I’ve been trying to figure out how to use my Line 6 Helix to control my DMX lighting while playing on stage. I’ve been unable to integrate it into QLC+. I was unaware of the “input profiles”…do you think I need to create one for the Helix for it to work?
Hello You do not need to create a profile. Go to the input/output page, click on profile tab and then select Generic Midi. Then go to the virtual console page where you have created your controls. Double click on the control you have created and wish to use and a menu will pop up. Select "auto detect" then move or press the switch or slider on your Helix foot pedal and it will register with QLC+.
@@edwardrichards7722 Thank you for the input. I ended up figuring out my problem. I guess QLC+ didn't like me just using auto detect and pressing the buttons. I had to assign a specific MIDI CC# to the button for it to better associate. Now I just need to make tons of Solo Frame scenes lol
kick drum midi notes into qlc out into dmx so that when i pick a certain scene, my kicks will trigger the flashing of lights? surely there is a way to do it
Hello. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner but things are a bit busy. I am looking at your request and I think I can give you a solution. A few questions first: Are you using an electronic drum set so that the kick drum is already outputting midi or do you need a way for QLC+ to read the audio signal from your kick drum mic? And just so I understand the question: You are calling up different scenes and within each scene you would like the kick drum to trigger or flash certain lights. Is that correct? Thanks Ed Richards
OK..I have published a new video which should answer your question about using a kick drum to trigger lights. Let me know if this answers your question: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BjmEPwORPfE.html
@@edwardrichards7722 oh my goodness, i didnt get a notification to your kind reply and the video you posted! amazing, thank you! yes, my kick drum is a vdrum trigger connected to the roland TM1 module which has midi output which i feed to my laptop (my left foot plays a snare through the same unit) and im just running three little cheap chinese DMX lamps, nothing fancy. id like to use a second midi controller to cycle through different scenes, with one in particular being the 'hot' scene which takes the midi kick signal to initiate the flash...so like BOOF = quick on/off - for when im playing with our three piece, our bassist can run the lights (either with my launchpad mini, or i might buy a foot controller) but on my solo act, i literally dont have a free limb to change up any scenes as im playing guitar and foot percussion, so im thinking using one light to continuously uplight at the front, and set the midi to flash right through the show, maybe even put one behind each foot and have each light to flash with its respective trigger (my new pedal setup isnt as visual as the old set up, so im wanting something that draws attention to them) thanks again for the upload, ive still a lot to get my head around with regards to the basic concepts, ive learned how to set it up and such, but i maybe should have mentioned that im a total beginner, but ill check out the rest of your channel and get myself up to speed
Hello When you are talking about "virtual midi" are you speaking about using your phone or tablet as a midi controller so that you can use it to control the virtual console buttons, faders and knobs in QLC+? If so, I will consider doing a tutorial for that. Ed Richards
I remember you were interested in virtual midi. I just posted two new videos about Midi: Part one explains midi message code ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IPMAMZkIBig.html In Part 2 I explain various ways to connect and send Midi including Midi over ethernet and virtual midi connections for connecting two pieces of software on the same computer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NENYnhJvzg4.html I hope you find this helpful.
