I rarely watch your stream because timezones difference, but i appreciate that you upload it to YT because seeing you play make me remember when I'm learning the game 10 years ago. Thanks Grubby!
you're micro level are on God tier!!!! goodness. that's the WC3 world champ!! good to see you playing all the hardest heroes 1 at a time. Also sunsfan ( a long time dota 2 content creator did just said on his stream that you're one of the newest Streamers that has inspired him to play dota 2 and look at it on a new perspective) is a having fun watching you which is soooooo coool!
It's really cool to watch someone who is learning _and_ also already pretty good. Not to mention the positivite vibes. I don't even play dota and I had never heard of you but I've been watching a lot of these videos.
I dont know if Chat told you but you can think of inventory slots as a resource too Every Hero has a max 6 item slots, 7 including neutral item, so the high cost is basically you spending gold to free up an inventory slot for more items. An example for this game was when you combined Mechanism(the AOE healing item) + Arcane boots(the give my friends mana item). Or Vladimirs Offering which is an aura item that combines an item that gives mana regen aura, armour aura and upgrades you personal lifesteal into an aura. I've enjoyed watching you play these games and learning about the items and the way your eyes light up. Thank you for uploading the games to RU-vid! GG Big G.
Chen is a great hero, I main him. In most lanes you do take the first range creep, you do lose EXP and eventually give it to opponents in most cases, however range creeps have pierce and deal extra damage to creeps. So you are usually able to deny half of the waves until opponents can effectively nuke for last hits. This concept of using range creep to deny is extremely important for all Chen players until lv3. Chen is strongest in the early game and his mid game impact is hugely reliant on early towers and farm/teamfight. I'm glad to see you enjoying him.
@@hiccupteacup5914 yea, you can take aura lv1 in lanes where you won't be able to deny at all, making the creep not worth it AND also with 0 kill potential in the lane (your carry is PA or void for instance) . Lets say something like Tiny/CM, Enigma/most strong supports or Lesh/CM where they can just nuke every creep and will be looking to trade and kill you.
2500 hours into Dota 2 and honestly im not capable or comfortable playing micro heroes but i can say your micro skill is absolutely goat. Then again its come from WC3 legends himself so I'm not really surprised.
That was insane. Mvp was luna but you were the most impactful in this game for sure. Pressuring the side lanes all the time, farming jg, perfect timing on heals. 10/10
I think what that dono said rings true. It's good to have someone like Grubby with his positive attitude in the Dota community. Seeing someone enjoy the game in such a pure way and taking everything in stride is so refreshing to see and is honestly rather inspiring for myself as well. Awesome content.
Your patience for the neverending onslaught of backseat gaming is admirable! Great series that found its way on my recommendations. Looking forward to more
actually one of the most wholesome dota 2 players Ive seen, and as someone who's played dota for a couple of years, I never write "wholesome" and dota 2 in the same sentence
You're insanely good at Chen for first time playing him! The only thing that you lacked in this match was putting wards on the map as a support. Other than that you're awesome at his mechanics and tech. ROAD TO IMMORTAL GRUBBY!!
I'm a chen spammer and I'm so excited for this. Chen is a god in the first 15 mins of the game. One large creep at level 7 can basically solo supports in the right matchups. Don't feel bad for taking creeps from carries even, it's worth more to you in your critical period than it is to the carry.
This is my favorite one yet. I've like skimmed through some of these and watched like 1 or 2 fully, but the courier snipe has me sold that this is my favorite one so far. Loving the dota content.
I think if you play with a friend at these games who knows the game but not necessarily a pro might also be great, learing team play and characters maybe. Chen is changed a lot this version looks great and as we all know very micro intensive and you need to make good choices at certain times like which creeps to collect and where to go/ what to do. You used to get Chen two more items to have obscene amount of creeps :D One is Helm of the Dominator/ Overlord and the other was Necronomicon (now it is changed into Book of the Dead if I am not mistaken ! :) Keep up the series. This is fun you are becoming great in no time !
Been waiting for this, your micro was amazing. There's so much to learn with Chen, all the neutrals have such a massive amount of combinations and depth. I really hope you upload more Chen games if you end up playing it when your next a-z hero gets banned or whatever! This was wonderful to watch.
Holy balls Batman! You are insane at Chen. Just using separate control groups for the different creeps and cycling through all those spells. Amazing job, man
Grubby played that so incredible! His first game ever on Chen and he is top 10% Chen players incredible spilt push and use of creep spells. Not to mention his heals in team fights. Great job Grubby that was really fun to see
God damn, this was what i was waiting for, since seeing the Grubster getting into Doto. WC3 World Champ Micro owns as hard as one would expect - insanely well done, sir! Thanks for the upload
I just saw Sunsfan talk about your stream on a podcast together with Synderen. Super positive feedback on you streaming. They are both veterans. Sunsfan is a Dota creator, commentator and tournament organizer, very chill guy as well. I hope I see you guys streams together some day.
Damn! First time playing Chen and already better micro than 90% of the Dota playerbase :D exactly what I expected from a WC3 world champ, but was still very excited for the Chen game :) Now looking forward even more to my most played all-time favourite - INVOKER (I have more than 500 games on Invo, if you need any tips let me know would love to help you, even if I am a bit rusty now) GL HF Grubs! :-)
This series has been so much fun, I can't wait to see what heroes you end up gravitating towards. So far it seems you've enjoyed most of the heroes but there's a few, like chen and brew, that I feel like you'll be especially potent as. I see a bright future
Definitely, hero that fits you well! I got 9K Hours of Dota 2, I look up, and I only play 5 Chen games. I've been always scared of playing multi-unit hero, the only one I tried to pick and master is maybe Arc Warden. but looking at your video makes me want to try Chen or any multi-unit hero that is not only illusion based.
Not sure how much you're reading RU-vid comments, but anyway... A tip for chen, meepo, nature prophet etc is that you go into options and choose a 'group' for them, for me example, I use mouse hotkey to change to all controlled units, then shift to swap between them (this is not ideal if you wanna go pro with a hero like that, but works alot better). You could also choose a hotkey for every specific 'hero' under your control. Well played! :)
Heyyyy! Just listened to the We Say Things podcast. Where they talked you up a bunch, and asked everyone to sub/follow you. Cheers and continue with having fun. :)
Seeing Grubby getting the microbe is pure awesomeness...I remember way back how he mocked DotA players or the game in general...if he was serious or just fooling around is of no importance now.The game got him and it got him good...and Grubby will do well in this game no doubt because of his great analytical mind, awareness and skill he got playing W3...
was a huge fan of you back in the wc3 days. also followed you when you started playing sc2 - glad to see you playing dota 2 - you're still a micro god! :)
I recently saw you on Dota 2 threads, I must say it's fun to watch your vids from a perspective of someone trying the game out. Thanks for doing this! Also, I found you reminding me always of Benedict Cumberbatch, can you do a Dr. Strange cosplay on your stream? lol
Honestly I don't really know what's going on in DotA 2. But in DotA 1 I used to get 3 creeps, then another 2-3 with Helm of Dominator, then necrobook and have a mid game army. It was funny asf
I had played dota for many years but stopped playing because of my jobs and getting tired of the toxic community. But watch you playing makes me remember all the good times I had with this game and want to play again, thanks grubby
I gotta say though. There's rarely a game where the team is really bad or where there isn't at least one guy in his team that plays incredibly well whenever I watch Grubby play DOTA. I wish people would babysit me or carry me half as well as he is in some games.
Grubby when i see some ur videos on youtube check ur stream on twitch i love it so much u learning this game so fast i can't wait see you against some pro player in immortal bracket , see your content play dota make me flash back when i start this game keep it up sir !
Grubby full micro 4 creeps and his hero AND reads chat AND follows their advice from time to time, yet some people still reminding him of the simple things he knows, like Dust and Wards....just unreal how top level he is and people still ride him.
*Fan:* OH cool Grubby is Playing Farseer! *Grubby:* No, no this is Chen. *Fan:* OH... Chen the Brew Master? *Grubby:* No, Chen is a Far Seer in Dota2 *Fan:* Chen is a Far Seer? Then Who is Brewmaster? *Grubby:* The Brewmaster is Brewmaster. *Fan:* Like Chen From HotS? *Grubby:* **Facepalm.**
La jugada de 8:53 con el courier, la jugada de matar con el pollo y tornado 21:02 y la del body block del 46:18 te muestran claramente como este genio usa el microcontrol a otro nivel... BEST PLAYS
you replied to my comment that the chen gameplay is coming, I was wondering when will it come while browsing through recommendation and here it is, what a timing
If you are playing for fun then okay but if you are playing for understanding them game then in Dota 2 usually players choose limited hero pool with same role so they can get so used to them after so many plays that they'll discover hidden mechanics in the game.
Its amazing how well a good wc3 player can translate over to dota 2. So many tiny number changes im wc3 makes a massive change and that translates even harder into dota 2.
Taking the range creep on the 1st wave is fine in most scenario as you can use it to deny your wave to balance it out, if I play as pos 4 Chen in certain match ups I can deny an entire wave with it if I'm lucky making it a very valuable trade off for the exp lost. 7.8k mmr here
as a guy who has 3k+ hour played(its not much compared to most player), i think your growth is simply fucking scary and dota is somewhat kinda easy to learn for high apm rts player.
Chen will probably end up in his top 3 played heros, calling it now. ****!!!!****!!!! YOU CAN HOLD CTRL TO SEND COMMANDS TO ALL YOUR UNITS. So you don't need one mass control group for just movement/attacking. Very important for heros that summon wards, like veno or shadow shaman. Minor thing but when blocking lanes you could just let one creep run free so it dies faster. Like it goes in front and tanks all the damage from the whole enemy wave. Gives you instant control of the lane.
i have played this game for 5000 hours and did not know that you could sacrifice the chen creeps to heal allies. it may be a new addition, but even so, it still shows how much there is to this game
