Nick Schafer, designer of the Fix and former model, flew down to South Africa with Crusader Safaris to see how effective subsonic 8.6 BLK really is. His results were clear...
Cool seeing Nick and Mitch show the internal case dimension changes to get more consistent SD’s. Would be awesome to see the engineer boys back on the podcast to talk about designing the Fix, more hunting stories, etc.
Thats cool about the case capacity aluminum case but…i get single digit SD’s with a 350gr maker rex already so how much are these cases going to actually cost? How much of an improvement?
Really enjoy the hunt videos you guys are putting out. They are a WELCOMED transition from the heavy breathing, whispering and awkward excitement post shot videos found everywhere else.
No one cares about subsonic rounds when hunting. Especially hogs. They’re so scary they run at the sound of wind. So, you’re not going to shoot multiple hogs cuz your rifle was quiet.. And seriously, who even considers shooting hogs at 100 yds?? In general, hogs are taken in low brush @ under 25 yds whether in the US or Africa. At that distance there are MANY rounds available that have low recoil and great stopping power and, even more importantly, don’t cost 4 FREAKING DOLLARS A ROUND!!!
I for one appreciate not losing any more hearing than i already have. The only thing i don't understand, if you are limiting yourself to 1000fps, why not use something larger? Everything else being equal, the heavier bullet is going to have more energy. So why not something like a 458 socom with a 400gr or even larger?
