I don't understand how people still don't know or to think to turn the captions on, instead of complaining her accent! She is a native speaker

This looks like a good program to start out with because all the exercises look relatively mild. I'm 76 and have COPD, so I have to start out easy. I can't do any of the exercises that require use of a wall...my walls are laden with photos and artwork that reflect my heritage...Scots and Irish. Thank you for having this available; I appreciate it. I especially appreciate getting to listen to the wonderful accents you speak with!

@TisEyerish1 Instead of using a wall, use a door, they’re just as good. Whatever’s advised give it a try, it’ll do you more good if you continue on, I promise you! Best wishes with your journey, mine too 😊

I still crave a B&M wood tip sweet, because when I quit, I wasn't truly ready. It has been almost 9 months since I was hospitalized for pneumonia. I was in the hospital for 5 days and could not smoke, and I knew then that I had better take advantage of it. So when your craving a smoke, just know your not alone, and we can do this together. 💜✌🏼

An excellent and very informative video, very many thanks indeed.😊 I do exercises on a daily basis and I’ve really benefitted from them. Recently after badgering my Dr I was really fortunate to be able to go on 2 week Pulmonary Rehab course twice a week for 6 weeks. I can’t tell you how brilliant it was! If any other lung disease patients feel they would like to give it a go, please ask your Dr, and in necessary, give badgering him/her…after all it’s our bodies we’re doing the very best we can for! 😊

I have participated in a number of videos regarding COPD and the first thing you are shown is breathing exercises before starting any of the exercises, etc but I found they only mentioned breathing near the end of the sessions.

i was gasping for breath just doing the warm up lol. Cant do half the excersices in this vid cause of other health problems on top of empysema. I aint having another flu jab. last time i had 1 i ended up with flu and nearly died. only had flu once in my life and it was 2 weeks after having the flu jab. Half the ppl i know who had the flu jab ended up getting flu.

A good place to start is 30 seconds. If you notice yourself getting out of breath or it being too difficult reduce the time a little. Maybe 20. If it goes fine for the next time you can try 45 second or a minute. It comes down to how your body and your cardiovascular system reacts. If you do say. 10 excersises each for 30 seconds and a minute between you have a total of 15 minutes. Do this 2-3 times a day. Or some excersises like the leg raising in sitting you can do whenever you think of it while sitting. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute every half an hour/hour. It also helps to get up every 30 minutes of sitting and just walk a little distance to get the blood flowing again. It is tricky to give one size fits all times as each person is different but I think this info might help you and others to find what is achievable. Just remember to start slow. And not to overdo it. Even if it goes well don't overdo it as tiredness can strike 2-3 days later.

Tell your Dr that you’ve heard about some excellent Pulmonary Rehab and you would very much like to be included. I had to badger my Dr a bit, but she finally referred me for an NHS 6 week course which consists of twice weekly classes of each you’ll be given a talk which is excellent. The rest of each class is with each patient doing exercises, walking, cycling, sit to stand, arm raises with dumbbells, and wall pushes. Doing each was great benefit for me and I’d recommend them to all suffers. All the very best.

@@suewright1299 Thank you Sue, appreciate your reply. Did you see that my post was over 3 years ago. I should advise you that I have lived in Cyprus for 23 years now, so the NHS, rehab is not available to me. I have since found a small exercise program as I also have a spinal problem and cannot walk well, together with a smashed shoulder from a fall. So, not easy for me but I try! Thank you again, Lyn

Question?//I had tuberculosis which took 11 months to cure. 6 months after treatment my breathing has not improved. I walk 30 yds at pace I am gasping for breath for a minute or two. I have mucus every day once a day and have a runny nose for short periods.........will my lungs improve in time or am I stuck with shortage of breath for the rest of my life?

The last section of this video should be the first part. Why? There is ZERO mention of diaphragm breathing at the beginning. The exercises don’t have any instruction on when to inhale through the nose and exhaling for twice that time through PURSED LIPS, as if blowing out a candle but more SLOWLY and SILENTLY. This help rid the lungs of trapped air, the waste product of breathing. People with emphysema have a terminal illness affecting their lungs. They can improve quality of life, but there is no cure. Their body can no longer rid itself of “used breath”, and air can’t escape the lungs. Bad air clogs the transport of blood attempting to pump throughout the cells and keeping the heart muscle free of disease. If you smoke, whether it was two a day for a week or two packs a day for decades, or if you still smoke today - get used to the thought of 24/7 oxygen to stay alive with a tube in your nose pumping the air into your damaged lungs. Quit smoking, get a PFT1 breathing test IMMEDIATELY!! No need to suffer because there are meds to help ease the pain of emphysema - whether Stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 or stage 4 (the END-STAGE). Read the book by Allen Carr to help you to stop smoking - he tells you to KEEP SMOKING WHILE YOU READ THE BOOK. I guarantee you will begin to seriously consider quitting by short Chapter 2. It is funny, informative, and better than a nicotine patch. Why buy nicotine, the killer, and pump it into your bloodstream via your arm? Read the book! If you never smoked, DON’T!!

Where do you get these masks from? That the destroyed lung is always and daily destroyed and nothing helps us to be realistic and not to lie thinking that if we twist it is better for us.
