Funny fact the actor in decalcomanie is actually gay in real life and moonbyul had the hardest time keeping a straight face during their scenes together. You'll see a lot of behind the scenes and inside jokes on MMMtv. MMMtv always gives a good laugh and its always refreshing to see the girls being themselves in the episodes

Okay but Decalcomanie is really THAT song. The vocal layering is insane!

Storytime: The Blue Dragon Awards are known as the idol graveyard (serious, important actors won't lower themselves to enjoy silly teenager idol music). 2016 Mamamoo happened to it. They sang Decalcomanie. Since they sing live they can adlib and change the lyrics however they want; they worked in lots of famous lines from movies and shoutouts to the actors in the audience. Audience started smiling and warming up. Moonbyul (because *of course* it's Moonbyul) in her rap asked out one of the most famous actors in Korea with his famous line from a movie. The audience lost their shit!* By the end of one song the cold audience was smiling, clapping, bopping to Mamamoo. * - Because, after all, "It's not a Mamamoo performance unless someone in the audience loses their shit™". Test it any live performance that shows audience reactions, it's ALWAYS true.

Mamamoo fandom is 98% women and 2% men so imagine their reaction to this .......... did I mention that mamamoo fans are mostly lesbians and gay women ?

I think captions on Aze Gag are impossible because it is all puns and wordplay, and it really benefits from reading a full explanation on a static page rather than trying to catch everything on captions. Reading the literal translation without explanation makes even less sense than just going in blind. Also, re: Delca. OH YEP. I just watch the dance version because it's less cringe. If I want cringe, I'll just watch Moonbyul's acting.

So, in New York, wheein is dating this guy, and for some reason the other girls convinced her to go along with this big plan of pretending to be in New York and I literally have no idea why. I'm sure there's more to the story but I haven't looked too into it cause I mostly know this song as the first one mmm had to lip sync to and almost completely f*cked it up, lol. In the end, the boyfriend runs into the girls... in South Korea, most definitely _not_ New York where he'd thought Wheein was at. That's why shes seen apologizing to him😅

decalcomanie was controversial not only because it had a guy in it (many fans definitely hated that) but also because it was so "graphic" showing female sexuality. i still think they were brave to do that even if its pretty cringy to watch now

The song New York is about girlfriends convincing Wheein to have a girl’s night out. The problem is that Wheein is in one of those relationships where the couple is attached at the hip. For example, Wheein exercises and the guy sweats (they are like one person). They spend every moment from the time they get up in the morning til they go to bed (shown by split screen of Wheein and the guy in the morning). So, chances are even when Wheein meets her friends, the guy probably has been tagging along. Moonbyul briefs Wheein about a plan to have girls only night out by pretending she is in New York. The plan went well until the end when the guy accidentally runs into them. Mamamoo songs have some unique ideas. Lol. Also, I recommend reacting to two subunit songs - Angel (sung by Solar & Wheein) and Dab Dab (sung by Moonbyul & Hwasa). These songs are on the same album as Decalcomani. The MVs on the official website are actually live performances from a concert, so there might be more to react to as a vocal coach. When these songs were released, mamamoo members made a bet on their respective songs about which song will rank higher on the chart, and the losing duo had to receive a penalty. Guess which team won.

generally, at least in their first few years, the versions of MVs posted on distributor channels (1theK etc) got more views. the mamamoo channel versions are more likely to get similar or sometimes more views nowadays, but RBW still don't tag and title the videos well for english speaking/International audiences so its not guaranteed... (you noticed that the mmm versions often don't come up when you search 😔) also new york wasnt the title track, so not as many views bc of that too!

ha, you're absolutely right on "aze gag" with captions... the song is pretty much nothing but dad jokes and lame puns, they're talking about older male officer workers who love doing those kinds of lame jokes and expect expect everyone to laugh at them. solar is seen laughing at all the jokes and then seen writing for them...which kind of talks about her humor style basically, even when translated, none of it would make sense since so much is based on word play and homonyms, which often gets lost in translation. but the channel dkdk tv did make an attempt at breaking the jokes down as they watched the video, if you're interested (and they groaned the whole time at just how bad they were the whole time) the guy talking on th tv is a famous korean comedian and he told a few jokes in that segment (something along the lines of 'what kind of noise does a robotic chicken make' "mmm chicken, mmm chicken'. and then one about a 'mother radish', whichis 'mama moo') ...also, that wall segment. there are whole videos and twitter threads dedicated to the best wheein ship out there, wheein x wall. she seems to love those walls...

You should react to their song with Bumkey called "Don't be happy" I think you would really like it, and its one of my personal favorites.

oh, i have to laugh a little bit every time i see hwasa clapping in "decalcomanie", whether the mv, live performances or what. i feel bad for laughing, though, but can't stop myself. it's just so obvious how awkward that clapping is for the poor girl since she's left-handed and has to clap right-handed like the other three... ha, the 'doesn't play for your team' comment...i know others have already pointed out that the actor used is gay. apparently the agency picked him specifically so the girls would feel more comfortable doing the kissing scenes, though it didn't exactly work. the mmmtv episode about this video shoot is pretty funny, showing moonbyul instantly releasing the guy's tie and almost storming off (she was trying not to laugh) and wheein even made fun of herself for how shy and awkward she got, including doing a ballet spin away from him for one attempt at their kissing scene a thing about this mv's theme... in south korea there's a concept of women blossoming after a first kiss, so that's what the four girls were after. they wanted to experience this blossoming so went hunting for a victim, all four chose the same man and made him think he was the one doing the hunting when in fact he was the prey. the blossoming explains the blindfolds being removed and i suppose the crushed fruit, as well, though that one seems a lot more overtly sexual... but yeah, the women all use him for that then discard him and hang out together, having gotten what they wanted also, the song used for those kissing scenes is another song from the album, called either "memory" or "draw draw draw". it's very much a christmas-themed song, esp the mv for it

As you can see, he Discovers in the end that she's actually in Korea. New York wasn't a title track, which I think is the cause of the lower views. Delcalcomanie was indeed controversial, and one of Solar's scenes had to be edited and the video re-uploaded after outcry that it was too explicit. Aze Gag (sometimes called Age Gag) would not have made much more sense with subtitles. It's a series of puns and dad jokes put to music, and as you might correctly assume, you'd either need a deeper understanding of the Korean language or a thorough explanation to understand the jokes. Most of the jokes are well known by the Korean community, and even people who've never heard the song might be able to complete the joke.

I love the decalcomanie mv (though I could do without the flowery intermission). Expressing sexuality in kpop is often avoided so fans can not have their fantasies of being with an idol or their fave ship ‘ruined’, even if it’s something the idols want to express or explore. Given the lyrics and concept for the song I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a male actor /acting/ with them. I mean the girls were laughing and being all embarrassed while filming with the actor because they are all awkward introverts irl😂 Was the mv a bit cringe at times, yeah a bit imo (especially that extended intermission with the subtle sexual imagery etc)... was it bad because it alludes to an intimate/physical relationship between the girls and a male actor... no. I mean they’ve talked about dating and past relationships before despite that being a topic avoided at all costs by idols. They were/are all grown women I don’t really get the problem 🤷‍♀️ But idk that’s just my opinion ❤️☀️🌒👑🐶

They used to always have more views in the other channel but now us moos have organized ourselves to stream and increase the views on the mmm channel. Also new york was a b-side (from decalcomanie cb) so that's why it doesn't have as many views as a main single (it has 4.7M on Stone Music channel) Ps. For a long time I thought the performance video was the official MV for Decalcomannie because of the ammount of views it had. Only down the road I stumbled upon the official MV. For me it's actually ok, but I guess a lot o moos didn't like it and just watched the performance one. Just saying that Decalcomannie is one of my favorite Mamamoo songs and it is an absolutely powerhouse song when they perform it live (I recommend you to watch their mcountdown stage for it).
