Interesting arrangement - especially the bolted bus bars. Good that the BMS is JB or JB clone. I don't like the handles fitted to the top that is easy to remove....a little like the handle on a cup that breaks off shattering the cup (but the handle is safe)
Ahh, I see what you're saying about the handles. Yeah, I think if you were toting it around a lot that's a possibility. It has some great parts, and for super cheap. They nee to fix the BMS mounting though. Thanks Ben!
Hello. I have some questions I have a similar battery (elefast) and it uses a similar bms. I can't not get it to charge past 13.6. What am I doing wrong? I use the overkill solar app.
I'm looking at setting up a solar arrangement in my Suburban. Space is limited, so I'm considering an SOK battery due to its small footprint, bluetooth, and high/low temp protection. This battery seems to have the same footprint as the SOK (which is also $200 more expensive) and high/low temp protection along with bluetooth. Would you recommend this knockoff or should I stick with the SOK?
The only thing I'm hung up on with this battery is how the BMS is mounted. It needs the fiberboard to cover the full bottom of the BMS. It also needs a foam block under the lid to hold the BMS down. Other than that it seems to have really good components. If you felt comfortable you could bang the lid off, and fix these issues.
@@BradCagle Thanks. I put it on my short list just in case. I plan to use a Victron 20A smart MPPT either way I go, coupled with a Redarc DC-DC charger.
looking at this battery and the elefast mini 100ah lifep04 that appear to be the same battery case. There seems to be a discrepancy in the dimensions. What are the actual dimensions of this battery? Thanks!
I was ready to buy this one or one of the look-alikes, but now they are 2-3 weeks out on Amazon shipping? There were 4 - this one, Elefast, Elfhub, and Lisuateli. I figured that they were all the same battery, just a different label. Now that they are not in stock, our only (ready to ship) option is Vatrer, or a couple new labeled larger boxes? I wonder if the next shipment of the Pup will be the same as the one in this review? Or something completely different? Frustrating!
As a Rule, I generally AVOID (unpronounceable) brand names …. perhaps I need to ‘loosen’ my limitations 🤔 Very interesting (to Me) to see a “Mini” w/ prismatic cells. I was under the impression that the (minis) would all be pouch cells.
Im looking at replacing my the ecoflow in my overlanding rig. Super tight on space so this looks like a great option. Do you think the included Bluetooth is enough so i wouldn't need to install a battery monitor?
Brad, did you try using the bluetooth app shown on the paper work it came with? I bought a lossigy bluetooth w/ self heating and the bluetooth app is garbage.
Ardroit 50A charger. I don't recommend it, it has blown caps on me, and I had to replace them. I also tuned it down from 50A, to 40A because it's too hot. Look for something else.
People don't like change, in the early 90s ford had 5 speed sticks in their trucks advertised as 4 speeds with overdrive. The demographic was used to 4 speeds and seeing a new fangled 5th gear added as an overdrive would have driven so.e away. Plus the tie down brackets in battery trays won't fit if you switch to a smaller battery
This battery showed up with some odd readings in the app. 4 cells all at wildly different voltages. One of the apps I've connected the battery to states there are two alarms on the BMS 1. Cell Undervoltage Protection 2. Battery Undervoltage Protection. The cells read as Cell 1 - 0.221v, Cell 2 - 0.044v, Cell 3 - 2.638v, Cell 4 - 1.141v. Been charging the battery with a 20Amp LiFeP04 charger for a few hours with almost no change to any of the settings. Any advice?
Of note, my charger is reading that it's charging the battery at 12.6 Amps and the app says 12.2-12.4. Maybe I just need to let it charge overnight and see what the app reads in the morning?
So the seller is now asking me to charge my already fully charged 12v 50Ah battery in parallel with their 12v 100Ah battery. Is this safe? I see that you have to use the same voltage batteries and the same chemical makeup but not much about amp hour differences being safe or unsafe. Any thoughts if it's okay to do this? Again my 50Ah is fully charged and their 100Ah is not really charged at all.
@@BradCagle I subscribed because I'm in the market to purchase. No offense, but what these reviews lack is any sort of follow up. I noted that the cells WEREN'T balanced, and you noted that the foam between the bms and the cells COULD be an issue - but there's no follow up on either? So basically, you show us how to open a box, and whether the product performs for 48 hours - then something new catches your attention? Kinda worthless and boring, for you (obviously) and me too.
@@mrdavesivertsen Yeah, I recognize this. I've done some follow ups on longer term use of product. I've also setup a battery rack where I put all these in parallel to work them over. But how long is enough time? and by then has the company changed the construction, and components (which we have seen on numerous occasions). Thanks
