Beautiful suit! Not sure if this is the right forum to ask, but I was wondering if the size of the armhole is an adjustable option on your made to measure offerings. I am quite slim and a high armhole is something that I would like to have on my jackets but struggle to find.

Hi, general question on styling and tailoring: I inherited a wool single breasted long overcoat. It is a size 48 and I am closer to a 44 (46 is a little big 44 a little tight). I would like to keep the 48, is it possible to simply overlap the single breasted coat and add buttons and button holes to make it a double breasted ? Or would this be a faux paus because the shape and style of a doble breasted over coat is not the same as overlapping a single brested coat ? Thanks for any feedback.

I would advice against it. The lapel in a double breasted is usually a peak lapel, while in a single breasted is a notched lapel (there's nothing that says that a single or double coat inherently calls for a certain type of lapel, but convention makes the exception to this stand out), furthermore, the shape of the quarters and foreparts (the bottoms of the coat) Is very different, if you look at a single and double, you'll notice that the single has slightly curved quarters, while a double has straight quarters. The way the lapel rolls also changes, the way that coat hangs from the body also changes. In my opinion and someone who has made the alteration in the past, I would'nt go trough the trouble

@@desanctisapostata Thanks for the reply. Funny that you mentioned Lapels. My very first double breasted suit coat in college came from a local factory outlet store. It was double breasted and had a notched lapel. I loved it, was my only suit coat for a few years. After I graduated and had more money I wanted to buy more double breasted sport coats BUT everyone I have ever seen now has that horrible super wide lapel (like the gangster suits of the 1940s). Because I could never find a notched lapel double breasted again I switched to the 3 or 4 button suit coats, that are now unfortunately out of style. I have always wonderd if the one I bought was a test piece or mistake or something else, its the only one to date I have ever seen.
