Went through about 10-15 putters within the last year, and the marvel has just stuck in the slot of comfort for me. Nothing really feels as good as it does in my hand. Definitely cool to see you putting with the same!

I completely understand the switch back to straddle. I did the same this off season because it feels more natural and comfortable. Plus I still do it all the time at the courses around Portland anyway when I have objects in my way. The only thing that I noticed with the change was the lack of power you can generate with your legs inside the circle. C2 putts improved drastically.

Put spray-foam insulation in the poles on that basket. You can also cut and wrap an old bicycle tube around the outside of the pole, just make sure the chain ring has room to slide up and down.

Use a piece of foam pipe insulation… just expect more bounce outs when you hit the foam.

I did this exact same thing and in the end, the discs didn’t even matter. Switching from inline to straddle putting is what helped me the most haha.

Birdie is semi-local to me and Derek is awesome. When these came out I grabbed a pair of the protos. While I ended up going back to my other putters mostly due to the amount I already owned, the Marvel was an absolutely awesome disc. I love the way it feels and the plastic is amazing.

Premium blend marvel is a great throwing putter too. I have 5 marvels. With more on the way. I love the feel of the plastic and the beveled edge. I used the pure too for a while and its to prone to being taken away by the wind.

I wrapped the two bottom chain rings in 1/4 inch braided split sleeving cable protector (Alex Tech brand on Amazon) along with the MVP Silencer and it makes a big difference over the Silencer alone.

I tend to like the bead! My index finger really sets on the bead and I use the groove the bead creates! I putted last year, which was my first full year of playing, with the nomads. I’ve since switched to Pa3s 300 plastic! Such a great grip and feel for me and my putting grip

I putt with the soft marvel! Such a great putter fits the hand nice has enough glide without being too glidey has just enough stability. Its the most confident i have been with a putter and i have tried to force other putters in because i like the brand or the player but i keep going back to the marvel! So halfway through last season i said thats it i am sticking with the marvel!!!!!

Its amazing how you break things down in a relatable way. Im on the same track as your are with putting and my results are not very consistent. So far Im really liking the fission envy. One is lightweight at 154g and the other 172g. Thanks for the great content its made my game better for sure.

Watched the Eric Oakley building the bag when he recommended the Alpaca. I tried and loved them. Been putting so much better. Was happy to see you came out with a similar video. Unfortunately you knocked out my Alpacas immediately. 😄 I get it though everyone has different taste and like different feels. I love these style videos they’re very educational. Keep up the good work and good luck on the pro tour man. Im rooting for you. 💪 And as soon as you put your stamp on a disc I use I’ll be all over it brother. Awesome man! I was the one who mentioned that Marvels are only .1cm deeper than Logics. They are great in my hand too. Right now I’m just trying to figure out if I want the tip of my pinkie in the corner or out under the plate a little bit. Good luck at Waco!

I've been putting with pures for 2 years now. When i've flirted with other putters the logick has felt really good and similar. It is more stable and fights the wind better. Haven't changed though. Good luck!

Good video. I went through this at the end of last year into just this month. I putted with stiff wizards for years but getting the right blend of plastic is a crap shoot. You can go through 20 of the same plast8c and 2 of them will actually be the same. So I statted switching up. Tried going back to a Focus but it was just too glidey and straight. Tried PA-3# and love the feel but they got to the basket too fast for my putt. Tried the Marvel and it was too shallow but awesome for.throwing. Went to the Clash Fudge and fell in love. Checked the specs on Infinite and its one mm more shallow than a Wiz and one mm wider than a Wiz. Flied almost the exact same. Keep it up!

Do you factor in how a disc reacts from a missed putt? Like it rolling away more often or sticking to the ground after a spit out or miss.

I had used Links for the past 2 years and felt like I needed a change so I just changed to the Fudge from Clash. I like a beaded putter because I set my index finger on the bead instead of under the disc.

Now that I've had a chance to putt with the Pixel, I feel it is the closest "baby" of a Birdie Marvel and a Prodigy Pa3. It's great, but found it to be more like the Pa3 for me and be better for throwing than putting! I'm sticking with my Marvels

Old favorite is the Westside, Swan Reborn in Mega Soft. Newer favorite is the Sacred Discs, Gnome in Aroma!

I putted with pures all last year. Felt great and had the same issues from c2 as they were just a tad to understable. This year I moved to the pa3 and love them. What advice can you give on straddle putting? I'm ok but would like to build more confidence with it as it is needed on occasion. Also the beast is a great course. Can get really windy at times and in the woods definitely want to stay in the fairway as it is thick. Best of luck to you at WACO.

Funny how much the bead effects the feel in you hand. I love the bead to have something to grip on. I find the nobeaded putter slips out of my hand. It is such a personal preference.

Yeah I found out that tendon think also. Lucky I only threw 160 straight puts so didn’t hurt it too bad. Limit my putting practice to 100 at a time.

I think a big reason you are able to improve so fast is that you are pretty honest with yourself and good at self evaluation. I've been playing for 3-4 years and I often have the thought that this disc I'm throwing really doesn't matter too much, what matters most is " do I make a good throw". Until you are well over 1000 rated the discs just don't matter too much because you are not consistent enough. I mean how often do you have a bad shot but the disc is just so good it ends up being a good shot. Doesn't happen.

When you made the tendon comment I wasn’t surprised. I realize you are in spectacular shape for the sport, but multiple 1000s of putts per week runs risk of repetitive stress injury! On the other hand - this approach does seem scientific because the sample size is large enough that it probably does isolate the cleanest releasing putter for your style and anatomy. We all want to see you succeed, so stay healthy and be careful out there.

I have never been happy with my putters. So I recently went to my local shop and just felt every putter they had. I ended up debating between the popcorn and the envy. I ended up with the envy it just felt right in my hand. Since then my putting has greatly improved.

Next time you are practicing, try putting your left foot forward for inline putts. It has helped me putt much straighter.

Massage initially can increase the inflammation as the blood flow to the affected area increases, but ultimately will bring more nutrients and healing benefits to the area, speeding up recovery. So yeah, the massage probably made it feel worse, but the increased blood flow is a good thing. Tendons suck to heal because they don’t get enough nutritious blood-flow. Maybe combine the massage with extra water and ibuprofen.

Try the Fudge from Clash. It must be pretty newly released. It's eerily close to a Wizard as far as I can tell.

Emac judge and OG beaded judges are great! Something with the glide and predictable fade it has gives me confidence for c2 hyzers or straight up and down putts and annie. I think the judge is a better pure with more stability and tad less speed. re try judges maybe. i bought a dagger to see if the 2501 was real and still can control the judge better because i dont have to give my putters as much height to get the dagger to actually fly.

yeah I'm a Pure lover but it has evolved into purely approach / mid-range for me, it's just way too flippy and gets bullied by wind way too much for putting. If you REALLY love it, please try the Hope from Lat64 instead, it's basically just a more overstable pure without the annoying dome on the new runs of Pure. Hope grippy Royal (not Grand) plastic is also *chef's kiss*.

Bro, I suggest buying a foam pipe insulation tube from Home Depot and putting that on the pole inside the indoor basket. It deadens the sound significantly and it doesn't cost much. Shoutout, Birdie! Crush it in Waco, bro.

Maybe I’m completely wrong but when you said you were using your index finger for spin, alarm bells went off in my head. As I understand your fingers deeper in the disc should be creating the spin as they have more leverage and can be tucked in more to generate more spin. My index finger stays outside of the disc (on the bead) to stabilize and control nose angle. I get why you wouldn’t like beads if your index is doing the spinning.. but I think you’re alone on that. 🤷‍♀️

Why does no one talk about Prodigy putters (unless I'm dumb and you did)? Pa's never seem to be in the conversation of good putters. In fact, people don't seem to like Prodigy a whole lot it seems. I've always putted with the Pa-3 since I started disc golf a few years ago, just because a friend gave me a few for free. Never tried putting with anything else, I'm wondering if there is something way better for me.

You are talking about a signature disc. Gateway will make you what you want in the plastic you want even if they don't have exactly the plastic you want they can change blends and make you a special blend

I would say use both putting stances. There are situations that call for one more than the other. Just be comfortable in the moment, dont think, and sink the putts bud. You got this

Marvel makes sense for you. Slightly stable, slightly deeper than the pure, and beadless. I think you made a good choice. For those with carpal tunnel like me or small hands I’ll continue to push 1.3 cm or shallower rim depth like a tomb, pure, logic, or even a zone. Anything deeper and I can’t release clean.

My brother in law plays disc golf barefoot. He buys all his discs used. He knows flight numbers but he just throws whatever he feels. I, on the other hand, think part of the fun is buying new discs and researching a ton, but sometimes I feel like I'm spending too much, or thinking too hard about it all...but then I watch your videos and it totally makes me feel better about myself ❤

I have just started the process of looking for a new putting putter before the 2024 season fully kicks off. The one that has me the most intrigued is the Mint Discs Lasso. I really hope Mint releases them in Royal plastic soon but for now I am using the Eternal Soft Flex plastic. I like the gummy feeling so it's similar to the tacky feel of the Royal plastic. I really like the feel of it and it's the first beadless putter that I've liked putting with since the Dart that I used when I first started playing.
