Braindead actually I do like reading comments like hearing what people have to say as bad ass as psycho mantis theme is it's not nearly as bad ass as gray foxes theme also one more thing sorry about the guy saying he's masturbating at the moment that's kind of rude and I do I hate when people say stuff like that comment if you like what I said
Von Kaiser Funny you mention that. As an indie game hobbyist I sometimes think of random ideas for new game mechanics. And one of them that I thought of was a Psycho Mantis-style boss for a PC game who reads your browser history and insults you if he sees anything like, I dunno, furry porn or MLP stuff.
Big Robot Guy with Cheesy Socks Try having it insult anything made by Lauren Faust. By the way, for a boss idea, try making an invincible enemy like Nemesis or SA-X case you through a disturbing, maze-like level with a signature sound effect off in the distance just before it finds you. And when you get a weapon after a long time running away from it, you can take it down VERY SLOWLY while you put yourself at risk trying to FIND THE PERSUER.
@@juanmaguire6482 No, no. You said it right. He is indeed one of the bosses ever! I love this character and back then when there was no internet or at least easily accesible internet. It was hard to figure out that you need to change controllers. Back then, as a kid. I loved codec conversations but none of these guys told me anything. That was until you called Campbell multiple times that he gave you a hint.
So Mantis went from using his mind to lift frickin' vehicles and Metal Gear Sahelanthropus in MGSVTPP to lifting small furniture, picture frames and ornaments to attack Solid Snake in MGS1.
+Bad Sneaky Bear That and using his powers to bring that Goliath to life had to have taken a heavy toll on his young mind and body. Thus, he would feel the nasty backlash of that in the years to pass.
+MegaPhilX SPOILERRRRRRR At my point of view, if you look to "eli" before the batle with sahelontropus you will see that he "falls asleep" when "mantis" goes to him, then you start the batle with sahelontropus. When you kill it, "eli" awakes... At my point of view, matins just make eli control sahelontropus and when he shows up in the batle he is only protecting eli. Just my point of view.
@@KalebKing88 i think if you had a good enough transition effect, you would be able to. now im tempted to make a vr game for this just to mess with people
@@snesmocha You would need to do something different from with the gameplay mechanic, or whatever in order for him to not be in your head while fighting him in first person.
Psycho Mantis, one of my top favorite characters. I would pay some good money to see him in PS4 style graphics. In fact, I just a true remake of MGS1 on PS4 with an updated music score and everything. Just the fucking works.
I'd rather see them remake Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2:Solid Snake instead of MGS1. MGS1 is great regardless of the graphics, but so many people missed out on the first games.
That happened to me the very first time I played Metal Gear Series for PS1 as a kid just under being a teen I played Castlevania SOTN first before this game but when I got to Psycho Mantis and he mentioned about looking deeper into my soul then proceeding to say "You Like Castlevania Don't You?" I legit dropped my mouth with I'd imagine o.O wide eyes like thinking to myself how the hell did he know that?! I honestly got scared that very moment wondering what else he knew and what was I getting myself into. Epic Boss he was I would of thought of him more as a excellent final boss then Liquid Snake was. I mean granted Liquid is snakes brother we get it but up against a man with psychic powers? Would of been much more fitting to a final boss XD nevertheless this game still and always will be one of the best and may my uncle rest peacefully knowing I carried his great interest for Metal Gear Solid even after he unfortunately passed.
I think Mantis' story would make an amazing movie. Maybe have it end with the case where he dove too deep into the killer's mind and ends up how he was in MGS1?
***** I KNOW! Or his own game!!!! I made a tribute about him, because I'm so excited about his appearance in the Phantom Pain as a little boy! He has fiery red hair, and looks like he's between 10-12 years old.
***** Same. According to the first game, he was working in the FBI as a psychic profiler, and delved too deep into a killer's mind. Probably just ended up getting enjoyment out of killing, and having to read a killer's thoughts and perversions too much, he ended up understanding why the killer enjoyed it, and became psychotic as a result. Plus, his own dad mistreated him since birth, so he was already a stick of dynamite about to go off. I made a Mantis Tribute music video for him, cuz I love his character so much. lol
+SunBunz He killed his mother during birth and found out his father abhors him, so he killed his dad and burned his village down. He was always fucked.
Scoulid Scake I never thought of Mantis willfully killing his mother in the womb. Is that implied or is that proven in some cannon backstory I'm not familiar with? Where did you read that? (Just wondering, I'd like to read it too) According to Mantis, his mom's death was incedental (all mothers dying from birth are, granted, he has special powers) and his dad despised him for it, and he was afraid his dad would kill him, he lost consciousnesses and when he came too, his village was burned down. --According to what his dying words were.
I just started listening to this and when psycho mantis said blackout I had my headphones on and that scared the s*** out of me also psycho mantis theme is very intimidating and scary but pretty energizing at the same time
Only Metal Gear i ever played was MGS1 and Rising. And when i played MGS1 i was 7 years old..for a whole year i dreaded the thought of Psycho Mantis. I even had nightmares i still remember about him. And to this day, at 21 years old, everytime i hear the theme that plays throughout his "floor" in MGS1 my hair goes up...Psycho Mantis, one of the most terrifying characters ever.
I found him mysterious & bizarre but well done, I was terrified of the Ninja. I ended up liking Psycho Mantis, when he explains everything & helps you out.
This theme is so badass, I had to remix it. (With "Best is Yet to Come" vocals over it, pitch lowered to make it sound freaky in my Psycho Mantis tribute AMV) I love Mantis SO much. So excited to see him in The Phantom Pain.
Otacon: "S-snake! Is that that guy you told me about?" Snake: "Yep. Psycho Mantis." Mantis *joining the call telepathically*: "the most powerful practitioner of Psychokinesis and telepathy in the world!"
This is just- god its so good, even now after all these years. While The Sorrow might have been creepy, Psycho Mantis was definitely darker, scarier and therefore more dangerous. Loving this sound- the little effects at the start before the percussion begins sound like gas being sprayed which is perfect of course given he wears a has mask. (Russian made GP-7 I believe?)
That innocent looking little boy all grown up. Dangerous and yet simple times they were. His life is a shadowy past. When people go looking around in his past they are going to have a bad time and acquire a bad streak of luck.
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Game was Nintendo’s remake of PlayStation’s Original with improved graphics & dynamic cutscenes and instead of a Lethal weaponry we were given a M9 Tranquilizer Gun and PSG-1 T. I used the M9 To take out the Heliports Search Lights. I collected all the Dog Tags in the Game. Johnny Sakaski’s from Meryl in her Disguise, then I took Meryl’s own, as well as Psycho Mantis’, Sniper Wolf’s, Vulcan Raven’s, & Liquid Snake’s. All the rest came from the Genome Soldiers at hold up. All Difficulty’s Tags collected.
If they ever adapt this into a movie (Which by the way they should do Snake Eater first, doing this one first doesn't make sense anyway you look at it) I wonder how they're going to pull this fight off.
if Mantis hacked YOUR game and to kill him you had switch controller so tecnically you're cheating. in a movie they'd show a black screen and then... i dunno maybe snake kills the actor
TheBlackDemon1996 maybe they make him say " Oh, i can see you.... YES, you! all little rats watching on those seats, wondering what'll happen now" . and then they make some smoke come out of the roof to the persons watching. and if you watching on dvd he says " i can read your dvd " and he makes you tv switch off . same for blue ray
+Jerome "Chef" McElroy He does. It sounds like "I want out" but he does. The blackout is changing your TV channel. Blacking out your screen. Its a nice thing to witness first hand. Thanks Kojima.
Now that snake is returning in smash bros. Ultimate and that trophies are being replaced with spirits, what are the chances of mantis possessing mewtwo? Who holds the true power of psychokinesis and telepathy in the world?
HELL YEAH!!! It's be a much more awesome reference than "some guy stuck in the wall with a silencer pick-up item" from Silent Hill 3! I'd love Psycho Mantis or The Sorrow fuck with my mind in Silent Hill!!!
@BaldurdashWoW The fourth wall. Breaking, or in his case brutally raping, the fourth wall means something in the game, movie, etc. is going beyond the medium its in and talking about or to or making contact with something in the real world. In Mantis's case, he reads your memory card talks to you the player laughs at you and makes your controller vibrate to the point of it actually moving.
As a proper Marvel Comics-Metal Gear crossover fight, it'd be particularly interesting to see how Venom would hold u against Psycho Mantis. Venom would easily have the upper hand, as his symbiote's mind would be targeted by Psycho Mantis' mind-reading, not Brock's mind.
