Both Math and Mecca were rappers themselves, math more so on the battle tip. To critique and correct rappers would open themselves up to similar critique. Journalists have a professional objective to not impart their personal views but most in the music industry have little to no professional decorum. It's a free for all and makes these convos tricky because the music and real life situations blend to easily. And then you add the race layer to it and it becomes more complex. Math and Mecca don't seem like they are willing to have a real dialogue about this. This is tantamount to accusing the reporter for reporting on a murder scene, while letting the murderer go free. They will bring some of the rappers actually involved in this lifestyle on here, and ask only softball questions. They don't hold them accountable in the same way they are trying to do Ross, who is always respectable, and telling the truth about this madness playing some of our communities. That boy was a serial killer, regardless of who doesn't like how it sounds or the excuses people try to make. I think Ross needs to keep doing what he's doing because his stories are insightful and entertaining. However, I think platforms that are concerned with the cultural preservation of hip hop (which is basically around black & brown people telling their own stories) shouldn't have Ross on as a guest. I totally get the bigger point Mecc is trying to drive but I think they're speaking out of both sides of their mouths by platforming people on their show just so that they can call them 'culture vultures'.

Mecc is trippin for real and I feel where he's coming from but his frustration is misguided. Trap Lore isn't doing anything that hasn't already been done with is (media) covering violence which rap and our culture already glorify. Meccs message needs to be "you young folks need to wake up, snap out of it and see the reality" The number one killer of black ppl is black ppl.. and all the og's and older trappers are either broke af, dead af, or locked up af and down bad. Very minuscule success rate as a ganster to where you're living like a millionaire and life is great, very minuscule if any truly. Mecc would be better off looking at the camera telling these young folks to traveling, sharing example of other cool successful black men, various different options to find success out the hood versus having a silly ass misguided attitude towards Trap Lore.
