'Putin complains about being "cancelled" like Rowling for invading Ukraine' sounds like an Onion headline. I wonder if Putin's framing of this around cancel culture is to appeal to conservatives in the West because the invasion is not going well and he already has support from the American right.

I just have to laugh at how someone can have the currently most-hated person in the world come out to support you and you just sit there like "Hm yeah, nothing for me to self-reflect on here!". Like, you'd at least bother to really, really question the things you believe in if that happens. That is, if you are a decent person. Knowing everything that's come out of that hateful waste of oxygen known as Rowling though, I'm not surprised she would just chug along.

JKR boosted a tweet by a supposed detransitioner, who claimed to have had an elective full mastectomy at the age of sixteen (16!) after only a handful of therapy appointments and is now devastated because she cannot afford breast reconstruction surgery and must now spend her life as a breastless woman. Cue JKR posting broken heart emoji.

I’ll never understand why being against trans people is the hill some people choose to die on? Ive always tried to understand someone’s viewpoint when it comes to them being upset about something, but when it comes to someone being upset over someone else existing, I’m just left scratching my head. Like, why? How?🤯

JK doesn't understand that not only her rhetoric, but her worldview aligns with reactionary movements. Now, I personally believe that all of us have a little bit of a reactionary inside us, but it's when we allow it to become the focus of our worldview, as JK increasingly has, that we get in trouble.

"Men pretending to be girls..." Not the most important point in this discussion, but the apparent instinctive need of conservatives to call men "men" and women "girls" does not do them any favours lmao.
