Making a push pull version... witch is a dumb and confusing name but thats how people know these... anyhow something i want to compare to the dual membrane drivers.. see how much we gain. in this part i apply the magnets and put both halves together !

Try electrolysis, where the anode is a damp cloth soaked in a conductive salt water and vinegar solution. Clip the other terminal (cathode) to the far end. It's the same technique use to etch metal. Welders sometimes use it to clean before and after welding. You can use a regulated power supply, an old phone charger, a 9v battery, etc. It doesn't take much current to work effectively. It should easily remove the surface layer contamination. Just don't stay in one place for too long. Wear a respirator, and use a fan... some metals release some really nasty gases or other byproducts. Never try it with anything galvanized or chromed.

I use a bath of isopropyl alcohol to clean my grills before paint. I know they are like a cheese grater on the towel and like to shred everything

Nice ! Just a thought: The magnet forces may (?) make the grid form a tiny "pregnant belly" at the middle area. If so, what about stiffen the grid by crossbars ?
@joppepeelen
@joppepeelen Месяц назад
The belly is beneficial in this case. since where it becomes a belly is also where the mylar has the biggest excursion. by doing this you can decrease distance mylar to magnet, and still have the same xmax where it matters (in the middle)

You’re just gonna have to spend some time finishing that steel step one I would be to chamfer all the holes, you could do this really quickly with just a hand drill. If you don’t have the bit, you could just use a large drillbit that would take away all the roughness around the holes next use a file on the edges then further process the plate with a sander degrease and paint would give you a nice finished product imo

Best degreaser is brake cleaner first and finish with pharmaceutical grade acetone

Neos my guess is each magnet would probably be $100 +
@joppepeelen
@joppepeelen 2 месяца назад
well, if they where they would have been a bit cheaper then that. but neos would be more expensive compared to these indeed ! :) and these have some benfits. they are weaker but there field remains stronger over a greater distance then most affordable neos. interesting when using a larger xmax. without breaking the bank
@ladronsiman1471

why not use smaller neodymium magnets
@joppepeelen
@joppepeelen 2 месяца назад
price, and a problem with neos is there field is insane strong near the magnet. great for tweeters and things with small Xmax.. a ferite magnet with slightly lower costs like these have a higher field at a greater distance then a N35 small neodymium magnet. (the foil is 6 mm away from the magnets, so pretty large xmax) of course you can do this with neos , but it becomes really costly, fast.

Hey brother , use a soft copper hel ri with the brake parts cleaner , fast and easy

Try putting a couple of cabinet knobs on the jig so you can pull it up from the magnets easily and evenly 🤙
