Sounds awesome! 509/292 right? My first car was a 74 Dodge Challenger that my dad gave me for my 17th birthday. Before I got my license at 18 I found a 71 Chrysler Newport and bought the 440/727 out of it, rebuilt them and put them in the Challenger. It had the same cam, a Weiand tunnel ram with 2 Holley 450 carbs, ported and polished heads, 3500 stall converter, 391 posi and a 150 shot of nitrous. It was a fun streetcar! And a hell of a first car! LOL! Anyways, sounds awesome! 😁
Wheels are American Racing wheels. I have 6” wide with 3.5” back spacing on the front and 8” with 4.5” back spacing on the rear. Just BFG tires up front and have Hoosier slicks on the back.
I need to know what is done and how it’s built up I’m 16 years old and I’m building a 440 for my 2001 dodge Dakota and I have no idea what I’m looking for for parts to build the engine I’m very well mechanically inclined and self taught and I’m just looking for some guidance and help
What’s up Bad rust. There’s many approaches to take, I personally like to keep it as affordable and simple as possible. Some buddies and I are doing Mopar engine builds. Look up #piggybankhorsepower to follow along all of us for some ideas. JustMoparJoe is probably the furthest along and has several engine build videos. The short answer, cam, headers, intake for a fun street brawler.
Iron heads? And how far bored or is it still std 440? I have a 69 RR project that’s on hold but I built my 440 rv motor (had 6 pack bottom end) bored 30 over and low dome pistons with the 346 heads I have a offenhauser 6 pack intake for it and the 3 Holley carbs the cam is a Howard’s Big daddy rattler hydraulic flat tappet cam.
It has aluminum Mopar heads. They’re basically Edelbrock RPM closed chamber heads. .030 over. 9.5:1 compression. You’re 440 should be a monster. Sounds like a good package.
@@JonnyMoparhey thank you for getting back with me your charger sounds great if I get the extra money between now and the time we finish the car I might get a set of aluminum heads for it. Also my cam is 728081-09 507/495 lift the duration @ 50 is 297/305 lobe separation is 109 intake centerline 103 And to think this project started out as oh I’ll build it back stock and progressed to this cause why hell for a extra 20-30 bucks I could get a meaner whatever part oh well 440 it is
Comp still makes it as a Nostalgia Vintage cam. It’s on Summit Racing if you truly Comp cams. Lots of people don’t. Mine is an old Mopar purple shaft cam when they still sold them. They don’t sell them anymore.
