That is not an Okinawan purple yam. It's a regular purple potato. The Okinawan version is off-white on the outside but purple on the inside. I've been eating them for 6 months now. My local Asian grocery has a ton of them.
Yea and the white outside/purple inside (Okinawa) more expensive at our Asian grocery (7$/lb) than purple inside & out stokes (7.99$ for 3lb). The natures beauty r 5$/3lb but I think they’re white inside, I want purple inside & out like stokes.
These potatoes are in many parts of the world. The japanese peolle who live a long life are people who work very hard from morning till night who eat maybe once or twice a day, not like americans who eat non stop.
I am indigenous Montagnard Jarai Bahanar … Central highland today Centtal highland controlled by Vietnamese Vietnam, I love purple sweet purple also yam is my favorite
@@YourpainRx I just boiled the potatoes until soft. Mashed them, added coconut milk and honey and a little butter. Adding heavy whipping cream or milk is delicious too. Blueberries, bananas and granola in it is also good. You can add any fruit you want. It makes a great breakfast or dessert or midnight snack.
You don 't need seed to plant sweet potatoes, just buy a few potatoes and leave them there in the cool place for a few weeks (i just leave on the kitchen counter ), until they will sprout, then you can plant them, very easy, good luck!
Sorry to hear about your condition. It's important to consult with your doctor or nutritionist about any specific dietary changes. While purple potatoes do have health benefits and a slightly different nutrient profile than regular potatoes, they still contain carbohydrates. So, You Should not, Always prioritize your health and safety first! 👍
Potatoes are members of nightshade family, like tomatoes, eggplants, and okra. Sweet potatoes are members of the morning glory family, and VERY different from the nightshade family. You should still check with your medical professional about this, but preferably one who specializes in nutrition. Type two diabetes is no joke. My father died of the complications of his diabetes, and too many people dig their graves with a fork and a spoon.
@@vickisavage8929 sweet potatoes are not nightshades they are a type of Yam called Dioscorea alata. Same family as the purple tuber called Ube. People refer to them as potatoes but it's not what they are.
