Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to send what he is describing as "peacekeeping troops" into the separatist regions of Luhansk and Donetsk. The decision comes after Putin recognized both regions as independent states and described Ukraine as ancient Russian territory. The move could mark a significant escalation amid fears Russia could soon launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Sad but true. The Anglo Sphere really screwed this one up! Impact? Putin has “brilliantly” (geopolitically) turned the sanctions and loss of Nord Stream back on Germany, EU, US. People, industries, economies will suffer for years to come. Ukraine is dying a slow death anyway as everyone, it’s wealth, and all of the so called Western supporters who pushed them it start this HAVE LEFT THE COUNTRY - along with politicians, government officers, etc. Hn the lease ends on the RU pipeline in several years or sooner, the UKR economy will completely collapse. Putin does not Ned to invade, jut it back let them collapse!

Yup, probably the plan all along. Positioning all troops around Ukraine = "Fight in these parts, and we'll just take all of Ukraine." Interestingly, it also checks the West as we may have overplayed our hand - We threatened sanctions on ANY incursion with the consideration that it looked from the amassed troops that all of Ukraine would be invaded rather than a small 5-10% chunk. The sanctions are, of course, still justified, fortunately we never fully elaborated on the extent of what those sanctions would be. But this is an incrementalist Putin testing boundaries additively.

Germany really ought to be worried about its future energy supply because in its heart, it wants more affordable Russian gas, but now there’s even more pressure from its master to not use Russian gas. Expect more problems with German economy. DW however seems to want to focus on other countries’ problems, rather than its own. Moldova was a piece of Romania, taken by Soviet Russia. Romania should take its piece back. If Moldova claims it is an independent country, although its just a Romanian region, then Transnistria and other regions have the same right to be independent. I see no difference.

Russia reclaimed nothing, he simply reminded Ukraine of where they come from with tha history lesson. Now, the people of those separatist republics do NOT want to join NATO and demanded autonomy. Ukraine agreed to it in the Minsk agreement but is being pressured to not honor it. Ukraine is cutting its own nose to spite its face. What Putin did is enforce the agreement because the others were dragging their feet intending to change the reality on the ground. He beat them to the punch. These propagandists will never tell it like it is.

Meh, I'm Russian. The whole thing is about defending the people of Donbas who've been dying in civil war for 8 years. 15 thousand people died in total and 90% of them were from Donbas. The Minsk agreement was signed 7 years ago, Ukraine didn't do anything to stop the war in 7 years, and yet you blame Russia. If the whole world is against us, so be it. When NATO recognized Kosovo the same way, people didn't argue.

Do not think NATO and USA can take on Russia. USA needs to take step to help in the unification of Chinese Taiwan with China. This can give NATO and US a way out to confront Russia.
