This is the extended PYL theme used when they play the extended roll credits. At the end of the main theme, they basically vamp it back into the 2nd half of the opening theme. Enjoy!
Peter Tomarken was the perfect guy to host the show. A true gentleman, philanthropic by flying cancer patients to their treatments aboard his private plane (which unfortunately we all know happened, and they said if he wore his seatbelt he would have lived), a wonderful Father who brought his twin daughters out for the Christmas 1985 episode and they were a part of the intro, and he was a goofball. When Robert lost $30,518 on that last crummy spin, he pretended that he fainted, got a call from the late Mel Blanc, walked up to the board for a cloth, the crazy Halloween dance shrieking on Halloween, and who else can pull off hosting an episode in your pajamas and bathrobe? Fact: He did host Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck for pilot test episodes before they brought Newton in.
MAN!!!! I am a pharmacy tech, and by absolute coincidence, I met the late Peter Tomarken's great niece a while back. She said she never got to meet him but is related to him.
I can't believe it's going to be 5 years already on the 13th that we lost our lovable Peter Tomarken. We will always miss you Peter (12/7/1942-3/13/2006) R.I.P and enjoy it up there, the whammies won't hurt you, so keep on pressing.
here is a unique but true fact, when johnny olsen passed away and rod roddy took over on the price is right, they were going to build him a new dressing room. rod roddy told them not to touch the dressing room and he would squeeze into the place where rod used in honor of johnny. two class acts back to back!
I can't believe that tomorrow, Peter Tomarken would have been 70 years old. We miss everyday Peter, it hasn't been the same, you will always be a legend hosting the most competitive game show in history. I would say that if it wasn't cancelled in 9/1986 it would have lasted till at least 1992 or even still be on today.

As a figure skater, I want to do a routine to one (or ALL) of the following themes(in NO particular order): 1. Press Your Luck 2. Blockbusters UK (Holness) 3. Card Sharks (Perry) 4. Hollywood Squares (Davidson) :D
Press Your Luck will forever be known as one of THE Best Game Shows of all time This show debut along w/4 shows all produced by Ruby-Spears: Saturday Supercade, Mr. T, Rubik The Amazing Cube and Alvin and the Chipmunks plus, Van Halen made us Jump and we did God Bless everyone who made Press Your Luck a success and Thank You Bill Carrutherers, Rod Roddy and Peter Tomarken for what you've done May you all R.I.P. and R.I.P. Michael Larson When it comes to PYL, Peter is Da Man over Todd Newton
Today, these three players are after Big Bucks, but theyll have to avoid the Whammy as they play the most exciting game of their lives. From Television City in Hollywood, its time to Press Your Luck! And now, heres your host, the star of Press Your Luck, Peter Tomarken!
Until next time this is Peter Tomarken Saying, Thanks for pressing your luck! Bye bye! This is Rod Roddy speaking for Press Your Luck, a curruthers company presentation.
We fans of Press Your Luck want this game show to come back to CBS. This was one of the most popular game shows on CBS during its run from 1983 to 1986. That newer one on Game Show Network (or GSN) is nothing compare to this. Since CBS still has the copyrights to this classic version of Press Your Luck, I think the current owners of the CBS Network should be aware that game show lovers would watch this constantly if it were to air again on CBS.
Maybe if Peter Tomarken was alive and wanted to come back for it. Reboots are all the rage lately but when the stuff in new formats and cheesy hosts it doesn't seem to work.
@@EC4U2C_Studioz Yes, and unlike the horrible "Whammy" it looks like ABC's actually taking care to preserve the original look and feel of PYL! And Elizabeth Banks has to be better than the doofus who hosted the retooled version for GSN. I wish my mom were still alive to enjoy it because that was her favorite game show of all time.
Yes, RCPlanes59 !, Rod Roddy did annouce for Press Your Luck and Peter Tomarken was the host of Press Your Luck !!! Hearing this music makes me miss Rod and Peter SOO Much More. They are 2 of My ALL TIME Favorites. ~ Dwight
Tonight these players are after Big Bucks, but they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives, from Television City in Hollywood, it's time to Press Your Luck, and now here's the star of Press Your Luck...Elizabeth Banks! "This is what the intro would sound like on the revival that's coming on June 12 on ABC"
I still found it pretty weird. When I was a kid, I loved PYL... still love the original now... but, I found out about 6 months ago that Peter Tomarkin was born about an hour from where I live now... strange coincidence.
i grew up watching PYL and I called the last round the heartattack round. And I love the wammies and hoping for them to lose so we can see all thee wammies lol. thankes for finding this
Beautiful Job, and now I know where that part of the theme came from, if you search T.Q.'s gameshow theme site and look into press your luck, that extension part is the beginning of the unused open, NOT TO SAY THIS IS FAKE, I'm just saying thats where they got use out of the unused intro.
I agree completly. The only way a home console game would work is if they gave you every exact thing you remembered from the show. If there was some way to get audio clips from Rod Roddy and Peter Tomarken then and just maybe then would that game be worthy
Rod Roddy: "These three players are after big bucks, but they'll have to avoid the Whammy as they play the most exciting game of their lives! From Television City in Hollywood, it's time to Press Your Luck!!!" RIP Rod.
@@JoeyLamontagne same! I definitely remember this being my mom's favorite game show and my watching it with her whenever she took time off work during my summer vacations when I was in elementary/primary school.
If Press Your Luck Comes Back to CBS Here is the closing Spiel For It This Is Burton Richardson Speaking For Press Your Luck, A Carruthers Company/Margot Robbie Presentation. PS my brother Grigor Bailey would Host the CBS revival of Press Your Luck.
Today, these three players are after BIG BUCKS! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy as they play the most exciting game of their lives. From Television City in Hollywood, it's time to "PRESS YOUR LUCK!" And here's your host, the star of "Press Your Luck..." Peter Tomarken!
Great job on the vamp to the 2nd half of the opening theme. That is so difficult to do because of the numerous thumps used right after the first loop ends. How'd you do that so well?
what is wrong with GSN. U take Press your luck off the schedule, Card Sharks is gone and Lets make a deal isnt on the daytime line up on weekdays. They should protest
I don't wanna knock it, but I don't think the whole formula of Press Your Luck works well for a console game. I think a lot of people emjoy the atmosphere of the audience yelling pass or play and Peter Tomarken's play by play commentary. That and the fact that on the console you can't really win any money from it sorta neuters it, considering it's a game where you literally only have 2 options to decide. Of course, maybe something good'll happen for the show's legacy to continue from this.
Press Your Luck Theme (1983) on GSN From (1998/2004) CBS First September 19 1983 Before Whammy the All New Press Your Luck April 2002 on Game Show Network Say Bye 2008 & Hello 2009
im sorry, i lost this version when i transferred my files onto a new computer. but theres still a way for you to get this theme. just find a video to mp3 converter and youre all set
CBS needs to bring this show back, Rich Fields would make a great announcer "he did pretty good on Game Show Marathon", but have Todd Newton host this, Todd did Whammy, he'd be great for the new Press Your Luck. "Update the show got revived on ABC's summer fun and games"
+cutemimi25 or, in a nod to the original, have George Grey from TPIR do the announcing, just like how Rod Roddy used to pull double duty back in the day (may both he and Peter Tomarken rest in peace)
I know GSN brought it back for a while, but it was a bit too glitzy and 2000s-ish IMO. I'd love to see the CBS do it in a way that's more true to the original, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do.
PHOEBE'S BOSS TRYNA SELL THAT TONER. THE INTERN MAKING CHANDLER FEEL OLDER. JEFF GOLDBLUM'S CASTING LADY. THE NURSE AT THE HOSPITAL WITH RACHEL'S BABY.
Jon McCaleb it looks more like late 1984 to pre-late 1985 ish. By late 1985 until the series' end, Peter's hair began resembling his Jerry Seinfeld-like do from his later shows like Wipeout and the slides behind Peter and Rod look more like the worn-out color slides from late 1984 to the pre-Fall 1985 ones.
The screenshots were fine up until the pic with Peter and Todd Newton on the board. I am sorry but Todd Newton is a sorry host on every game show he has been on and everyone knows Peter Tomarken should have been host of Whammy.
I had friends in the studio audience, and they all stated she did a fantastic job. We are barely two episodes in, and you already passed judgement on her. SMH
