I also use the same work sharp system. I purchased based in Eric’s recommendation and love it! Quick and ready to go! I use primary and secondary bevel and finish the edge with a leather strop stick, three strokes and done.

Good info as always. I do have to say, that was an awkward ending. As far as sharpening, I was interested in hand tool woodworking and I use Paul Sellers' method of sharpening by hand. I still need more practice to be as consistent as I'd like, but when I hit that edge, it definitely is pretty quick. I don't use secondary or tertiary bevels. I have been thinking about picking up the WS3000.

This came just in time as I’m now looking to move to a new sharpening system from scary sharp. Also, Primary, secondary, tertiary bevel?

Regarding mesquite for fretboard. Which species? The one I got from Tucson was way too soft, though a lovely red color. The mesquite from Texas (San Antonio) was much harder though not as pretty. Texas mesquite should be fine.
