Pull pan, pull valve body and then air check the system to see if any seals have “blow by (holes at front of case at front of valve body, rubber tipped air blower will act like valve body)… Never used a slide hammer for a 904 or 727, put screw driver between hubs and wiggle, pump will fall out…just how I did it when I built transmissions for a living many years ago… Also, really good video…
I use cope for my stuff. I'm sure you know but for the other guys out there.. definitely use the billet low reverse servo assembly. I had the old assembly get cocked in the bore so the low band did not release and the 2nd gear band came on. The trans instantly locked up !!!!thank god it was on light throttle! My 904 liked to burn the hi gear stock clutches, break the top thick clutch plate on the hi gear drum and crack the converter hub. I rebuilt that trans 5-6 times in the course of 15 years.probably cause i never got good aftermarket parts. Now i have a 727,that i built, with a cope reverse manual V-B, billet low reverse servo, billet hi gear drum with piston and return springs and retainer,Alto clutches, kolene steels, also the ultimate sprag. My old 904 had the 2.77 low gear set .That combined with the 4.30 gears made my mild 360 in my 74 cuda ,an awesome ride ! you are gonna love that low gear ,if it hooks up.
I did go with Cope for the parts. Both billet servos, accumulator, band strut and apply lever. Race clutches, steels and bands. Should be here Monday. I can’t wait to get this thing in the car!
Hands-down, my favorite Mopar guy to watch great video bro I got a duster to that I’ve had for 30 years like I said last time I’m gonna be making videos I hope you watch them. I’m going to the track December 2.
@@Duster_Garage I think it would help your channel quite a bit. If you got on there man there’s a lot of duster guys that are responding just just the pictures of my car. In fact, I’m depending on Facebook to help get my channel rolling when I start.
There is also a lube mod you might want to do for the rear support. it involves drilling a small hole. The support is subject to galling where the output shaft goes thru it.
@@Duster_Garage It will be good on the street, I drove one back when they said Never and no problems for 10 years as weekend cruise and drag raced. Just one thing Must have Lock out shifts , reverse is just that instant reverse lmao no whoops. oh yeah My Neighbor had Dart Sport .557 Mopar cam close to same as your set up , he ran 11.4s as a Bracket racer 6 point cage,360 "home ported J Heads 10.:1 , 4.56(spool) gears with 29.5 x10.5 Bias M/T slicks
Thanks for making this! I have a 904 sitting the corner I want to build but dread it so bad. I don’t know very much about building them or what to look for.
