Jackie Brown is my favorite Tarantino film. Pam is glorious in that role. 😍 also it's ridiculous that Sam didn't get an Oscar for this. Whenever I need to do something in a hurry I use Harvey's quote, "If I'm curt with you it's because time is a factor."

Joseph thank u for saying what I've always felt Watching pulp fiction as a kid. I don't believe in the defense of separating the artist from their art because his characters didn't say the word. He did in person and in the screenplay.

White people saying the n word is not the problem. The problem is black people's relentless use of the word to refer to anybody as both an insult or not depending on the context. From real life to entertainment and rap music, If they don't respect themselves enough to stop perpetuating the use of the word, why should the rest of the world.

My friend and I actually snuck into this at 13 years old upon its release. The "gimp" scene messed us UP!!!! I literally was thinking "WTF?!" Tarantino and the n-word fascination still boggles my mind and I don't understand it.

I respect how honest you two are. I agree I saw this movie as a teen and was so confused about the Gimp and what it is. Is it a person?Is it a mutant? Why won’t it scream for help? The gimp seems to also like being where it was at and then some. Please review more popular mainstream movies especially a theme of childhood movies that you both loved and are special to you both.

It’s so interesting to hear your commentary. I vividly remember going to the theater at 16-years-old and watching this. I was completely enthralled and still love this movie to this day. Top 5 for me, but I do understand and agree with your critiques. Love you guys!

Is there a sign in my yard saying bring dead Ns here, Is one of the funniest lines in the movie. Many things have changed since they made the movie, however, it is the only movie to date where I laughed out loud at people being violently killed.

Good movie, but I do feel it’s also overrated. Jackie Brown is excellent. And KILL BILL (1&2) is my personal favorite. Inglourious Basterds is probably his best. I love DJANGO.

I haven't heard very many people as passionate and knowledgeable about the Art of Cinema than Nick and Quinton Tarantino, both would be included in my ultimate movie roundtable discussion on Cinema. With Scorsese, Alejandro Jodorowasky, Guillermo Del Toro and maybe Maggie from (Deep Focus Lens), I have a long list but I'll keep it short. This is a compliment to both RU-vid movie reviewers I currently watch, despite the fact that some reviewers like to spoil new movie endings for the rest of us. 😉

Good review guys. I watched this movie way back when it came out in 1994 and loved it, but yes the use of the N word by Tarantinos character always rubbed me the wrong way and kind of tainted the whole experience for me.

Pulp fiction is one of my all-time favorites but I won hundred percent agree about that seeing where Tarantino is playing the character. Besides the fact he’s not a good actor lol the scene is just so bizarre hearing him say the N-word to Sam Jackson and not immediately get shot just makes no sense It’s the one part of the movie that really just feels out of place and I do wish that he would’ve just cut that shit out.

Thank you! God, I like this movie but I've always felt it had so so many issues. I genuinely love Django and Kill Bill way way more, those have a lot of his problematic elements but those two are stronger narratives and some of those elements fit better!

Hey guys as always, I love your channel and it just gets better and better. Nick you crack me up with your civil rights view points regarding racism in film, and I agree with your take on Tarantino. And Joseph, man, when you said what you said, I have to say I whole heartedly agree, Tarantino gets on my nerves with his, I can say what I want attitude regarding that word. Ummm, no you can't Tarantino and the sooner you realize this the better. Sheesh!!!!! Just because Samuel gives you license, it ain't cute dude get over yourself. Nick your Sigourney Weaver stan mentality is coming out again. I've heard good reviews of the film she was in though. Although I'm not a Roman Polanski fan for obvious reasons despite his directing talent. 1994 was a strange year for Best Actress nominees. There were many great female performances overlooked that year for average performances from bigger name stars.

I’m personally convinced kill bill vol 1-2 together is his greatest movie and still one of my favorite movies. But I grew up loving cult kung fu and Sergio spaghetti westerns and kill bill combines those two genres perfectly in kill bill.

I saw this movie in the cinema, back in 94…and it was so cool and innovative at the time..the soundtrack was brilliant..This movie started so many fashion trends, with Umas hair, ( which I copied ) it was very Betty Page too, Chanel nail colour, her white shirt, short flared pants..everyone wanted to look like Mia..

Is this the movie (or am I thinking of another one) in which the characters go in back of the restaurant and encounter a strange scary looking demonic entity in some hood? I think it growls at them or something... It is so random and disjointed that it makes no sense for it to be there and it scares the bejesus out of me because I forget that its there since I play this movie maybe once a half-decade lol!

I think this scene is in Mulholland Drive, if I'm not mistaken. It's not a demon, it's a homeless guy (I think), but it freaked me out so much, that's one hell of a jumpscare! So creepy

I only watched this movie once in my entire life when I was in college (your review is really tempting me to watch it again with fresh eyes) and I understand the cult following this movie has but Tarantino's use of the N-word in this movie was wierd as hell. It took me out fo the movie entirely. That felt personal and he really dimissed people (black people mostly) who felt a way about it. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Kill Bill on the other hand...

Quentin is a little much sometimes and I completely understand about his use of the N word bothers you. I have biracial kids so I'm also sensitive to the use of that word. Tarantino has way better movies than this and in my opinion those are True Romance Django Inglorious Bastards Reservoir Dogs This one was just ok but I do like the cameos QT always seems to have in his movies. I didn't care for Uma Thurman's character in this but I do love Rosanna Arquette and forgot she was in this! Thanks for the review. 💕 Love you guys 🥰☺️

Glad you got to see this one Joseph! Truth be told, it's the only Tarrentino movie that is ANY good. The rest of his movies always seemed to me to just be Quinton stroking his own ego, the Kill Bill movies chief among them🙄I was also anxious to hear what you thought of him saying the N word like every five seconds in the kitchen scene. I think it's BS that he thinks he gets a pass, OR that he would even want one.

I still need to watch the first part of the video, so maybe this point was always covered, but I think a puzzling part of Tarantino’s character repeatedly using “that word” is that it’s completely unsupported by anything we understand about his character or his motivation… why does this random dorky guy in a bathrobe that we never see again talk like this? As a result, feels very self-indulgent and seeking cheap shock value rather than doing anything to service the story

I thinks as you guys said a lot of his movies probably wouldn't made it at today World and time but definitely when watching this movie when first came out and even now Quentine Trantino movies is like a scape from the every day life, is like watching all the stuff that you can't really do in your everyday real life, and people do say he is rasict due to use of N-word, but honestly I think he is the only director that gives his actors any colours or genra the same opportunity

Well, I did go and finally watch this movie (mostly so I could watch this review since I was going into it blind) and it was quite entertaining. I was so taken aback with the non black characters saying the n-word, especially so many times. Unnecessary. The highlight of this movie for me was hearing where a favourite DJ duo Zeds Dead got their name! Also the robber couple -- messy as hellll

Joseph, you’ve said you’ve never seen Django Unchained, I think it would be interesting and insightful for you to watch it and give your honest opinion about it, especially if you think the movie is in bad taste you can share your thoughts about that, rather than not seeing it altogether and not having any discussion about it. One thing I think you do very well is you are honest about a movie even if you don’t like it you criticize it the way you see it yet you still mention positives about the movie or vice versa and you give a very honest opinion and seem pretty fair, I think Django Unchained is a polarizing film that no matter what opinion you have on it, it would be very interesting to hear your opinion and as always nick’s knowledge is so impressive I thought there were so many good performances in that movie would love a video. Anyways, love the channel

I'm a huge Tarantino fan. I love that he essentially makes "elevated schlock" with the intent to appeal to film nerds (actually nerds of all types) and I think his tendency to be provocative and shocking is an essential part of the fun. I find it daring and singular. I also appreciate how his characters are often very likable and unlikable at the same time.

In what world do you not understand how using that word is a practice in everyday society? In what way do you think that Tarantino is somehow less allowed to employ said word due to his prior films or race? Tarantino is a master of using that word in ways that fully portray its power/ridicule/evil…and I really need you guys to point me to a film where it is out of place. Every situation and character that says it can be seen as very probable or normal in the given scene… Which helps to showcase all of the baggage of the word. When Jimmy was dropping n bombs and it rubbed you the wrong way?…THAT IS THE POINT! Can you recall any scenes that are equally jarring? How can you not see this film critiquing racism by showing it as it is? 🤦‍♂️ As for QT’s answer to the ‘journalist’…it is his way of denying material instead of playing along for the drama. Wish more actors and directors did it. OD’s funny. N word bad. Not a good look. Props for risking a comment tirade criticizing what is arguably the greatest, most influential films in history. Have to push back on some of your points but I am glad you decided to look at this film. Oh…and for being indulgent and long…you both sure do seem to recall the characters very well. Almost like they are all very well rounded and portrayed.

In 1994, use of the N-word was not that big of a deal. Tarantino is a big fan of 70s blaxploitation movies in which the N-word was used very liberally.
