Ey up from yorkshire. Very cool! Can I ask please John. ... do you just mix a huge batch of the base and divide into 100g little batches...then add your different colourants to each one. Or do you mix less of the base. .and add say 1 per cent chrome or whatever, d it your tile, then add another 1 percent then dip next tile etc etc... but then it's not a perfect amount. If you get me? What I'm really wondering is..how to reduce the left over materials. ..what do you do with all your left over stuff? I know some people mix it all up together and and nd materials to alter the chemistry...but then you've no idea how to recreate that glaze in future... Help! Love your videos.
Very lovely glazes. Apart from the pink-spotted ones, I particularly loved lovely effects in the 8.0 and 9.0% rutile tiles, , and the beautiful colour of the 1.5 chrome tile. Am I right to think that the pink spots on the blue are due to the interaction between the Co and the talc?
Not really but go on the Facebook Group...Exploring Midrange Glazes Together with John Britts book ...and either search or ask a question. Someone will have tried them . 15,000 potters
I have been using Randy's base with 2% as part of combination of glazes over SCM cool for a couple years, I'm getting that spotty pink purple look. I spray and use ash or juicy fruit on top. works really good!
Great vid John! This is great stuff. Not sure I'm gonna run off and do 75 tiles but am going to whip up 200g of one or two of those and put on some pots.
John, great video and I enjoy your book. Can you clarify the recipe of Randy's red? Your recipe in this video does not add up to 100%, (102.2%), and differs from the Randy's Red recipe on page 88 in your book, "Mid Range Glazes".
Fantastic! Knocked it out of the park gain!!! Just one question, is thezircopax 8, the base? And than 6 cobalt added? Or is 6 cobalt the base and the zircopax was side bar test?
