in the same instance, could it not be possible that antimatter simply "flows" in reverse to matter? Meaning it could have created a "backwards" universe that could, in time, collide with this one, either destroying it, or starting the system over I truly believe the universe is just one system that goes on to infinity, no start, no end From an outside observer, it could be reasoned that it simply doesn't exist, like virtual particles but on a much bigger scale

Soon enough we will find out that we don’t need to worry about anything other than what interests us, the ones we love, and the ones who love us. Psychedelics are absolutely amazing and even if you are terrible at or don’t know anything about mathematics and or engineering, etc. you will at least see it in action and gain an appreciation for it. As we have arrived to quantum computing, things are going to get really interesting. As far as history plays out, I have a feeling that the hippies were right about a lot of things. Mostly due to the psychedelics. Or that the NWO and governments around the world have still been allowing psychedelics to flow so they can keep the pay ops going.

Well as hermeticism stated in the principle of correspondence. As above, so below; as below, so above. Meaning natural law operates the same from a quantum level to a macro level, suggesting that the theory of the big bang is incorrect. Just look at how our universes are structured, to our veins in our bodies are structured similarly. That is just one level of perspective, there are many other examples, but they all have a fractal pattern. No matter how microscopic we look, to have far we zoom out, natural law follows a pattern, suggesting another theory. We are within something bigger, a living creature perhaps? Most likely.

I haven't heard the whole interview so perhaps this has been answered but I need the definition of what Donald Hoffman considers a portal. Kids are portals? Ok then a portal to where before they are born? Seems like that's less of a portal and more of a consciousness generator. Portals imply that something already exists prior to the doorway being open between there and here.

I have experienced almost every psychedelic that most people have heard of and many more but my perspective is very different than most peoples. I believe that the psychedelic experience is a much lower form of consciousness than the one we experience day to day. I think humans have a severe novelty bias that makes us believe that new and unusual things are more profound than the familiar. I believe that psychedelics work by actually closing off aspects of consciousness and limiting our experience which allows us to focus and close in on other aspects.

Theoretical physicists have recently discovered that the vacuum isn't empty, but creates particles/antiparticles which then annihilate one another. They've also discovered the Higgs field. This is just the beginning. So I don't see it as a silly idea the possibility that something which permeates the entire universe may have an influence upon the development of life in those parts where it can develop, like here on Earth.
