The showers of every prison I have seen from Canada to Germany they have always been horrible. I one made a sign for the shower that said please do not leave your kids at the pool 🤣🤣🤣
I was drinking a beer when I started this video. Yes Idk what I was thinking starting this video while drinking a beer. But after some of the descriptions in this video I just had to put that beer away.
Step One: Securely wrap bar of soap in washcloth making sure all four corners are around it in some way. Step Two: Wet the washcloth with the soap inside until a lather appears through the wash cloth. Step Three: Enjoy bathing without being paranoid about dropping the soap.

Since you had some female codefendants, would you say that female prison is not as bad as male prison? It seems to me, as someone with no prison experience, like the level of violence and therefore stress in men's prisons are far higher...
You still get gangs and various random violent criminals in womens prison, however from all ive seen the men seem more likely to just throw down if theres an issue and they seem to have stricter inmate enforced rules.
@@CAMSLAYER13 The few prison documentaries I've seen about women's prisons seem to have them all koom-by-yahing together and forming little make believe families with each other and talking out their differences (ad naseum). There are no shankings, or emergency helicopter rides to the hospital or any of that. Seems like a total joke to me. But I am willing to be convinced otherwise since I have no first hand knowledge of it...

@@jakeoneill1494 yup all military. it was a cake walk for the most part. everyone was terrified of losing their good time so there was very little fighting. only ppl that had it terrible were the child touchers. The things that sucked were you couldn't lay or sit on your bunk from morning to night something like 5am to 9pm if i remember right. I made time pass by working full days in the kitchen. you were only supposed to work half days but somehow they never noticed as long as i was there for count at work it didnt matter. So dont get me wrong it did suck bad but it was nothing like ive seen in regular state or federal prison. Then again levenworth might be worse the one I went to was in fort knox and there was only about 100 inmates as it was going to shut down soon. 16 inmate cells but we only had 8 in ours at first then they decided to close a wing so we were packed in full 16 people. 2 shitters 2 showers everyone respected you taking a shower no funny business.
Read online today an American family settled lawsuit for their young daughter dying in a Pennsylvanian jail after four days heroin withdrawals , they gave her diapers and water she couldn't hold down and died of dehydration. Police investigated but warden admitted he never bothered to even read report of failings and what went wrong.

I like how they call the departments that take care of prisons "departments of corrections"; nothing they do "corrects" a prisoner's ways. Just dehumanizes them in conditions akin to Nazi death camps or the Soviet gulags. On top how that, how is the death penalty a form of "correction"?

Having worked as a maintenance worker in my state's Department of Corrections at a release center (supposedly to help offenders near the end of their terms 'adjust' to life on the outside) I can honestly say, yes those showers can be horrible. The reason water goes hot/cold is that the demand is constantly and drastically changing which causes the hot water to divert to anyone showering upstream of the supply. A trick the prisoners liked to do was turn all the showers on to create steam-to cover up the smoke from cigarettes or whatever drugs they happened to have. Every time I repaired a sink I'd usually find a treasure trove of stashes tucked underneath. I really tried fixing things and listening to prisoners complaints for whatever wasn't working. The problem was so many incompetent maintenance managers and workers of the past had screwed things up so badly some things were beyond hope. (I made 24k starting out...they aren't looking for mechanical geniuses. The crap pay and at that time slashing of state worker benefits made me resign after 14 months.) Sometimes I felt more at ease with the prisoners than actual staff because some of my fellow co-workers were little more than smiling masks covering up the total backstabber underneath. By and large the offenders were generally decent guys that just made a mistake and it was always interesting hearing their backstories and histories along with how they ended up in the slammer. Some tragic, some funny as hell. I did feel complimented one day when an inmate told me I was the most decent one there. (Being maintenance instead of plain guard was a world of difference.) Sometimes I'd have to drive to a different facility for parts and I'd usually take a trustee to help. We weren't supposed to but I'd usually stop by a fast food joint and buy them lunch. They always enjoyed getting out for change of scenery.
@@shaunattwoodOFFICIAL Thanks Shaun. You have a great channel. One of the trustee maintenance workers we had was in for nearly 30 years. He definitely had that 'institutionalized' look to him (I call it the Manson stare) but he was one of our best workers and actually proved he was trustworthy. He was terrified of getting out because he told me his family was largely gone, his house, belongings, property, etc. He actually laid low and his PO and system forgot about him because he didn't want to leave. At a release center where you spend a year he'd been there for nearly five. You get shelter and a 3 square day as well as being released during the days and weekends on your own so it's not terribly bad.
Did it ever occur to anyone that the bloke who was made to shower every three hours, may have been 'baggy brown' (ie: too obese to reach in order to wipe himself, after going to the toilet) ?
