My next big build! This 1966 Chevrolet C10 short bed step side is an awesome barn find and I can't wait to get this thing fixed up.
In this video, we talk we get a new frame for a body swap of a 2008 Chevy trailblazer! This is going to save us so much money! No Disk brake conversion, 4 links rear end, rack and pinion, fuel tank mounting. It's all going to be so easy now! This classic truck is going to be one sweet modern hot rod! With some welding and fabrication and some custom-built cab mounts this thing is going to be sweet!

I've broken several reaction sun shells in 4L60Es - including the 'better' aftermarket units from Sonnax. And this was in a stock-ish Sierra 5.3. Makes me not trust the 60s much for even a stock application. If I were throwing power at it, I'd be on the 4L80E path.

4l60s are sorta weak stock but they are lighter than 80s so drag racers have been using them and theres enough billet parts and and shafts and stuff they can be bulletproof.

Drug dealers don't make any money. Its someone else's money..LOL Few if any ever make any real money before their arrested or killed. Nice cars? they ride in police cars.? I know plenty of successful people, none are retired drug dealers or thieves. They're either dead, severely injured , paralyzed, deformed from a fire or shotgun or AK ,AR 15 shot blast , in prison, homeless and or broke with 7 kids and hustling pot in their 50s. Stay in school.

I was looking at ideas for a 1999+ Silverado/Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon frame swap on a C10 but I would never have thought to look at Envoy's. Thank you so much for the idea.

Trevor I am swapping a 72 Stepside on doing Envoy frame from an Excel. All you have to do is remove 14in out of the center of the frame very simple and if you look at the frame worth welding together you can actually cut and weld it together like they do at the factory remove the 14in and you have a perfect wheelbase length. I’d save the firewall at least, and probably the front floors for the trans tunnel, just weld it all into the truck cab, then you have the whole dash and all the mounts for the wiring, AC, steering, brakes, ect

Since the new 4200 is blown, I’d do the twin turbo 4.8 you mentioned personally. The 4200 is a cool engine, but I think it would suit a camaro or firebird better than a truck

Trevor if this doesnt work, a 71-72 c10 has disc brakes/ and a more flatter frame and most of them do have a coil spring 4 link style setup! Older c10's have like a flat frame, stoked to see this though!!!

You can make the trailing arms longer to fix the wheel base and longer arms could help with rear end geometry. Be relatively easy to build your own with poly bushings.

Yes the 4L80 shares the same bell housing as the 4L60. If you wanted to upgraded us the 4L65 internals, little upgrade secret!

I'd go 4l80... You can build a 4l60 to handle those numbers but a stock 4l80 will handle that sort of power just fine and with a shift kit it's something like 650-750. Be sure to run a decent transcooler and you'll be fine. Keep in mind a 4l80 will bolt up but you'll still need a few things to make it work. There's plenty of write ups on it though.. It isn't terribly difficult

You can build that 4L60. The main thing you need to do is get a high strength sun gear. That's the weak part because it's just aluminum. But if you're in that far you'd be dumb not to do clutch packs and such.

The nice thing about the trailblazer is the different factory configuration. Between the Atlas I6 or a LS, plus AWD being an option. Also the Trailblazer SS guys have a pretty good handle on suspension and drivetrain mods. So how long till you AWD swap it?

Awesome keep going! Maybe would have been better to start with a performance sub, like a scrapped chevy trailblazer ss.... but those parts might swap over later, unsure if they are interchangeable

Beast sun shell and get some extra clutch type rebuild kit especially the 3/4. You can machine down the pistons to fit some more clutch. 99% of them fail at the 3/4 clutches and the reaction sun shell cracking. Might as well put a shift kit and a servo upgrade

If you want to try to prolong the life of that 4l60e there are Orifices that you can drill out on the separator plate to help with the shift quality. Easy and free not saying it will make it hold up to gobs of power but it will help. You could also change the band servo to the one out of a corvette which changes the firmness of the 1-2 shift. Check out Sonnax they have alot of good info

Looks great. I would get the frame and engine all set up before permanently attaching the body. But it will be pretty cool. What are you going to do for gauges ?
