If you have trail cameras on public land and your using Python Cable locks your getting screwed. $15-$20 to lock up one camera.
I had around 10 Python locks but lost the keys earlier this year. I didn’t want to buy all 10 new ones for $150+ so I looking into better ways to lock up trail cams on public land. Turns out loosing those keys was a blessing in disguise. After watching multiple DIY videos I found this to be the best metho. I have a link to the original video that I got this idea from. I just wanted to share it with more people.

OK, you gotta great plan here, but you should realize, the first step in the bad guys stealing one of these cameras is SEEING it. Your nylon straps plus the shiny wire rope cable give the thieves a 360 degree viewpoint of that camera. I’d suggest ditching the strap entirely (just use a bungee cord to hold it on there temporarily while you’re rigging it up, then remove the bungee when you’re done), and consider either spray painting your wire rope in flat dark earth OR just wrapping it in camo gun tape or camo gaffer’s tape. A meth head looking to steal shit always has a battery sawzall on him, remember that!! The best anti-theft deterrent is HIDING the thing from the thief!!! Good luck brother. Nice work.
