Wow Alexander, you`re like the energiser bunny! You just keep ploughing through, I`m always blown away by your energy and determination! I sure hope you get enough back out of this house to make it worth your while! So nice to see Josh too!
I’m so glad to see Josh salvaging that lumber I noticed had been THROWN AWAY!!! With the price of lumber, I thought that was insane!! Josh, thanks from the bottom of my salvage/reuse/repurpose ♥️!!
This hoarder house it’s way too much for two people. In Alex defense, he called Josh to come and get what he could use but Josh needs to be careful with his health and Alex wasn’t sure if he was coming.
Three men and a baby (stroller)! I knew the minute I saw it that it would break down so watching you three try to get it out was hysterical!! As my husband says (who’s amazing at any kind of problem solving), ‘always look at the thing you’re trying to move to see if/how flexible it can be….’
Great to see Josh! And always love seeing Patrick. 😀. This house is full of amazing things. Each video excites me more watching you dig through another box, another room.
Nice to see Josh rescuing even more from the landfill! The sad thing to me is the thought of the people who collected all of this, I'm sure they had high hopes & great plans for all of it. A valuable lesson for everyone else. Still enjoying watching the progression of the clean-up, great work 👍
Hey everyone! Alex always makes me want to pack a box for the thrift store! The local library may take the books you need to move along for used book sale for fund raising. Just a thought. Thanks for the motivation!!
The museum in Bozeman, MT has a kids section upstairs. There are wonderful animals made of found objects in it. Telephone cords, musical instruments, car parts, tools, anything you can think of. The animals are so very realistic that at first glance one doesn't appreciate the cleverness that went into making them. It is so nice to see you and Josh interacting. You have such a fun friendship.
Thanks for the throne! 🤣 lol! I picked it up today from Kastner and absolutely love it!! Will be using it as my "throne" on my Dollhouse miniature channel 🙃😊
I can suddenly see that everything IN boxes is actually double the work... open box, look through, sort into other boxes. Instead of, see and sort in one like with the other two homes. This is quite the challenge compared to that, but I bet the furniture alone will get you your money back. I hope there's a good extra cheque on top of that for all of your efforts. This was fun to watch!
The war memrobilia piece Alex , i think its from my granmothers old home town of Hartlepool on Northeast coast Uk,She word tell storys of zepplins come over in ww1 and one was shot down by Second Lieutenant Ian Pyott , a solo pilot of a bi-plane, he shot down the Zeppelin L34, On 27th November 1916,wow rare piece of history
So, so glad to see Josh there. I hope he found a ton of stuff he can use. Thank you Alexander for always thinking of others. I'm loving this video series. Hopefully you can recoup some of the cost by the views.
Me!!! I absolutely love it! I was hoping they would ship to the US if it went to auction! It would also look good in Alex’s new house too! It’s perfect 😍 love it❤️❤️
Alex! Congrats on 500k!!! Soooo much stuff… these episodes cause me to clean like crazy… lol Exciting to see what comes and what kind of crazy things ppl save… 🤷🏼♀️ Great episode! Have a great week!
Well done Alex - 1 room down!👏🏻 you look and sound like you’ve hit the wall tho! Great to see Josh in there helping too! Loved the vacuum demo - it was so satisfying to watch😂 Reserve some energy for that attic, maybe all those empty jewellery boxes you keep finding might be a clue to what’s up there🤞🏻🤞🏻
Those movies are in a format called Capasitance Electronic Disc(CED). They were introduced DURING the height of the VHS/BETA War and died fairly quietly. They are a type of vinyl record that loads into a player like an 8-track. You'd have to eject and flip the cartridge over after an hour to continue watching whatever movie it was. The only reason I know this is back when I was first starting out, a roommate bought a player and about a dozen movies at a garage sale for $15. Longer movies were double disc and the picture quality was great on the right TV. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Canning supplies are becoming hard to come by lately. Please don't just discard them before checking that, ok? So great to see Josh. USHITAT! Alex really attracts wonderful people.
The Kirby has a height adjustment pedal on the left side. You can lower the brush head to get it closer to the carpet nap, which should improve the performance I believe.
The mixed up things in the boxes makes perfect sense. She shopped every consignment shop, charity store, yard sale, estate sale, and church sale in a week. After that she brought it took it home packed it up as she found it for her yard or garage sales that she had maybe every 3 months. But the things bought way out numbered anything sold. Then she forgot what she had and bought more.
The addiction they had was for the hunt and aquirement of the goods, they really didn’t care for them after they bought them, so they didn’t sort them or probably look at them afterwords. There didn’t need to be any order to their storage because they had no interest in looking at them again. It was all about the hunt!👏👏👍🇦🇺
It's always great to see Josh . One of the great treasures from the Potters house was finding Josh and his IG & You Tube channel. I always enjoy watching Alex & Josh teaming up. Patrick and Alex have really done a lot of work and have cleaned out a lot of things in the house so far.
I would not make the assumption that the owners of this home and these things never enjoyed them, in fact I’d argue that they likely had great fun at auctions, estate sales, garage sales etc buying what they thought was something of particular interest and possibly something they felt was going to increase in value some day. It’s been mentioned a few times that it would appear the last owners of the home were no longer living there, there was on,y one bed uncovered and it was buried deep under a mountain of things. So, the house really had become a giant temperature controlled warehouse to house their treasures. While for most the site of all this “clutter” is anxiety inducing, for others this actually brought comfort and a sense of well being and pride that they were able to collect such a large collection of things. I have no idea of this families background but I draw upon my own experiences with a Step Mother who was a hoarder and several family members who have a shopping addiction. The folks who were buying these things were enjoying the buying and looking and bidding and winning something they felt held great value, like that beast thing in the garage. Anyway ...just another POV.
Did you ever look into the attic space? also, how nice of you to sweep up as you go, and for giving Josh all of the shelving and wood...There seems to be more than enough for everyone to find something they can use.
I had a water bed and loved it. But, when I moved to an apartment I had less space and water beds weren't permitted. So, I bought an ordinary mattress and put it in place of the bladder and I used all those extra drawers to make up for less space. Even water bed frames can be very useful!
Not laserdiscs. CEDs. Basically they are movies on vinyl records that play via a special stylus. The plastic shell protects the record when you slot it into the player and leaves the record inside when you pull the case out. Not a perfect summary but they were an interesting technology). Horror titles sell well so people can get them signed at fan conventions.
I think a perfect example of your ever optimistic mind is that after so many times of saying… “There’s no rhyme or reason” and “the label on the box doesn’t necessarily mean that’s what’s in the box…” That you look at boxes that are labeled jars and assume that there are jars in them.
That really made me laugh out loud!! ..... 'Bob Ross infuenced a lot of people to do a lot of paintings that they shouldn't have ' ...... so true 😊😊 Bless him .... I remember watching Bob Ross on TV back in the 90's .... I was never influenced though lol.
The vacuum collection. Classic. Laughed out loud. I hate to break it to you but: THE ATTIC! maybe more vacuums! The hatch to the attic lurking in the background sort of freaks me out. 🎃
6:30 Looks like that is from the November 27, 1916 Zeppelin raid on Hartlepool. The Zeppelin was shot down and pieces washed up on the shore. I'm guessing that is part of said airship. Not sure what the bottom bit is - perhaps also salvaged from that same wreck?
Hey Alex, Love your videos! Top Tip, if you put things like that bar stool and good lumber in the front yard with a free sign someone will take it, and you won't be sending perfectly good things to the dump. Or paying to haul it away. I've moved over 30 times in my life, trust me it will be gone within 24hrs. Especially lumber...
You guys have done a TON of work! I'm really glad you are doing this series while I am clearing out some of *our* hoard - after my husband's passing. I had a couple of very good friends come over today to remove my husband's clothes, help with laundry, and sort through (far too many) linens. At the end of the day, their SUV was crammed full of boxes and bags for charity - which they dropped-off on their way home❣️ And I now have an empty closet. Thank you for sharing your journey while I plow through mine. You are an inspiration!
The vacuum tubes at the end of the video. You should definitely keep those!!!!! Anyone who repairs guitar amps would love to have those. In the original boxes & everything.....
So funny seeing you all try to get the baby carriage through the doorway. I was yelling at the screen, " Take the body off". Glad you got there in the end. 🤣🤣🤣
I loved our waterbed. My husband didn't love it. When he got rid of it for a conventional bed, I continually complained about being cold. I missed my warm waterbed. Those were the days!
@@stevengallant6363 Exactly. He's building his channel and building up inevitable bidding customers for the auction. He's a business man. A decent business man though.
Lav this episode thank you Alex and also Patrick, nice to see Josh came. My fav scenes are the vacuum cleaner show and the baby stroller thats so hilarious. Thank you again for sharing this amazing adventure
Alexander, you and Patrick are doing a great job! It is always great to have a Josh with you!:-) I am glad your family jewels are intact and not even holes in the jeans. Lucky you! Sleeping on a water bed is interesting. One little move and the whole bed moves. You get use to it. Keep up the great work!
Wow, those copper peacocks! My parents on other side of world (quite literally) have one of those on their wall. Have had as long as I remember too, so at least 30 years 😃 I rarely see familiar stuff in here, so that was a big surprise 😄
Oh and now you uncovered my grandmas clock! Well same kind of at least 😉 Perpentular motion clock or what ever you called it 🙂 This is clearly a bit more nostalgic episode for me 😁
It looks like my mom packed those boxes. Lol. She “helped” me pack for moving once and my sh** was all mixed up. She had Halloween decorations mixed in with kitchen mixed in with bathroom stuff. And all the boxes were to heavy for my to lift. Never again.
23:00 You need to put the vacuum cleaner in horizontal position when using it, not vertical as you did - you block the exhaust from the engine when it is standing vertically. It is for storage only, not during use. Now we know who's vacuuming your house, and it's not you. 😁
I was laughing so hard watching you struggle with that baby carriage. I had one of those for my daughter way back when, so I knew the top came off. I'm glad you figured it out before you dismantled the house further.
@@tinarennett9041 take the wheels off? I guess that was sort of what they eventually did, though it would be more accurate to say they took the bassinet off of the frame. That was how it was designed to be used. We would take the top part off of the frame and set it into the back seat of the car with the baby sleeping inside, toss the frame into the trunk or back of the station wagon, and drive home. Car seats weren't a thing back then.
It was nice seeing Josh again!😄🫶🏼 Everybody needs a Josh and a Patrick!🥰 I still think that all the good stuff was taken out of the house before you came.😊 I have been following you for quite some time now,Alex..and you still make me laugh!😂I loved the moment the three of you were trying to get that pram out that little room…I was just shouting, guys you can get the top part off!🤣
Good work all three of you. An incredible amount of stuff. Josh you’re looking good! Alex and Patrick, always fun to watch you two excavating. Thanks for another episode and now I’m off to clear the accumulating junk in my office lol!
When i was in college, my ex mother in law gave us a big brass wall hanging. It was ugly, but I strung speaker wire through it and hooked it up to my old tv to pick up the local channels because we couldn't afford cable. It worked pretty good as an aerial antenna
That was fun. You are all working SOooo hard!! I've emptied a hoarder house and I know how easy it is to get discouraged. After a while, we discovered that if we just concentrated on getting one room empty, it gave us the push to get another one done, and that gave us the push for a third, and so on. That's hard to do when you have a time limit on the dumpsters and have people coming for furniture, etc. You're doing a great job and it's so much fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Not laser discs, those are old RCA Selectavison CED analog discs. They were basically records that had fine cut grooves in it to store video.Used a special stylus like an LP turntable. It was the product that killed RCA, because RCA took so long in developing that format, Phillips (and I believe Sony) beat them to the punch with the actual laserdisc format. But VHS killed all of them, more or less. Might be collectable to people who collect defunct formats (and they are out there).
The Three Musketeers are reunited - yay🥰🥰🥰. That carved chair was really something. It was in mint condition, especially the upholstery. Not sure where it would go, though. Maybe a Santa chair. It looks more like a throne. And those boxes full of items wrapped in newspaper - well, they are like “lucky dip” boxes. You never know what you are going to find. Thank you Alexander for another great video. Look forward to seeing you, Patrick and, hopefully, Josh again soon. With best wishes from Down Under 😘💕🇦🇺.
Don't know why, but I love going treasure hunting with you in hoarded houses. Thanks for bringing us along with your special sauce of eye rolling dad jokes. lol
@@joypiepenhagen7118 lol, I do think Josh is a cutie, but just a puppy (as in someone I would grab their cheeks like an overbearing aunt and say "You're just so cute) No, I really like treasure hunting.
If I had the carpets, I'd go with the Kerby! Best vacuum cleaner we've ever owned, I remember a the brown one we had when I was a kid. I just had my split entry home hardwood floors refinished last week. About to move in! I have like zero furniture! I could use a hand Alex 🤣 That green chair would be a perfect extra chair 😊 Love the video!
Every time I see one of these episodes I wish I were there to scavenge some items! The canning jars are worth their weight in gold to people who can. 🙂
It's almost like the doubling charm in Harry Potter. Touch one thing and all of a sudden there's a million more. As for waterbeds, I loved mine because it was always warm.
H, ha... You had me screaming at the screen to lift the bed box out of the buggy frame... Great progress. Hope to see the bottle pick up in next episode. The auction is going to be great, even just by sheer volume. You are so fast at sorting. I would get stuck focusing on each area. I wonder if ADHD makes you a better sorter because your attention naturally keeps going to the next thing so you get a rapid overview of the whole project. And you are making decisions at lightening speed. Well done. It was nice to see Josh. I hope his health continues to improve.
Good afternoon. I've been clearing out my home office. I have antique paperwork from the 80s and 90s. It brought back memories from the days before the internet. Your videos help us all think about all the junk we need to clear put before we die and leave the mess to our loved ones.
@@stormdancer0 I use that term loosely. I found documentation from learning computer software like dbase and lotus 123. I had forgotten all about those days.
Those pink couch cushions are a gold mine! I bought one unupholstered foam cushion at JoAnn's Fabrics that size and it cost $70. US dollars! For ONE cushion!
Where I live in the US, we put things out by the curb for anyone to take Free, when I saw you carry the bar stool, it would have been a great curb find.
Hello,Are there any flea market people in your area?? Give them a call and make the a good deal on fill up the trucks.Let them do alot of the leg work moving the stuff in some of the box,you have mark for charity.
