This makes me cry every time I hear it; to me it sounds like the souls of the dead crying to heaven. I have this soundtrack on a 33 and a third record.
Wow what a beautiful score. I wish (being an orchestral violinist and choral singer) that I could be involved in projects like this! We're playing cues from Star Wars at the moment and being in the middle of the music as it's being made is a phenomenal experience.
BRILLIANT AND SUPERB!!! BRAVO! Tadlow honors Jerry Goldsmith with their Always Outstanding re-recordings of his music. I believe he is truly in awe and appreciative of your wonderful work. Entire production team, Orchestra, Conductor, producers I salute you!
Are you sure you aren’t thinking of the track “Jadwiga Relived”? That was also a cue featuring choir on the original album, and it’s terrifying/haunting!
Just read an article in Smithsonian on medieval anti-Jewish monuments in some churches in Germany that are insulting and blasphemous to their faith. There is a German citizen, an older man, who converted to Judaism and is an activist in a campaign to get those ugly things removed. More power to him. It's a shame that humanity never seems to learn from the horrors it commits.
dseanmat What is being sung is the Jewish prayer for the dead known as the "Kaddish" in memory of the more than SIX MILLION Jews who were systematically murdered in cold blood by the Nazi regime because they had NO WHERE they could have fled to. Due to the pressure of the Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin al-Husseini and other Arab leaders the British sealed the one and only place the Jews of Europe could have fled to, the League Of Nations promised "Jewish Homeland" in the Mandated Area of Palestine. The recital of the Kaddish for a deceased loved one is an ancient Jewish tradition. Kaddish is an act of loving-kindness towards the departed’s soul, enabling that soul to ascend to the Higher realms. Usually a son or close relative says the Kaddish prayer for a deceased parent or sibling. (It is also customary for a father to say kaddish for a departed child, G-d forbid, if there is no sibling capable of reciting it.) Kaddish is to be recited in the company of a minyan (congregation of at least ten Jewish men) during the three daily prayers (Shacharit-morning, Mincha-afternoon and Arvit-evening), from the time of the burial and continuing for the next 11 months. Additionally. the Kaddish is also recited every year on the anniversary of the death called the Yahrzeit. It is not always possible for the mourner, who sincerely wants to honor their loved one, to fulfill their obligation of personally saying the Kaddish prayer. Therefore, it is permissible and recommended that the mourner engage someone to fulfill the obligation in their stead. (Even those who intend to take on the responsibility of personally saying the Yahrzeit prayer three times a day, often employ an additional person to recite it as a back-up insurance just in case they are unable to make it to synagogue.) here is the transliteration from the Aramaic/Hebrew : Yitgadal v'yitkadash sh'mei raba b'alma di-v'ra chirutei, v'yamlich malchutei b'chayeichon uvyomeichon uvchayei d'chol beit yisrael, ba'agala ubizman kariv, v'im'ru: "amen." Y'hei sh'mei raba m'varach l'alam ul'almei almaya. Yitbarach v'yishtabach, v'yitpa'ar v'yitromam v'yitnaseh, v'yithadar v'yit'aleh v'yit'halal sh'mei d'kud'sha, b'rich hu, l'eila min-kol-birchata v'shirata, tushb'chata v'nechemata da'amiran b'alma, v'im'ru: "amen." Y'hei shlama raba min-sh'maya v'chayim aleinu v'al-kol-yisrael, v'im'ru: "amen." Oseh shalom bimromav, hu ya'aseh shalom aleinu v'al kol-yisrael, v'imru: "amen." Translation: Glorified and sanctified be God's great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen. May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity. Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen. May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.
Found this, don't know if it's correct - the traditional Kaddish lyrics are above my post, but I believe these are the lyrics to this amazing piece: www.rabbinicalassembly.org/story/kaddish-six-million Kaddish for the Six Million Grief-stricken, we recall our brothers and sisters who no longer walk this earth, cut down, whether in youth or in old age, by the vicious hand of evil. May God comfort us and sustain us in our sorrow.
And WWIII now looms with China, Russia and their little mate North Korea. The human race will never learn. The World will never learn. All that may survive will be the compassionate. hard living, resisting survivors. Haven't we danced this dance before ? (Twice in the twentieth century) God help us.
