I love Bulba's way of seeing the patches. It's true that despite some heroes being meta and such, they can still be beaten. Also, surprised the OD-Omni patch wasn't mentioned. That one is stuck in my brain until now when those two are picked literally every single game.
We need a 'remember when' with the map environments. The map has changed to being more open these days where as before the map was full of condensed corridors made of cliff and trees. This needs investigated please P Flax
I love Bulba's enthusiasm about these broken patches, but he and his team definitely tunnel visioned in the main stage this TI straight to the airport.
Bulba was indeed the march of the machine pioneer on Tinker, I remember when it happened. Back then it was standard to play tinker as a "ganker", maxing rocket and laser and just killing people left and right with the high burst damage. Bulba chose to max march of the machine and kill ancients and farm the map which was very unconventional. The rest is history
LOLOL stop it man. for all we know you dont even know how to play dota. Maybe you are just one of those nerds who remembers all the memes the faculty the staff and most of the team members. YOU ARE THERE FOR THE ARCHIVE .
Funny enough, when I first started playing Tinker maxing March of Machines was the optimal tinker build and I was completely oblivious to it, I kept maxing Laser and Rocket every single game.
the best patch for me was the disney major patch, the drow ranger marksmanship can one shot any creeps including neutral creeps, the most contested hero that time. the level 6 drow will leave the lane and the 5 minutes later she got manta dragon lance and one component of aghanims
same, was the first patch I really remember because I was finally understanding what a meta was and why some picks were just better than others. troll sniper jugg running around with 30% move speed buff mask of madness is a thing of nightmares
I also missed that Sven Helm of Dominator lifesteal build back in the days too. When the ancient creeps are still near the mid tower at radiant. You rush helm then stack neuts by yourself when you farm that youll have fast SnY basically outfarming enemy carry, got lots of mmr with that strat. 🤣
I played jugg back then and build also domi. The thing will later become satanic, so it never a dead item. Converting creep and pinging every :52 to stack ancients. My stack count was very high back then when it was still showed in your profile
yea after that HoD change I stopped playing Sven. I had like 70+% WR at that time just stacking ancients and suddenly getting so much farm doing the stacks. But then they nerfed neutral creep gold and exp at some point as well and removed the lifesteal from domi :(
I remember the patch where huskar was pretty much unkillable if you just bought evasion as it stacked. Felt dirty but at the same time it felt so good.
holy crap I forgot about that. each of druids talents had an option to buff him or the bear and the ones for him literally made him sniper. that brings back some trauma since i mostly play 3 and 4 so I never played it myself but played against it so much...
They forgot the patch where you can equip multiple neutral items. You can literally comeback by just farming neutrals and equipping 4-5 of those items on your huskar
God I loved the patch where you just fought over picking Lesh, Lina, Gyro, and WW. Played in an 80% winrate 5 stack a little while back then. Didn't really have the motivation to keep up with them and there were some awkward things, but that patch was fun. God I miss pre 7.00 dota.
I remember the time when ward cliffs was still near nuetrals and you play mirana jungle lvl 1 leaping at that cliff farming freely. Even a hero like furion, medusa or any ranged hero as long as you do the ironwood branch trick. And By the time you show at the map you already got a big item and big level hahahahaha
Gosh I miss the overhaul patches. Yes, current approach is more new players friendly because they now have a chance to adapt to the game without being afraid that it suddenly changes beyond recognition (and I believe there's even statistics confirming that people leave the game when Valve releases big patches), but as an old player I really miss the feeling of the upcoming major shift, when everything changes so drastically it's basically a new game at this point.
Ok to any player fortunately enough to not play during the comeback patch be happy. Especially actual kids. I was in college and I had sometimes maybe am hour and every damn game we would try to play the game and then the comeback would happen. Aaargh.... I remember more rage dcs than actual thrown and there were many many throws. My mom used to scream through the door cause we were both in our bases playing hotpockets w8ing for the others to die either by running up our hg or by natural causes. I think that's the point where I picked up supporting cause I realized in lower brackets having a support at that crucial timing had real value. For like 2 r 3 games. I lost those games too cause sure it was early value but no damn way in hell could we do anything. Abondon and u loose even if ur team wins. And well dcs made the hg even worse. I remeber thinking I was a good carry at that point before starting to support just cause I was able to use the rubberband by farming for almost 25 mins. Now it seems like a long lost nightmare. Miserable dota in what was otherwise a cherisable college life.......
That patch literally made me quit dota as a regular player. I now come back every patch, play for about a month and just quite again. God I fucking hated it, it was so fucking demoralizing.
also abyssal on sniper in dota 1, when abyssal gave 100 damage. It was so broken, sniper owned carries purely based on damage as his attack speed gain per level was pretty good as well. No need to buy bkb on sniper, go full damage and satanic (dominator gave 20 damage and formed into satanic later, broken as well).
Remember when as a solo off lane Beast master you could farm the Dire Ancients from your tower. Just stacking and farming them with your Axes. That was my peak with Beast 🤣
remember when antimage aganim get block spell like miiror neutral tier 5 items and tinker has 0,75 sec rearm lv3 if u combine with arcane blink look like hard to cacth
